The different stages of open mind

One of the important key words in the teachings and practice of yoga and/or buddhism, is open mind.

There are some misunderstanding in certain minds towards open mind, that give rise to aversion, or rejection, or fear towards open mind, especially in the prideful egoistic impure restless minds that have certain individual and/or community agenda/aspiration to be manipulating and controlling the others or the members of the community to think, believe, reason, understand, evaluate, desire, behave, act, and react in certain way or not in certain way, in accordance to their particular likes and dislikes, desires and don't desires, agreements and disagreements. Because the mind that is opened, that is mentally and emotionally independent, cannot be influenced or manipulated by anyone or anything.

To know what is open mind, one can inquire towards what is closed-mindedness.

The minds that are closed-minded, they are unwittingly being conditioned and over-powered by the selfless survival instinct that exists in all living organisms for basic life maintenance, as well as being manipulated and conditioned by their elders/parents/guardians/teachers/leaders/members of their particular community to think and believe that their particular personal and/or community thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, values, practices, and the desires or don't desires, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements (based on their particular belief, values, and practices that are being generated under the influence of survival instinct on top of the influence of ignorance) are somehow more authentic, good, right, pure, superior, or true than all the other types of personal and/or community thinking, beliefs, reasoning, understanding, values, practices, and the desires or don't desires, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements that are different from theirs, that are contradicting with theirs, that appear to be intimidating towards their particular belief, values, practices, desires, visions, and aspirations, where they have the ambitious vision or aspiration to conquer the world and build a world that they prefer based on their particular personal and/or community thinking, beliefs, reasoning, understanding, values, and practices.

They strongly think and believe that the world, or the surrounding living environment, or the land and space with all kinds of natural resources for life maintenance, where they and their ancestors were born, where they live on, or occupy, or claimed ownership and possession, is something that rightfully/automatically/naturally belonged to them, that is theirs, personally and/or communally (only limited to their particular family/community). And if there are some other land and space that they haven't claimed ownership or possession, authorization, control, and occupation yet, they will want to invade, conquer, occupy, and claim ownership or possession, to take authorization and control over those land and space that come with the natural resources that don't belong to anyone or anything.

Meanwhile, these minds will be determined, or disturbed, or offended, or intimidated by what the mind doesn't like, doesn't agree with, and doesn't desire, that they think and believe, or judge and recognize as opposing, or disrespectful, or offensive, or intimidating towards their particular personal and/or community thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, values, and practices, that are intimidating and hindering their ambitious vision and aspiration for conquering the world and building a world that they prefer under their particular personal and/or community desires and don't desires.

People, or the minds of human beings, would like to think and believe that, (or even, some of the biologists say,) "This human's selfish and possessive behavior pattern is conditioned by the internal genetic traits (genes) inheritance and survival instinct governed by glands and hormones under the nature's law of cause and effect, that all human beings and some other living organisms are genetically being engineered to behave in certain way and not in certain way, and there is no freewill to be liberated from all that. Even if there is evolution or changes towards better or worst, it is also evolving under the effect of the pre-existing cause/genes from birth. If people think and behave in certain way and not in certain way, whether they are wise or ignorant, selfish or unselfish, peaceful or peaceless, kind or unkind, what they like and don't like, what they desire and don't desire, whether they will be successful or failed in everything, healthy or unhealthy, long-lived or short-lived, determined or non-determined, resilient or non-resilient, good or evil, greedy or not greedy, hurtful or not hurtful, and etc, it is because they were born/destined/conditioned to be in such way."

Because the passionate impure egoistic restless prideful minds would like to be able to justify and prove that, it is not their responsibility towards all their thinking, desires, and actions, as well as the consequences of all their thinking, desires, and actions. That they have no freewill at all, but all their thinking, desires, and actions that are being generated either consciously or unconsciously, are all being conditioned and influenced by the underlying subconscious/unconscious survival instinct, or urge, or cause/genes/glands/hormones/energy/elements. That there is no conscious freewill of conscious choice making to choose, to over-come, to transcend, to think or don't think, to understand or don't understand, to feel or don't feel, to desire or don't desire, to improve or don't improve, to behave, act, and react in certain way or not in certain way. And even if there is limited conscious choice making, thinking, desire, and action, it can never over-ride the underlying genetic traits inheritance and survival instinct.

That is their freedom of thinking and understanding.

The minds that know Thyself, will also know and understand that, "Even the underlying genetic traits inheritance and survival instinct is also selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self. Human's way of thinking/desiring/behavior/action/reaction, or the modification/state of the mind, is merely the indication/reflection of whether the minds are functioning under the influence of ignorance, a.k.a. the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, that can be annihilated/transcended through certain self-initiated, non-violent, genuine, persevered, and determined observations and practices, under intense yearning towards knowledge, liberation, freedom, and peace, initiated by the coming in contact with the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self that exists in all and everyone and everything and everywhere, where the modification/state of mind is occupied by disturbance, dissatisfaction, restlessness, impurities, painful sorrow, and suffering upon coming in contact with the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self under the influence of the veil of ignorance, but the annihilation of ignorance upon the direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self will liberate the modification/state of mind from disturbance, dissatisfaction, restlessness, impurities, painful sorrow, and suffering.

Under a disturbed, churning, restless, impure, egoistic, and suffering modification/state of mind, the mind would think, desire, behave, act, and react in the way that hurt itself and others and the surrounding environment. While under the undisturbed, calm, quiet, pure, ego-less, and peaceful modification/state of mind, the mind doesn't think, desire, behave, act, or react in the way that hurt itself and others and the surrounding environment."

The state of mind is selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional, where it can be influenced by the selfless thinking and acting faculty under the conscious mind awareness being aware of the states of the mind, to be performing certain action or inaction that can be influencing the state of the mind, to eradicate the veil of ignorance, a.k.a. restlessness, impurities, egoism, and the idea of 'I', and upon the annihilation of the veil of ignorance, the selfless mind can know Thyself, of the selfless mind stuff, or the impermanent modification/state of mind, or the selfless functions/mechanisms of the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty, the selfless universal consciousness that gives rise to the conscious mind awareness to be aware of its internal selfless existence and function and the external surrounding environment, and all kinds of selfless names and forms that the selfless mind perceives through the selfless senses, as it is.

While yes. If you are being conceived and born under specific parental inheritance of specific characteristics/qualities/names and forms, and physical/mental/emotional health condition/limitation being conditioned and limited by internal genetic traits inheritance by birth that are fixed, that is what you are, that you cannot change or modify, even if there is the conscious freewill.

But nope. Your 'conditional habitual' way of thinking, belief and disbelief, values, practices, reasoning, understanding, learning, doubting, investigating, inquiring, intentions, and aspirations that are influencing your thinking, desires, behaviors, actions, and reactions are mostly being conditioned and influenced by the external influential conditions/situations/experiences/affairs/relationships/interactions/activities/food consumption after birth that are not fixed, that you can choose what type of condition, situation, experience, affair, relationship, friendship, interaction, activity, or food consumption that you want to be engaging with, or not.

You can over-ride or transcend the underlying survival instinct and the genetic traits inheritance that is what it is, that you can't change, and not being determined by all that internally of all kinds of characteristics/traits/qualities and physical/mental/emotional conditions and limitations under certain names and forms that are fixed, not to say, you can transcend and not being determined by all your external experiences/affairs/relationships/interactions/activities under any kind of surrounding environment, condition, or situation, that are pleasant or unpleasant, agreeable or disagreeable, desirable or undesirable, enjoyable or non-enjoyable/painful, physically/mentally/emotionally.

Because all that are selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.

All the thoughts, feelings, emotions, that are coming and going in the modification of the mind either being generated consciously or unconsciously, are not you, they are not part of you, and they don't belong to you, and vice versa.

You don't have to live, think, believe, reason, understand, desire, behave, act, or react like your ancestors, your parents, your siblings, your family, your community, your friends, your favourite idols, your highly respected leaders and teachers, your highly admired influencers, or anyone.

You don't have to fit in, or be qualified to fit in, or to please anyone, and you don't need to be receiving attention, acknowledgement, recognition, approval, agreement, acceptance, understanding, friendship, love, liking, mental/emotional support, encouragement, companionship, admiration, praise and compliment, from anyone, not even from yourself, or your own immediate family/parents/siblings, not to say, all the others or the leader and members of the particular community, to be what you are, and you don't even need to have, not to say, to develop and empower the sense of self-esteem and self-worth, pride, confidence, goodness, righteousness, positiveness, joyfulness, deserving, accomplishment, or meaningfulness deriving from the achievement, attachment, identification, or possession towards certain qualities of names and forms, if you know Thyself, if there is mental and emotional independence. Although you can be kind*, friendly*, helpful, and understanding towards all and everyone unconditionally and indiscriminately, without the idea of 'I' and egoism, because you understand (that many other minds might not understand what you understand, and it's okay).

*Friendliness and kindness towards all and everyone without discrimination unconditionally regardless of agreeable or disagreeable, is not about building and accumulating passionate personal interactive friendship or intimate relationship with all and everyone, particularly those who are like-minded and agreeable to meet up and get together from time to time to interact, chit-chat, gossip, exchange information, or enjoy life/spend time doing certain activities together.

