All living beings have the same habits and characteristics of being happy, sad, joy, pain, love, hatred, anger, greed, ignorant, arrogant, jealous, self protection, self justification, have fear, worries and doubt, to compare, to judge, to criticize, to compete, dissatisfied, egoistic, looking for better improvement, to socialize, to share, to express, have likes and dislikes, needs and wants, strengths and weaknesses, and all the positive and negative elements.
And all these came from our mind. Anger, hatred, jealousy, greed, craving, selfishness, arrogant, anxiety, nervousness, impatient, stress, hypocrisy, worries, fear, discontent, depression, and negative thoughts and feelings are bringing so much tensions into the body system.
The defense system of the body towards infectious and non infectious diseases is gradually breaking down.
These are the real enemies to our overall wellbeing. Above all, the health of the mind is far more important than the health of the body. We are powerless to fight the decaying effect of the body, but we have absolute power to keep our mind healthy only if we are aware of the danger of a sick mind and we want to do something about it.
A human born with a weak and imperfect physical body does not affect the mind working to be transcended. But a healthy and perfect body can not be transcended for sure if the mind is full of impurities.
A strong and healthy body is of course a better and convenient vehicle for the self to walk on the path of self-transcendence, but does not guarantee self realization. Sometimes the strong and perfect body is being taken for granted and indeed it becomes an obstacle in the path of self realization.
We need to take care of the body, make good use of the good health and strong body to do good and as an instrument for achieving self realization or to serve humanity, but we should not have strong attachment for this physical body.