Being what you are as you are, that you don't need to become or pretend to be the same like all the others, that you don't need to fit in, or even, distancing/retreating yourself from the worldly minded egoistic society to be looking after your own well-being, it doesn't mean that you are deliberately making yourself to be distinctive and separated from all and everyone, but in contrary, you understand that beyond all the differences in all and everyone for being what all and everyone are, being uniquely different from one another, it is the one same universal essence/nature/truth in all and everyone and everything - Selfless, Impermanent, Limited, Conditional, and Non-self. That allows you to be able to respect all the differences in all and everyone and everything, as they are, unconditionally and indiscriminately, and it is okay that all are imperfect, limited, and impermanent.

It is only the minds that haven't attain direct self realization towards selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, will think and believe that there is no conscious freewill/awareness/understanding in the selfless mind, that is also selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, to have conscious choice making that can activate the conscious mind evolution to transcend all that selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self restless impure egoistic mind stuff that is merely existing and functioning being part of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the mortal physical body that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to the body and mind itself, not to say, none and nothing belongs to anyone or anything.

Only the prideful mad minds functioning under the influence of ignorance would think and believe that they own and possess all and everyone and everything, either by education/temptation/manipulation or by force/violence/bully/threat/intimidation, under their boundless and endless greedy ambitious desires and aspirations.

No doubt that all and everyone are having their own particular not by choice underlying genetic traits inheritance and physical/mental/emotional condition and limitation that are fixed, that cannot be changed, even if all and everyone have the conscious freewill towards many other things that are not fixed. There is nothing bad or wrong with that, and it doesn't need to be changed into something else that it is not, at all.

The momentary mortal existence and the different functions/mechanisms of the body and mind (and all and everything) is selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, that is the truth of everything, that is permanent, that cannot be changed, and it doesn't need to be changed to become something else that is NOT what it is, that is NOT selfless, NOT impermanent, NOT limited, NOT conditional, and NOT non-self.

The truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, appears to be something unpleasant, undesirable, disagreeable, and painful to the minds that are functioning under the veil of ignorance, that haven't attain direct self realization towards all THAT.

The truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, is just what it is, neither liberating nor binding, but the direct self realization towards all THAT is absolutely liberating to the minds upon the direct self realization towards all THAT, where the liberation is not about be free from the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, but it is about the liberation from ignorance, and the by-products or consequences of ignorance, of all kinds of suffering, restlessness, impurities, egoism, and the idea of 'I'.

This liberation is available to all minds effortlessly*, and most importantly, without force, or violence, or threat, or judgment, or punishment. And the presence of force, or violence, or threat, or manipulation, or story telling, or hypocrisy, or judgment, or punishment, is the greatest hindrance towards the realization of this liberation.

*Effortlessly - Holding on vs Letting go, Grasping vs Non-grasping

Holding on or grasping requires effort and continuous effort to keep holding on and grasping.

Letting go or non-grasping doesn't require effort, and hence, it is effortless, or natural.

It is only the minds that are still functioning under the influence of ignorance, that are being conditioned by all kinds of worldly egoistic impure cultural/spiritual/religious/political/commercial ideas, beliefs, values, and practices, that strongly think and believe that they have an immortal permanent independent infinite individual self existence or identity, that have the ambitious desire, or aspiration, or wishful thinking to defy/deny/modify/change/be liberated from/transform what they are, to become something else that they are not, to be liberated from selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, to become or transform into something else that has an infinite immortal individual existence/identity that is non-selfless, non-impermanent, non-limited, non-conditional, and non-non-self.

Under the influence of such intentional ignorance on top of the influence of the selfless intentionless survival instinct, these minds, individually and/or communally, regardless of whether they are from which particular family/community or parental lineage genetic traits inheritance, they all have the similar desire or aspiration to interfere, to conquer, to convert, to change, to educate, to manipulate, to threaten, or to control all the others to live life, to think, to believe/disbelieve, to desire, to aspire, to evaluate, to behave, to act, and to react in certain way and not in certain way, to build a world or community (that begins in the personal relationship/family ties and connections) that is in accordance to their particular vision or ambition under their particular desire and don't desire.

That is what has been happening in the world of human beings, the existence of all kinds of selfishness, possessiveness, greed, hoarding, exploitation, cruelty, hatred, jealousy, discrimination, separation, defensiveness, offensiveness, pride and shame, superiority and inferiority, hypocrisy, story telling, manipulation, intimidation, bullying, oppression, occupation, aggression, fighting, killing, hurtful destructive ideas and behaviors, unrest, or violence, that exists within one's mind, among different individual minds, among different communities, that impact all and everyone and everything in this world of diversity that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

The world of human beings doesn't have to be like that, at all.

How you (the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty) react and feel towards all that (that is fixed, that you can't change), or deal with all that, or live with all that, as well as what you can learn (know and understand) and do (act) about many other things that are not fixed, that are conditional and impermanent, that are possible to be strengthened or weakened within your limited physical/mental/emotional ability, is at your own conscious choice making in NOW upon the presence or absence of certain conscious perception, experience, knowledge, and understanding, and under certain conducive/easy or detrimental/challenging condition and situation in NOW.

Knowledge and understanding are not fixed. One can be constantly learning, inquiring, accumulating, and improving one's knowledge and understanding, if one desires and has the opportunity to do so. None and nothing can stop you from ceaselessly learning, inquiring, knowing, and understanding, unless the selfless body and mind ceased functioning and ceased existing, or there is some damage/injury/dysfunction/malfunction/deformity in the selfless functions/mechanisms of the body and mind.

The thinking, the emotions, the desires, the behaviors, the actions, and the reactions are very much being influenced by the existing knowledge and understanding in the mind, under the presence of conscious mind awareness, under the presence or absence of grasping or non-grasping. And hence, there is conscious freewill towards all that, towards choosing what one thinks and desires, and how one feels, behaves, acts, and reacts, either constructively or destructively, unselfishly or selfishly, wisely or ignorantly, to hold on or to let go.

Genetically/physically/mentally/emotionally, we all are uniquely different from one another. Our physical/mental/emotional characteristics, condition, limitation, ability, and disability are different from one another. But, beyond the differences under the many different genetic traits inheritance, we all are the same - Selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self. All sentient and non-sentient living organisms and all non-living objects are the same - Selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.

Unless the body and mind is completely functioning unconsciously under the instinctive autonomous function of the bodily systems under the availability of the selfless support of the selfless energy and selfless elements for life maintenance, but without any conscious awareness or response towards one's own existence/function/modification and the surrounding environment, that one doesn't even have the basic function to perceive, or understand, or recognize what is this or what is that, if it is not like thatthen, you have the conscious freewill/awareness/basic understanding during the state of conscious wakefulness and semi-conscious/semi-awake/semi-sleep/dream state, to choose what you desire or don't desire, and how you want to think, feel, behave, act, and react towards all and everything that you perceive and experience, internally upon the selfless impermanent changes that are happening ceaselessly within the body and mind, and externally upon coming in contact with the objects of the senses, even if your existence and function are selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, non-self, and only existing and functioning momentary for a short duration.

Not all minds, but there are some minds can be aware of, or know that there is dreaming during the sleep state, they know that whatever they perceive during the sleep state is just dreaming, that it is not real, and they can remember all or some of the contents of the dreams, they can even control the dreams/pause the dreams/continue the dreams/replay the same dreams/change the contents of the dreams, and wake themselves up during sleep state or dreaming, or even, from the deep sleep state. These minds are also having high degrees of creativity/imagination/visualization/image memory, that is not necessarily beneficial to oneself and the world, if the minds are still functioning under the influence of ignorance.

If these minds can have certain degrees of self control or conscious freewill during sleep/dream state, not to say, of course they have high degrees of self-control or conscious freewill during the state of wakefulness, even though all states (conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious) are selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, and there is no grasping, or attachment, or identification being generated towards all states, including the state of changeless timeless attributeless thoughtless actionless Turiya/Atman, or the selfless silent witness of all states, beyond the impermanent states of conscious wakefulness/semi-conscious sleep or dreaming/unconscious deep sleep or coma, of ceaseless conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious physical and mental activities happening and changing under the selfless support of the selfless energy and selfless elements for life maintenance.

This precious conscious mind awareness of self-awareness and self-control can be developed and enhanced via the regular practice of concentration and meditation and silence, that is beneficial for conscious mind evolution to know Thyself.

That is why it is so important for having doubt, open mind, and self-inquiry to be inquiring towards the truth of all and everything, regardless of all kinds of information/knowledge that are coming from anyone or anywhere, including all the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism that are existing under many different names and forms coming from everyone and everywhere.

An open mind, is a mind that is devoid of grasping and identification.

There are different stages of open mind. Just like there are different degrees or stages of partial/incomplete understanding that lead towards complete/absolute understanding under the different degrees of calmness and clarity.

The beginning stage of open mind, is about the mind is consciously aware of and understand that there are many different types of living organisms/non-living objects/people/communities in this world sharing the surrounding living environment that comes with the intentionless indiscriminate natural resources for life maintenance, that don't belong to anyone or anything, where there are many different types of personal and/or community thinking, beliefs, reasoning, understanding, values, practices, as well as different types of desires and don't desires, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements existing in the world of many diversities, and it is inevitable and essential to be respecting and non-interfering towards one another among the many diversities individually and/or communally for being different from one another, to be maintaining peace and harmony (the essential inevitable elements for a conducive living environment for maximal survival/wholesomeness and/or minimal unnecessary evitable destruction/difficulty) among the many diversities.

Although the mind might still be conditioned by its own personal and/or community thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, values, practices, as well as the specific desires and don't desires, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, where the mind would be determined, or disturbed, or offended, or intimidated by what the mind doesn't like, doesn't agree with, and doesn't desire based on its particular way of thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, values, and practices.

Then, even though the mind might still be having particular personal and community likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, and desires and don't desires, based on the particular type of thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, values, and practices, to live life, think, reason, understand, evaluate, desire, aspire, behave, act, and react in certain way, however, the mind is less and less, and/or not being determined, or disturbed, or offended, or intimidated by what the mind doesn't like, doesn't agree with, and doesn't desire, because it starts to understand that all and everyone have the freedom to be what they are and what they are not, being different from oneself and/or one's particular community. It starts to respect all and everyone as they are, to be different from one another. Not trying to interfere, or convert, or change, or control the others to be or not to be in certain way, in accordance to one's personal and community likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, desires and don't desires.

Then, it is about the absence of blind-believe, blind-follow, blind-practice, blind-agree/disagree, and blind-propagate towards anything, as well as the presence of intense yearning towards absolute knowledge, correct understanding, liberation from ignorance, freedom of existence, and unconditional peace, to be performing self-inquiry or self-investigation to be inquiring/investigating towards the truth of all and everything in oneself, towards all the likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, desires and don't desires in one's mind, including the particular existing way of thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, aspirations, values, and practices, that are influencing the thinking, feeling, behavior, action, and reaction in one's mind and/or one's particular family/community.

The mind begins to doubt and realize that the particular existing personal and/or community way of thinking, belief, reasoning, understanding, aspirations, values, and practices, that give rise to personal and/or community vision or aspiration to conquer the world (interfere, convert, change, and control the others), and to build a desirable world or community based on that particular personal and/or community desire and don't desire, in itself, are not necessarily (completely) true and beneficial to oneself individually, one's community, and all the other different individuals and communities in the world of many diversities, but that 'urge'/'desire'/'aspiration'/'ambition'/'action' to conquer/interfere/covert/control others, is actually hurting and destroying all and everything, impacting its own momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional mortal existence that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to itself, that inevitably depends on the availability of a conducive living environment under the selfless existence and function of all and everyone and everything that work together selflessly and indiscriminately (the selfless power of compassion) that enables all and everyone and everything being what they are, as they are.

Just like within the selfless physical structure where the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty under the presence and/or absence of conscious awareness, is merely part of the functions/mechanisms of the selfless physical structure, that depends on the selfless support of the selfless energy and the many different selfless elements/functions/mechanisms/systems/components/organs/glands/hormones/cells/atoms/neutrons/protons/neurons that all work together selflessly and indiscriminately that enabling the selfless body to be existing and functioning as what it is, momentarily, selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, and conditionally, that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to the body itself, not to say, it doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

The presence of breakdown/malfunction/dysfunction/corruption/to be fighting or interfering against one another in any particular element/function/mechanism/system/component/organ/gland/hormone/cell/atom/neutron/proton/neuron is impacting and detrimental to the selfless existence and function of the selfless physical structure.

One who hurts others and the surrounding environment, is actually hurting oneself.

Then, it is about activating the conscious mind purification and silencing process of freeing the selfless modifications/functions/mechanisms of the mind from ignorance, restlessness, or impurities, by letting go the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, and expectation, that leads the selfless thinking and acting faculty under the presence of conscious awareness towards transcending or not being determined and influenced by the existing particular personal and community's habitual mind thinking and behavior pattern being conditioned by the internal parental family lineage genetic traits inheritance and survival instinct by birth, the selfless impermanent desirable or undesirable changes in the body and mind, the different impermanent modifications/states of mind, the ongoing external surrounding parental/family/community/school/work/social network/political/spiritual/religious/cultural/commercial conditioning and influential influences, the instinctive unconscious random autonomous desires/urges, and the conscious by choice built up/accumulated habitual likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, and desires and don't desires, based on the particular type of personal and/or family/community/political/spiritual/religious/cultural/commercial thinking, beliefs, reasoning, understanding, aspirations, values, and practices in oneself and/or in one's particular family/community, a little by a little, step by step, stage by stage, without rushing, forcing, or violence, without grasping, association, attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

In this stage, the observation of renunciation and dispassion, solitude and seclusion, and the practice of silence, for a prolonged extended duration, is highly important and effective and helpful.

Then, it is about the presence of mental and emotional independence, or the liberation from the influence of ignorance and its by-products or the restless impure egoistic mind stuff, where the selfless mind effortlessly respecting the nature's law of cause and effect, accepting the body and mind being what it is, inevitably having certain parental lineage genetic traits inheritance and physical/mental/emotional conditions and limitations that cannot be changed or modified, under the momentary existence and function of a mortal body and mind that is selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, that requires ceaseless effort for ceaseless maintenance, that is subject to hunger and thirst, that is subject to aging, weakness, stiffness, injury, and illness, that is subject to fragility and mortality, that is subject to decay and disintegration, or ceased function and ceased existence, as well as, respecting and allowing all the others/living organisms/non-living objects/nature/the world of many diversities/selfless impermanent changes to be what they are, as they are, while not being determined, or disturbed, or offended, or intimidated by all and everyone and everything being what they are, that are not necessarily pleasant, or agreeable, or desirable, or beneficial, that might be unpleasant, or disagreeable, or undesirable, or hurtful.

Respecting the perceived reality (internally and externally) in the present moment now as it is, and it is impermanent, while not being determined or disturbed by all that, devoid of grasping, attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

The personal and/or community ambitious vision or aspiration to build a desirable world or community based on that particular personal and/or community desire and don't desire disappears from one's mind.

The mind stops hurting itself and others and the surrounding environment.

The mind fully understands that the world of many diversities, or the surrounding living environment, or the land and space with the natural resources for life maintenance, as well as all and everyone and everything, doesn't belong to anyone or anything, not to say, it doesn't belong to itself and/or its particular family/community, even if they have been born and living on that land and space for a prolonged duration, or they have been discovering, occupying, and claiming ownership/possession towards any particular land and space earlier than many others who came later.

The open mind is not being determined, or disturbed, or offended, or intimidated by what the mind perceives/recognizes as the absence of pleasant, agreeable, desirable, or enjoyable experiences/names and forms/interactions/activities/relationships/conditions/opportunities, or the presence of painful inevitable and evitable experiences/situations/conditions/limitations/difficulties/suffering and all kinds of ignorance, hurtful behaviors, and ill treatments deriving from the many minds that are functioning under the influence of ignorance.

The mind understands that there are inevitable painful or unpleasant conditions/limitations/difficulties/suffering just by being existing and functioning as what it is, selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, conditionally, and momentarily, and there are many unnecessary evitable unpleasant/disagreeable/undesirable/painful experiences/situations/affairs/relationships/interactions/conditions/limitations/difficulties/suffering, under the presence of all kinds of ignorant egoistic impure selfish thinking/ideas/beliefs/reasoning/understanding/desires/aspirations/values/practices in the many different individuals and communities, that give rise to all kinds of incorrect thinking, hurtful behaviors/actions/reactions, defensiveness, offensiveness, selfishness, possessiveness, discontentment, greed, admiration, jealousy, fear, pride and shame, superiority and inferiority, deserving and non-deserving, low and high self-esteem/self-worth, sense of meaningfulness and meaninglessness/goodness and badness/righteousness and wrongfulness/positiveness and negativeness, discrimination, separateness, unjust, prejudice, hatred, corruptions, exploitation, desperation, cruelty, violence, conflicts, and ill treatments deriving from the minds functioning under the influence of ignorance, existing in the world of many diversities that doesn't belong to anyone or anything, impacting and hurting all and everyone and everything in certain way.

Above all that, there are also many constructive wholesome beneficial ideas/actions/activities in the world deriving from the selfless minds that are functioning under the absence of ignorance and its by-products.

The mind understands that all those unpleasant/undesirable/disagreeable/painful/difficult evitable affairs/activities/conditions/situations deriving from the minds that are functioning under the influence of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, are all merely because of the presence of ignorance and the by-products or side-effects of ignorance, that is not what they are, that is not part of them, and that doesn't belong to them, that can be eliminated (only) by themselves, willingly and wittingly (consciously) out of their own self initiation and self effort.

Just like the selfless natural disasters being what they are, that inevitably cause certain types and certain degrees of damages or destructions unto lives and objects and nature or the surrounding environment.

Just like there are minds/people that are suffering from certain form of insanity due to certain malfunctioning, or dysfunction, or deformity, or damage of the brains/glands/hormones/nerves/systems by birth or developed/encountering some time later in life, where they have very little or no conscious mind awareness, or self-control, or conscious freewill over their own modification of the mind and behavior, that might or might not cause random damages or destructions unto themselves, and/or others and the surrounding environment.

Just like all kinds of obstacles/dangers/risks/natural or man made disasters being there as they are. One can only try to avoid or move around the obstacles/dangers/risks/natural or man made disasters, as much as possible, to minimize unnecessary evitable direct or indirect coming in contact with the potential effects/damages/destructions that come along with the obstacles/dangers/risks/natural or man made disasters being what they are, as they are.

The mind that understands all that, it understands that it doesn't need to be 'determined by', or 'disturbed by', or 'suffer' for the 'ignorance' and the 'effects/consequences of ignorance' deriving from the minds that are functioning under the influence of ignorance.

It allows all the other minds to take their own pace under their own cause, to evolve as they are, to inquire and realize towards the truth of all that, or not.

Unless there is serious deformity/dysfunction/damage/illness/injury in the body and mind that there is absolutely no conscious mind awareness/freewill/self-control to be aware of its own internal modification/function and the external surrounding environment, all selfless minds under the presence of selfless conscious awareness can be free from the influence of ignorance, however, it has to come from the mind itself to be aware of the presence of ignorance/impurities/hurtful thinking, intention, desire, behavior, action, and reaction in itself, to have the self-initiation to help itself to be free from the influence of ignorance, to annihilate restlessness, impurities, the idea of 'I', and egoism all by itself under right effort, right attentiveness, right attitude, perseverance, and determination, to inquire the truth of everything, to attain direct self realization towards the truth of everything - Selflessness, Impermanence, Limitation, Conditional, and Non-self, to be resting in unconditional peace, to have clarity of thinking and correct understanding, to stop hurting itself and others and the surrounding environment during its momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function in the world of many diversities, where all and everyone and everything don't belong to anyone or anything.

Do not blind-believe, blind-follow, blind-practice, blind agree/disagree, or blind propagate anything from anyone, including all that is here.

Inquire the truth of everything.

It is absolutely possible to be free from ignorance.

You can attain direct self realization towards all these.

There is nothing spiritual, religious, mystical, supernatural, or unreachable in the path of yoga and/or buddhism, or meditation. It is pure solid knowledge and understanding that unveil the unconditional peace in the mind, in NOW, even if all and everyone and everything are existing and functioning momentarily, selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional and non-self.

Selfishness

Most of the minds that are selfish, are not aware of themselves are being selfish, but, they would think and believe that themselves are not selfish at all, while they might be aware of and recognizing many others are being selfish. These minds are being selfish unintentionally and ignorantly.

The minds that are aware of themselves are being selfish, that is because they deliberately want to be selfish, for their own reasons, to cause disturbance, or unhappiness, or obstacle, or inconvenience, or annoyance, or pain, or injury, or failure, or damage, or destruction, or unrest, and etc, unto other people, intentionally and deliberately, out of ungratified desires, greed, dissatisfaction, disappointment, anger, hatred, jealousy, fear, unrest, the sense of self-righteousness, the sense of pride, the sense of superiority or inferiority, or any kind of impurities in their modification of the mind. These minds are being selfish intentionally and ignorantly, even more ignorant than those who are not aware of themselves are being selfish.

These minds are not peaceful being disturbed by something that they don't enjoy, don't desire, don't like, and don't agree with, and they don't want others to be peaceful as well.

Similarly, the minds that are ignorant, are not aware of themselves are being ignorant, especially the minds that might be highly educated, knowledgeable, talented, skillful, or accomplished in something or in many things.

The minds that are aware of ignorance in themselves, they might or might not have the yearning to be free from ignorance. There is neither right nor wrong. It's the freedom of all minds whether they want to be free from ignorance, or not.

The minds that are aware of ignorance in themselves, and that have the yearning towards knowledge/liberation/freedom/peace, to be free from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, are very precious in this world, as they can help themselves as well as maybe some others, to be free, to have correct understanding, to not hurt themselves and/or others.

"I don't like and don't want to be hurt by others. I don't like and don't desire others to be hurt by some others. I don't like and don't desire to hurt myself. I don't like and don't desire to hurt others. I might not be aware of myself is hurting myself and others. Now that I am aware of I have been hurting myself and others, I want to be free from hurting myself and others. I want to be free from what causing me to hurt myself and others."

That idea/thought/awareness/understanding is highly precious, as that initiates and powering the path towards self inquiry and self realization.

There is no need judgment, not to say, self punishment or repent, upon being aware of the selfishness, impurities, or ignorance in oneself. Let it go, and move on with that awareness/understanding, and keep practicing until the modification of the mind is purified, calmed, and quiet (clarity), without violence, without forcing, without judgment, without attachment, without identification, without craving, without aversion, without comparison, and without expectation, but never give up and keep going until the mind starts to see/know/realize the truth of itself under the absence of ignorance/hindrance a.k.a. under the presence of clarity.

Observe our own ceaseless actions/reactions/behaviors in everyday life, and see how much selfishness or ignorance in our actions/reactions/behaviors, either intentionally or unintentionally, out of anger, hatred, jealousy, pride, arrogance, fear, unrest, dissatisfaction, disappointment, unhappiness, frustration, irritation, bitterness, resentment, feelings of hurt/betrayed/being taken for granted/being exploited/being bullied/being insulted/being belittled/being threatened/being intimidated/being abandoned/being disapproved/being unappreciated/being unloved, the sense of low self-esteem, the sense of self-righteousness, possessiveness, self-protectiveness, and so on, that we were not aware of, until now, without judgment.

Without judgment, or non-judgment, alongside with non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving, non-aversion, non-comparison, and non-expectation, is highly important on the path of yoga and/or buddhism to be free from ignorance, to attain self realization, to transcend this selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence.

Inquire the truth of everything.

May all be free, be happy, be peaceful.

Don't give up, keep practicing

Under the influence of ignorance and its by-products, the mind is either being ignorant towards ignorance, or the mind denies and rejects the presence of ignorance in itself under the sense of pride and shame, where the mind justifies and blames the survival instinct and the autonomous instinctive non-freewill urge for all its ignorant hurtful damaging behavior/action/reaction that are generated by the thinking and acting mind itself functioning under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

If it doesn't blame the survival instinct, it will blame everyone and everything else for causing itself to behave/act/react in such hurtful damaging way, than to be acknowledging that itself is under the influence of ignorance.

Even if it is aware of and acknowledges that itself is functioning/behaving/acting/reacting under the influence of ignorance, it will blame the ignorance and its by-products for all its hurtful damaging behavior/action/reaction, while refuse/reluctant to do something about, to be free from the influence of ignorance and its by-products, by annihilate ignorance and its by-products from the selfless modification of the mind.

And even if it has the desire to do something about it, to be free from the influence of ignorance and its by-products, but it might give up during the purification process due to the presence of over-whelming distractions and obstacles, and it might either blame the weak willpower, or the restless impure modification of the mind influenced by the energy and elements, or the too many distractions and obstacles, or anything that it can think of, for giving up or reluctant to continue the purification process.

The blames will never come to an end or conclusion. Just like trying to find out "The chicken first or the egg first". Without chicken, there's no egg. Without egg, there's no chicken. Similarly, the selfless projector and the selfless projector screen, or the selfless mind and the selfless modification of the mind, or the perceiver and the perceived. They exist under the existence of one another. They don't exist under the absence of one another. And they exist, change, and ceased existing, under the selfless intentionless support and influence of the selfless energy and elements, governed by selfless intentionless nature's law of cause and effect (selfless manifestation and selfless evolution).

It's not about blaming this or that. Fault finding/pride/shame is a hindrance, or blockage, or obstacle for self-inquiry and self-realization.

The moment the mind lets go of fault finding, of self-blame or blame oneself/others/something/anything for being unable to do something, or unable to do something successfully, then naturally, everything that it perceives/experiences/comes in contact with will become the teacher/teachings/dhamma/guidance/assistance that enables the mind to realize the one and only greatest teacher within, which is its own selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function.

It's about developing the basic correct understanding (basic right discrimination/basic reasoning power), right attentiveness, right attitude, and right effort, and there are ways or there is possibility to develop all that from the base (the existing seed of wisdom but was left unattended), and even, from nothing (planting the seed of wisdom from the borrowed wisdom of others).

That's why the importance of non-grasping/non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving, non-aversion, non-comparison, non-judgment, non-expectation, renunciation, dispassion, Satsanga/Asanga, silence, solitude, seclusion, openness, mental and emotional independence, self-control, self-discipline, self-reliance, forbearance, patience, perseverance, determination, adjustment, adaptation, accommodation, intense yearning/desire towards liberation/freedom/peace, self-inquiry, self-introspection, direct experience, or self-realization.

It is ABSOLUTELY possible to be free from ignorance and its by-products, even though there might be some difficulties or challenges arise. But know that, even the difficulties or challenges and/or ignorance and its by-products, are selfless and impermanent, or limited and conditional. That's why it is possible.

In the end, it's the freedom of the mind itself whether to give up, or not. There is neither right nor wrong.

There is one thing that can be and needed to be given up, which is ignorance and its by-products.

Inquire the truth of everything.

Focus on ability, possibility, opportunity, supportive condition and situation

Be aware of and acknowledge the ability and disability, the possibility and impossibility, the presence and absence of opportunity, the limitation, and the supportive or discouraging condition and situation in the present moment now, and focus on the ability, the possibility, the presence of opportunity, and the supportive condition and situation, without denying the disability, the impossibility, the absence of opportunity, the limitation, or the discouraging condition and situation in the present moment now, while not being determined or disturbed by all that.

Focus on what the body and mind can do and achieve and be improving in the present moment now, and not be disturbed by the limitations of what the body and mind cannot do, or achieve, or be improving in the present moment now, while see if one can do something to make possible changes in the existing limitations, or not, without attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

Perform actions, without attachment, or identification, or expectation towards the actions and the fruit of actions.

The mind that understands this, is a free mind.

Discipline in the yoga asana practice

There's nothing wrong with many people are interested in attending some yoga classes to be learning and practicing the yoga asana practice only for gaining enhancement in health and fitness, with the aspiration of improving their physical and/or mental condition, ability, performance, and achievement, as well as be able to perform the different yoga asana poses.

In order to achieve such aspiration, it requires certain degrees of discipline or commitment to be devoting one's life and energy into performing the yoga asana practice and/or some other form of fitness training exercises regularly.

If one can spend approximately 1 to 2 hours a day, for minimum 3 to 6 times a week, continuously for a few years, to be practicing the yoga asana practice as well as the respective fitness training exercises for developing the required strength, flexibility, stamina, and skill for performing the different yoga asana poses effortlessly, under the correct understanding with right attitude/mentality/manner/attention/effort, then naturally, one will gain significant improvement in the over-all physical and/or mental condition, ability, performance and achievement, while minimizing unnecessary harmful effect or injury unto the body and mind, through the regular persistent yoga asana practice or fitness training without forcing the body and mind beyond its limitations in the present moment, and allowing the limitations to change as they are, during and/or after the persistent continuous regular practice or training for a few years. And all these development or enhancement in the physical/mental condition, ability, performance and achievement are momentary and impermanent. They are not the goal of the yoga asana practice.

All these enhanced qualities need to be maintained regularly, and yet, even if all these qualities are under going regular maintenance, the body and mind will still be under going the inevitable process of decay, weakness, old age, and disintegration.

If one has such aspiration of desiring to attain the maximum benefits from performing the yoga asana practice and/or fitness training exercises, but somehow, one doesn't have the required amount of discipline or commitment, where one only wants to attend the yoga asana classes or practicing the yoga asana and fitness training exercises for once a week, while keeps skipping classes or the practice sessions from time to time due to some other priorities and commitments in everyday life, or merely because "I don't feel like doing any physical activity for today at no particular reason" for the day, and for the next many days or weeks, then of course, there won't be much development or improvement in the physical and/or mental condition, ability, performance and achievement.

Moreover, there will be some physical and mental struggle/discomfort/weakness/tightness/soreness or even unnecessary injury manifesting in the body and mind every time during and after the 'once in a while' or 'irregular' yoga asana practice or fitness training session, as the body and mind were never being given the proper or enough amount of continuous practice, or never received enough regular training for it to develop the required physical and mental familiarity, the basic skill, the stamina, the strength and the flexibility, and to be at ease and effortless in the yoga asana practice routine, and in the different yoga exercises or fitness training routine.

Meanwhile, the presence or absence of such discipline or commitment makes no difference to those who don't have such aspiration for gaining maximum benefits or improvement in the physical and/or mental condition, ability, performance, and achievement via the yoga asana practice and/or some other forms of yoga practice under certain names and forms, but they are more interested in learning and practicing yoga for self-inquiry and self-realization, or to be attaining liberation from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, as such yoga practice is not limited by the discipline, commitment, devotion, or regularity in attending the yoga asana classes, or in performing certain physical and mental yoga practice under certain names and forms, but, the yoga practice is in everyday life, in every moment, of how the mind thinks, reasons, understands, behaves, acts and reacts towards the mind perception of names and forms in this present moment now, that are pleasant or unpleasant, desirable or undesirable, agreeable or disagreeable, and enjoyable or non-enjoyable. Devoid of grasping, or passionate egoistic attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation, allowing and respecting all kinds of names and forms being there as they are, allowing them to change and pass away, being undetermined and undisturbed by all kinds of names and forms arising, changing, and passing away.

The enhanced physical and/or mental condition, ability, performance, and achievement that are impermanent, might can help to render the body and mind in certain way for different purposes on the path of yoga, but it is neither an obligatory for self-inquiry and self-realization nor a guarantee that the mind will be free from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance.

The yogi, or the liberated mind, or unconditional peace, is not being determined by the selfless impermanent physical and mental condition, ability, performance, and achievement, not even the momentary concentrated, focused, calmed and quiet state of mind induced by the devoted persevered sincere practice. It's the absence of the idea of 'I' and the egoism of passionate egoistic attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, and/or expectation towards all these selfless impermanent qualities of names and forms, of the limited and conditional adjuncts, that is not 'I', but I-less.

However, if the mind thinks and believes or realizes that the practice of non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving, non-aversion, non-comparison, non-judgment, or non-expectation is too difficult or impossible for itself, where it is unwittingly and constantly be determined and disturbed by what is happening in the body and mind, and in the world, of the absence and presence of all kinds of names and forms that it likes and dislikes, agrees and disagrees with, and desires and doesn't desire, then this mind needs to put in some effort or discipline/commitment into performing the physical and mental yoga practice that come under certain names and forms regularly, such as certain observation and restriction, the yoga asana practice, the breathing exercises, the chanting or sound vibration exercises, the practice of withdrawing the mind from the objects of the senses, the concentration practice, and the meditation practice, that will move the mind away from the worldly passionate egoistic restless affairs for some time, to be turning the outgoing mind inward to be focusing within, that help to induce momentary calmness and quietness, to begin with on the path of yoga, until the mind developed certain degrees of correct understanding and knows how to apply non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving, non-aversion, non-comparison, non-judgment, and non-expectation into everyday life, naturally and effortlessly, and be undetermined and undisturbed by all kinds of names and forms.

There is a huge difference between one who has been practicing yoga asana practice for one year regularly for 6 times a week and one who has been practicing yoga asana practice for ten years irregularly for once a week or once every two weeks. Or, between one who has been practicing yoga asana practice for many years either regularly or irregularly but without eradicating the idea of 'I', passionate egoism, and worldly ideas and desires, and one who has been practicing yoga asana practice for a few months either regularly or irregularly while working diligently on eradicating the idea of 'I', passionate egoism, and worldly ideas and desires. This is not about comparison and/or judgment about who is better or who can achieve better result, but it indicates that how long one has been started practicing yoga and/or yoga asana practice, either regularly or irregularly, doesn't determine that whether the mind is free from ignorance and the by-products and consequences of ignorance, or not.

Non-judgment and non-expectation

The practice of non-judgment is about the mind stops judging oneself and others, under the presence of correct understanding, and at the same time, the mind allows all the others to be what they are, as they are, where others are free to have their own understanding and non-understanding, and have judgment or expectation towards themselves and others, or not, but this mind is not being determined by the judgment or expectation coming from others towards oneself and all the others based on their understanding and non-understanding, action/inaction, and reaction/non-reaction under the influence of their particular thinking, belief, ideas, values, desires, and practice.

It's not about expecting others shouldn't have any judgment or expectation towards oneself at all, and be offended or disturbed by others' judgment or expectation towards oneself and some others.

That's why the practice of non-judgment is always being practiced together with non-expectation, as well as non-comparison, non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving and non-aversion. All these names and forms are non-separated or non-distinct from one another.

All kinds of yoga practice is about understanding what is going on in one's modification of the mind, and purifying, disciplining, or changing the modification of this mind via certain methods or practices of observing certain observations and restrictions, it's not about looking at how all the others practice, understand, behave, act and react, or not, while expecting others to practice, understand, behave, act and react in certain way or not in certain way.

The yoga teacher is merely being there to deliver the teachings and the different practices. And, it's the freedom of the minds of how they want to perceive and react. The minds are free to react towards the delivery of the teachings and practices of yoga by the yoga teacher as a form of judgment or expectation towards themselves to be or not to be in certain way. Similarly, such minds also have the freedom of expecting the teacher to teach in certain way that they desire and agree with, and not in certain way that they don't desire and disagree with. While the teacher also has the freedom to teach in certain way, or not in certain way.

That indicates how deep is the ignorance in the minds, where the minds feel disturbed or offended by the delivery of the teachings and practice of yoga about identifying ignorance, the ego and egoism in one's mind, as well as observing certain observations (do's) and restrictions (don't do's) in order to eradicate ignorance, the ego and egoism. Even this teaching about pointing out, understanding, recognizing and acknowledging towards "The ignorance, egoism, impurities and restlessness in the mind," is being perceived as an offensive 'negative' judgment, feedback, or discouragement by the passionate egoistic minds functioning under the influence of ignorance and egoism.

The minds expect 'reactions' from the teacher,

"You are amazing. You can do and achieve anything that you desire."

"You are such a wonderful wise and compassionate person with such a beautiful mind and kind heart."

"There's nothing wrong with you or your mind. Ignorance doesn't exist in you or your mind."

"Yeah! Well done! You did so well. I am so proud of you! You should be proud of yourself too."

"You are such a good and kind person. You deserve all the love and compliments. You don't deserve any bad people and bad happenings unto you."

For many minds, the presence and availability of what they perceived and recognized as 'positive' feedback, acknowledgements, compliments, and encouragements is 'normal', 'healthy', and 'the way that it should be', while the absence and non-availability of all that, as well as the presence of what they perceived and recognized as 'negative' feedback/acknowledgment, or the truth of themselves that they are not aware of, that they don't like and disagree with, is a form of offensive judgment, criticism, or discouragement.

And many minds are growing up being conditioned to think and believe, to have values, and to act and react in such way.

That is what the ego is about. It wants and needs to receive 'positive' feedback/acknowledgement/praise/compliment/encouragement constantly in order for it to feel good, right, positive, acknowledged, appreciated, accepted, agreed with, validated, loved, supported, deserving, proud, and meaningful about itself and life existence, while it doesn't want and have intense aversion towards coming in contact with anything that it perceives and refers as 'bad', 'negative', 'disagreement', 'non-supportive', or 'non-encouraging', as well as towards the absence of 'positive' feedback and encouragement.

That is what the minds are learning in the yoga class, to identify, recognize and be aware of the ego and egoism, and to understand the egoistic behavior, action, and reaction of the impure mind functioning under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I'/the ego, and egoism, while developing mental and emotional independence, without attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation. And at the same time, working diligently towards the annihilation of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

It's 'nice' to have such comforting agreeable 'positive' interaction and encouragement between the teacher and the students, but it doesn't help to eradicate ignorance, the idea of 'I', and egoism, but only empowers all that, particularly empowering the mental and emotional dependency among the teacher and the students. As even the passionate egoistic teacher also wants and needs to feel that, "I am a good and supportive yoga teacher," and "I am loved and needed by the yoga students."

The mind that is practicing yoga for liberation from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, that is eradicating the ego by 'starving' or 'stop feeding' the ego, is not determined by the presence and absence of 'positive' or 'negative' feedback or acknowledgement from anyone and anywhere. The selfless mind doesn't need the presence of 'positive' feedback and acknowledgement, or the absence of 'negative' feedback and acknowledgement in order to feel good, right, positive, acknowledged, appreciated, accepted, agreed with, validated, loved, supported, deserving, proud, and meaningful about itself or life existence, in order to motivate it to perform actions that are beneficial to oneself and others or to keep learning and improving itself, while allowing all these names and forms being projected by all the other minds to be there, or not.

There are minds that believe in, "We all need love, acknowledgement, and support from one another, to be motivated and encouraged constantly by one another, to keep improving ourselves, to do good, and be good. Or else, we will be lost and aimless, and reluctant to improve, to do good and be good." That's their freedom of thinking, belief, values, desire and practice.

The initiative of want to stop hurting this body and mind as well as all and everything

Out of the mind's own awareness, reason, and freewill, the mind is interested in learning and performing the yoga and meditation practice, and is determined to free the modification of the mind from the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, out of the initiative of want to stop hurting this body and mind as well as stop hurting all and everything out of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance.

Under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I' (the ego), egoism, impurities and restlessness, the thinking and acting mind that is functioning under the influence of the idea of 'I' keeps hurting the body and mind with the ceaseless actions and reactions being generated under the influence of the desires of craving and aversion towards the pleasant or unpleasant, desirable or undesirable, and agreeable or disagreeable names and forms, in order to achieve or gratify all its boundless desires of craving and aversion, aspirations, ambitions, visions, and expectations, in accordance to its likes and dislikes, desires and doesn't desires, or agreements and disagreements, under the influence of certain conditional thinking, belief, ideas, values, desires, and practices.

"I want the mind to be like this and not like that. I want the body to be like this and not like that. I want the body and mind to be able to do this and achieve that."

And, under the same influences and the desires of craving and aversion, the thinking and acting mind also keeps hurting all and everything.

"I want and expect all and everything to be like this and not like that. I want and expect the world to be like this and not like that. I want and expect all and everyone to think, to believe, to value, to desire, to practice, to behave, and to act and react like this and not like that." Or, "I love you very much. But I will be very angry with you, as I will feel disappointed and hurt by you, if you don't love me and behave in the way that I want and expect you to love me and behave. And if I am very angry, I will be punishing and hurting you with my hurtful thoughts, actions, and speech."

That is not love at all. This mind only loves its desires. This mind doesn't even love itself, not to say, it doesn't love anyone or anything at all, regardless of whether it's between lovers/spouses, or between parent and children, or among siblings, or among friends, or among the members of the community in the world. This mind just want to be able to control all and everything to be the way that it desires, or to gratify/achieve all its desires/ambitions the way that it likes and agrees with.

The mind that realizes this, "Oh, what have I been doing? I have been hurting this body and mind, as well as hurting all and everything, including whom and what I think I love very much, and whom and what have been kind and compassionate to this body and mind, not to say, I have been hurting all and everything that I don't like, that I don't desire, and that I don't agree with, ignorantly and intentionally," there might or might not be an initiative of not wanting to hurt the body and mind as well as all and everything anymore.

Some minds might continue to hurt the body and mind, as well as all and everything, intentionally, under the awareness of, "Yes, I am aware of this is something hurtful, and yet, I don't care. I want to achieve all my desires and ambitions. I still want and expect this body and mind, as well as all and everything to be the way that I like and desire them to be." That's their freedom of thinking and desire and action. It is also their own responsibility towards their actions and the consequences of their actions out of their thinking and desire.

Some minds might have the initiative of want to stop hurting the body and mind as well as all and everything, regardless of whether someone or something that the mind likes or dislikes, desires or doesn't desire, agrees or disagrees with, and loves or doesn't love. That is the beginning of the practice.

Appreciate this selfless impermanent existence and function of this body and mind, without attachment or identification. Make good use of the existing knowledge, talents, skills, experiences, good conditions, abilities, positions, and opportunities that this body and mind has, to be performing actions that would be benefiting all and everyone unconditionally, without forcing the body and mind beyond its limitation, without hurting the body and mind, and without attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation towards the actions and the fruit/result of actions. Just do one's best, and let it go.

Want to learn and practice yoga? (9)

The practice of letting go judgment, comparison and expectation in the teachings of yoga, is exactly the opposite of the worldly thinking, belief, values and practice, in the competitive world of various forms of intelligence, talents, sports, skills, business and professionalism, that is mostly result, success and achievement orientated, that is about the development/empowerment of personal, family, community, school, company and national pride, determining the sense of self-esteem, self-worth, satisfaction and meaningfulness, through constant judgment, comparison and expectation from oneself and others towards the qualities of names and forms in oneself, and between/among different individuals and groups.

There's neither right nor wrong, it's just different approach, mentality, understanding and goal towards exerting energy into performing certain actions/practices/trainings that would lead towards what different minds defined as the highest development, improvement, transition, achievement or purpose for oneself and/or for others, in this life existence.

In the worldly thinking and practice, in order to motivate and inspire oneself to work harder and be better, one should constantly comparing oneself with oneself in the past, as well as comparing with all the others, to have great expectation towards oneself to become better and better, to be better than oneself in the past and be able to stand out among the others, and there's no end to continuous growth, improvement and achievement. That is deriving from egoism as well as empowering egoism. While in yoga, one can still be constantly improving one's physical and mental performance without the need of judgment, comparison and expectation.

No doubt that the body and mind is subject to decay and deterioration, and will stop 'growing' and followed by gradual decaying process at certain point, however, the body and mind can be maintaining certain degrees of good health and fitness level up to certain extend through engaging in certain regular healthy routine of mental and physical training and maintenance in moderation. Either over-use or under-use is not good for anything.

That's why in the teaching and practice of yoga, there are certain physical and mental training that could help to maintain certain degrees of physical and mental health and fitness level, if being practiced regularly under the correct understanding and attitude, but there's no attachment or identification, judgment or comparison, desire of craving and aversion or expectation towards the impermanent condition of the physical body and the state of the mind, knowing that it's the nature of the body and mind for being impermanent, as well as deterioration/decaying is the inevitable truth of all kinds of selfless names and forms, no matter how much effort being put into the maintenance of this body and mind. There's no dissatisfaction, disappointment, unhappiness or painful sorrow when the body and mind are losing youth, strength and mobility, experiencing aging, decaying, weakening, illness, injury, pain, discomfort, and approaching towards old age, death or decomposition.

In the yoga practice, one is practicing non-judgment, non-comparison and non-expectation in one's yoga practice as well as in daily life affairs, actions, activities and relationships with everyone and everything, either from oneself towards oneself, or towards others and among all kinds of names and forms. Respecting the perceived reality in the present moment now, as it is, as it changes from moment to moment, not necessarily pleasant, agreeable or desirable, without attachment or identification towards one's efforts and actions, and the fruit of one's efforts and actions.

Those who are free from judgment, comparison and expectation towards oneself and others, can still be doing one's best while engaging in various types of 'healthy' competitions, that promotes good health and fitness for the body and mind, as well as promoting sportsmanship and friendship among the different diversities in the world through the engagement of various forms of 'healthy' competitions. It's not so much about 'winning', but the entire process of persevered training and constant improving, physically and mentally, as well as the importance of sportsmanship in any competitions.

'Unhealthy' competitions are those that emphasized on the result, where 'winning'/'victory'/'success'/'effort well paid off'/'fame' is the highest goal of the persevered training, that promotes personal/group/national identity pride, and the sense of superiority, satisfaction and meaningfulness, where the minds might have difficulty in accepting 'failure', and would generate disappointment or shamefulness in oneself, and generate jealousy, resentment and hatred towards others who perform better than oneself, who beaten oneself in any kinds of competitions, while being demotivated to keep training or keep improving, after experiencing 'not winning'/'losing'/'failing' for certain times.

Healthy competitions are those that are about sportsmanship, and constant improvement of certain physical and mental talents, skills, performances and abilities, of certain business/professional strategies and services, to be using those enhanced talents, skills, abilities, strategies and services that can contribute to the world in certain way.

Healthy minds participating in healthy competitions are able to accept failure/not winning/losing, and don't generate disappointment or shamefulness in oneself, and don't generate jealousy, resentment or hatred towards others who perform better than oneself, who beaten oneself in any kinds of competitions, while still be persevered in one's learning/practice/training to continuously keep improving and keep trying, until one's retirement from such competitions. And it's okay, if after trying one's best, one still never win any competitions until one's retirement. That is actually more important than the one who is the best in one particular moment, who beats all the other competitors, or who stands out among all the others at that particular moment. And all are impermanent. The all time winners of any particular physical or mental competitions, will also have to retire, or passed way one day, as the body and mind is subject to decay or deterioration, even among the strongest or smartest people.

While being free from judgment, comparison, or expectation, just do one's best, without attachment and identification, will allow the mind to be free from unnecessary tension/pressure that would be affecting the physical and mental performance, and allowing the mind to be in the moment during the entire process of persevered physical and/or mental practice/training/development/improvement, and/or while engaging in any forms of competitions in the competitive world, without being distracted by judgment, comparison or expectation.

The relaxed/tension-free body and mind while engaging in physical and/or mental yoga practices will allow the mind to be fully attentive on the practice, being aware of the impermanent ability and limitation in the present moment, without forcing the body and mind beyond its limitation, which can help to minimize the risk of injury, as well as allowing the body and mind to be absorbing the effects/benefits of the practice more efficiently, without any expectation, craving or aversion towards the ability and disability of the body and mind in the present moment, or towards the effect/benefit/result/fruit of the practice, allowing the effect/benefit/result/fruit of practice being what it is.

Everyone has a different condition of the body and state of the mind, and it's impermanent. What the body and mind can do or cannot do, can achieve or cannot achieve in this present moment, is impermanent, and might be different from all the others. There's nothing to be comparing and judging about. Especially the yoga teacher and the yoga students in the yoga practice. The yoga teachers cannot say, "I can do this, so can you." Or in certain yoga teachers training courses, all students of 'aspired yoga teachers' are required to be able to do certain yoga asana poses, in order to pass the examination, and be graduated and qualified as 'certified yoga teachers'. That's pure ignorance.

The mind that is aware of ignorance and egoism, that is free from ignorance and egoism, that realized selflessness, compassion and unconditional peace, doesn't even need to be able to perform any yoga asana poses/chanting and prayer or possessing any 'recognized yoga teacher certification' to be guiding others onto the path of yoga.

Inquire the truth of everything.

Letting go?

If there's no attachment, there's needless of letting go.

If there's attachment towards either something pleasant or unpleasant, enjoyable or painful, then know that everything is impermanent.

If one knows what is non-attachment towards what is pleasant and enjoyable, then one can fully appreciate and enjoy what is pleasant and enjoyable, but will be able to let it go in peace when impermanence strikes. If there's attachment and one doesn't know how to let go, then there will be dissatisfaction, disappointment, unhappiness, hurts or painful sorrow upon losing what one likes very much, that is pleasant and enjoyable. And there's nothing wrong with that, just that one needs to know that even those dissatisfaction, disappointment, unhappiness, hurts or painful sorrow are also impermanent.

When one is holding onto something unpleasant or painful, and one cannot withstand the unpleasantness or pain, one can choose to let go of it, by putting it down without hurting it, without regret of letting go something that one likes very much, but it's unpleasant and painful. A lot of time, most people would just react spontaneously if they dislike the unpleasantness or pain, or couldn't forbear the unpleasantness or pain, and would be throwing away immediately whatever that appears to be unpleasant or painful to oneself, and cause damages to that either wittingly or unwittingly.

There's nothing wrong if one decided to continuously holding onto something that one likes very much even though it's unpleasant or painful, but then, one must also accept the consequences of that and endure all the unpleasantness or pain due to unwilling to let go something that appears to be unpleasant or painful to oneself, without expectation towards this unpleasantness or pain will change or disappear, but allowing the changes to be what they are, not necessarily the way that one would like it to be.

It's everyone's freedom for whether they want to let go, and be free, or they don't want to let go, and accept the consequences of one's action and decision of not letting go.

Be free.

Love dispassionately, desirelessly, compassionately and unconditionally

Whether the past experiences were something good or not good, pleasant or unpleasant, happy or unhappy, desirable or undesirable, let them go.

Whether the future will be okay or not okay, let it be.

Do our best, perform all our duties and responsibilities without forcing ourselves beyond our limitation, and let go the fruit of action.

Live in the present, and whether this present is good or not good, this is also impermanent.

Live as we are, without attachment, identification, craving and aversion, judgment, comparison and expectation.

Love everyone as they are, without attachment, identification, craving and aversion, judgment, comparison and expectation.

Love ourselves, be free from clinging and craving towards love and kindness from others. Allow others to love and be kind to us, or not.

If one knows how to take care oneself, which is taking care of one's mind and loving oneself, one can love others dispassionately, desirelessly, compassionately and unconditionally. One stops hurting oneself and others, especially those whom we think we love and whom are in a relationship with us.

Be free.

Let go attachment, identification and expectation in all relationships

If we truly love those who are in all kinds of relationships with us, whom we think we love, and if we love them, we will wish everyone be peaceful and be happy while being in the relationships with us, then we need to let go attachment, identification and expectation towards ourselves, the relationships and the people in the relationships with us. Otherwise, whether intentionally or unintentionally, we will keep hurting ourselves and everyone whom we think we love, who are in a form of relationship/connection with us. There's no love. There's only possessiveness and endless selfish desires (towards the people whom we think we love and the relationships we have with everyone) waiting to be gratified.

Especially in love relationships, if a person truly loves us, we don't need to say or do anything to expect or control this person's behavior so that he or she will not or shall not do anything that is unkind or unloving or hurtful to us. If a person would do something that is unkind or unloving or hurtful to us, out of selfish desires, dissatisfaction, greed and lust, whether within or without our knowledge, then this person doesn't love us, even though this person thinks he or she loves us, and we love and care for this person very much, because this person doesn't even love himself or herself. They only love what they like and want (desires). In this case, we can let this person and the relationship with this person go, even though we love this person, but we don't have to be in a relationship with this person who doesn't love us or appreciate us. And more importantly, it's that we won't feel hurt by this person's unkind, unloving or hurtful behavior if we truly love this person as he is, as she is. We wish him or her love and peace, and let him or her go to chase after their desires that they like and want, which they can't get (enough) from being in a relationship with us. Meanwhile, we are happy and peaceful and live life meaningfully as we are, because we don't depend on other people's love and kindness or any relationships to make us feel happy or meaningful about ourselves and our life existence.

If we think we love this person very much, and we reluctant to let go this person and this relationship, but, at the same time we feel disturbed and hurt by this person's unkind, unloving and hurtful behavior, then this is our own responsibility, as we don't want to let go. This also means that we don't love this person either, we only love what we like and want, and we only want to possess this person to be 'mine', and to possess this person's love and the relationship with this person. We want him or her to behave in certain ways. We want our relationship with him or her to be in certain ways. We want him or her to love and treat us in certain ways. It's all about what we like and want. And when we don't get what we like and want, but we are getting what we don't like and don't want, or when what we like and want has changed into something that we don't like and don't want, or we are losing what we like and want, we feel disturbed and hurt, disappointed and angry. It's not because the person in the relationship with us is not loving or unkind, or their behavior is bad and wrong that is hurting us, or has the power to hurt us. It's our own attachment, identification and expectation that hurts our ego, which is unnecessary.

This is the same as in all our relationships with everyone and everything, whether it's with family, siblings, parents, children, friends, society, things, and the world that we live in. We think we love this and that. We think we love the world that we live in. And we constantly feel disturbed and hurt, disappointed and angry when people and things that we love, or the world that we love, are not the way that we like or want it to be. It's merely ignorance and egoism.

Be free, whether we have any kind of relationship with anyone, or not, and whether the relationships we have with everyone are good and long lasting, or not. There's no attachment, identification or expectation. There's no unfulfilled desires, dissatisfaction, disappointment, anger, hatred, jealousy, hurts, guilt, fear and worry.

Allow everyone to love us and be kind to us, and to be in a relationship with us, or not. Love everyone as they are, even though they don't love us, or they are unkind to us, or they don't want to be in a relationship (anymore) with us.

Be free.

'Good people'?

The term 'good' might mean differently for different people. What is 'good' for some people might not be 'good' for some other people, and vice versa.

What happens when we recognize some people as 'good people', and we tell them, "You are a good person."? Usually it's when our minds perceive and feel touched by some qualities in these people which our minds recognize and agree as 'good' qualities based on the thinking and belief in our minds about what are 'good' qualities. What are 'good' qualities for some people might be different for some other people.

Most of the time, when people act and react or behave in the way that our minds like and agree with, our minds would identify and categorize these people as 'good people'. For example, when someone gives us what we want, or when someone gives us the help that we needed, or when someone fulfills our desires, or when someone shows agreement/ approval/support/encouragement/appreciation/gratefulness/thankfulness towards something that is directly or indirectly concerning ourselves, our lives, our thinking, our beliefs, our values, our visions, and our actions, then our minds will react with delight, and will acknowledge and identify this person as one of the 'good people'. We will tell this person, "Oh, you are such a good/nice/wonderful person."

But what happens when people don't act and react or behave in the way that our minds like and agree with, or they act and react or behave in the way that our minds dislike and disagree with, our minds would identify and categorize these people as 'not good people'. What happens when a person doesn't give us what we want, or doesn't give us the help that we needed, or doesn't fulfill our desires, or doesn't show agreement/ approval/support/encouragement/appreciation/gratefulness/thankfulness towards something that is directly or indirectly concerning ourselves, our lives, our thinking, our beliefs, our values, our visions, and our actions? Our minds will react with dissatisfaction, disappointment, unhappiness and resentment. Our minds will categorize and identify this person as 'not a good person' or 'not a nice person', just because they don't give us what we want or they give us what we don't want, or our desires are not being gratified, or we are not getting what we like and want in the way that we think it should be or the way that we would like it to be.

This shows that in many cases, what our minds think and recognize and identify as 'good people' and 'not good people' can be impulsive judgments based on our desires of likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, and wants and don't wants, and based on a particular thinking and beliefs about how people should and shouldn't act and react or behave.

We can perform inquiry by applying this mind behavior of judging what is 'good' and 'not good' onto anything that we can think of - 'good citizen', 'good teacher/student', 'good father/mother', 'good son/daughter', 'good brother/sister', 'good husband/wife', 'good friend/lover', 'good man/woman', 'good Buddhist/Christian/Muslim/Hindu/and others', 'good yogi', and so on... And we will see, most of the time the judgment about what is 'good' and 'not good' is based on what pleases us, or not, according to our thinking and beliefs about how everyone should/shouldn't behave, our personal likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, and the way that we think it should be and what we want them to be.

For example, when our teacher gives us what we like and want, we will say, "This is a good teacher." and when our teacher doesn't give us what we like and want, we will say, "This is not a good teacher."
Or when our husband/wife behave in the way that we want them to behave and gives us what we want, we will say, "You are a good husband/wife." and when our husband/wife doesn't behave in the way that we want them to behave and doesn't give us what we want, we will say, "You are not a good husband/wife."

When people feel happy and satisfied as they are pleased when we gratified all their desires and they tell us, "You are such a good/lovely/nice person." we can ask them, "Let's see if I couldn't please you when I can't gratify all your desires of what you want and don't want, will you still think and say that I am a good/lovely/nice person?"

The teachings and practice of yoga and meditation is to free the mind from all sorts of worldly attachment and identification with qualities of names and forms, and be free from impulsive judgements based on desires of craving and aversion under the influence of personal thinking and beliefs.

'Good people' who 'want' to be good and do good, who want to be recognized/labeled as 'good people', are not necessarily 'peaceful and happy' if there is egoism, attachment, identification, desires of craving and aversion, and expectation. The possession of some 'good' qualities in oneself and the identification as 'good people' doesn't determine that one will be peaceful and happy.

It doesn't mean that one has to be in good mood and behave 'nicely' or 'appropriately' all the time, so that one will not be disqualified as 'good people'. Those who do their best to be good and do good might not be always 'right' and 'know best' all the time, or won't make any mistakes and bad decisions in life. It's okay that we are not always right and we could be wrong some of the times, that we don't know best, that we are not in good mood all the time or we might not behave 'nicely' and 'appropriately' some of the times, and that we might make mistakes and bad decisions in life, as long as we are aware of the 'wrong', 'deficiency', 'bad mood', 'bad behavior', 'mistakes' and 'bad decisions', without denial or self-criticism towards all these 'not good' qualities, without attachment and identification, and are not being over-powered by pride and arrogance to justify the 'bad' qualities relate to oneself, or try to blame some other people or things for the qualities that we don't like about ourselves.

Most people growing up and living their entire lives being told or disciplined to be 'good', to do 'good' and to be 'good people', or to have a 'good and meaningful life' according to particular guidelines or standards about what is 'good' and 'good people', about what is 'good and meaningful life'. Many people ended up being disappointed and unhappy with themselves or other people for not being able to be perfectly 'good' or live a 'good and meaningful life' as what they expect themselves and other people to be.

Peace and happiness is not determined by whether we think we are 'good people' or 'not good people' and whether we live a life that is 'good and meaningful', or not. It is whether we think we are 'good' and 'good enough', and having a 'good and meaningful' life, or not, there is no egoism, attachment, identification, desires of craving and aversion, and expectation. When we perform actions that we think and believe are 'good' actions or when we behave in the way that we think is 'good', it's not because we want to be 'good people', or we want to live a 'good and meaningful' life. It's not because we want to be recognized and acknowledged by ourselves or other people as 'good people'.

There's nothing wrong and it's okay if other people don't recognize/acknowledge us as 'good people' or they recognize/acknowledge us as 'not good people' when they feel unhappy, dissatisfied, disappointed and resent when we didn't give them what they want, or didn't fulfill their desires of craving and aversion, or we didn't act and react or behave in the way that they expect us to be. That's their freedom of reaction, thinking and expectation.

Everyone is just what they are, and they act and react or behave as they are. It's neither good nor not good, neither nice nor not nice, neither right nor wrong.

Allowing everyone to be what they are, as what our minds think whether they are 'good people' or 'not good people', it's not the truth of who they are. What our minds think and what other people think whether ourselves are 'good people' or 'not good people', it's not the truth of who we are.

There's no 'I' to be identify as 'good people' or 'not good people'.

Non-comparison in yoga

"If I can do it, so can you!"
"Look! It's possible for them, it should be possible for you too!"
"This is so easy. You should be able to do it."
"Think positive! Believe in yourself! You can do it!"

All these motivational positive encouragements comparing someone with others to motivate a person to achieve something and the practice of positive thinking to motivate someone to perform a task, are nothing wrong or bad. But, this is not the teaching and practice of yoga.

There are different conditions, abilities and limitations in different people. And all kinds of conditions, abilities and limitations are impermanent and it's not 'I'.

The easiest or most comfortable positions or practice for some people might be challenging or very uncomfortable for some other people, and vice versa. Different people come from different life backgrounds and experiences have very different reactions towards the positions and practice. We can never compare one with another about what they can do or can't do, and what they should do or shouldn't do.

It's about knowing the conditions, abilities and limitations of the body and mind in the present moment now, and perform actions that are possible in the present moment, and achieve what is possible in the present moment, without comparison with the past conditions, abilities and limitations, without comparison with other people's conditions, abilities and limitations, without forcing the body and mind beyond its present conditions, abilities and limitations. Meanwhile, being aware of the conditions, abilities and limitations in the present moment now are impermanent and there's no identification with any conditions, abilities and limitations to be identifying as 'I'.

It's just what is possible and impossible in the moment without attachment towards the possibilities or impossibilities that are impermanent.

There's nothing wrong or bad with 'impossibilities'. It's okay if something is being 'impossible' and for us to be experiencing 'impossibilities'. It's okay that there are things which our body and mind can't do or can't achieve in the present moment, or even until the last moment of the existence of this body and mind. But we do our best, and keep doing our best, without attachment towards our efforts and the results of our efforts.

'Anything is possible' doesn't mean that everything is possible. It's about being open-minded towards any possibilities (both possibility and impossibility), without expectation towards anything to be possible or impossible. It's okay if there are things that are not in our control or wishes to be the way that we like it to be or the way that we think it should be. By telling ourselves and others that 'everything is possible', but only limited to the things that we want to achieve or things that we want them to happen, and for the things that we don't want them to happen, we don't want them to be possible, is denying and running away from the reality that we don't like and don't want.

Acknowledging that 'not everything is possible' makes 'anything is possible' possible. Allowing the possibility for possibilities and impossibilities.

It's okay if we can't do something that we would like to be able to do or achieve something that we would like to achieve. What we can do or can't do and what we achieve or don't achieve, has nothing to do with the realization of unconditional peace and compassion.

Everything is just what it is. It is neither possible or impossible.

Thinking positively won't change the truth of impermanence and selflessness to be what it is. Thinking positively every moment hoping everything is good and pleasant, that the world will be free from all kinds of suffering, will not stop different beings from experiencing different kinds of suffering. It's the actual effort of self-inquiry to be free from ignorance through self-realization of the truth of suffering will free oneself from suffering. It's nothing to do with positive thinking.
