The veil of ignorance that is formed naturally upon the presence of conscious and semi-conscious awareness under the state of consciousness and semi-consciousness, upon the activation of the conscious function of the mind perception/cognition perceiving, knowing, remembering, and recognizing the existence and function of the body and mind itself and the external surrounding environment, where there is the thinking process of self acknowledgement, or the idea of 'I', or the ego, arise in the form of a continuous stream of thought/idea/thinking in the selfless impermanent limited and conditional modification of the mind that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to the selfless mind itself, that is existing and functioning being part of the many selfless mechanisms of the selfless physical structure of the conscious sentient living organisms that are all selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.
The presence of conscious self acknowledgement, or the idea of 'I', or the ego, gives rise to egoistic action and reaction (egoism), of grasping/clinging, that gives rise to all kinds of attachment, ties and connection, relationship, identification, desire of craving and aversion, judgment, comparison, and expectation towards all kinds of names and forms being perceived through the senses via the sense organs, that gives rise to all kinds of evitable impurities and the sense of subject and object, or dualities/separateness/discrimination/selfishness/possessiveness/ties and connections/relationships/interactive activities/communications, that give rise to boundless inspirations and aspirations, or discontentment and greed, or fear and worry, or dissatisfaction and disappointment, or offensiveness and defensiveness, or intimidation and hurt, or anger and hatred, or resentment and bitterness, or jealousy and envy, and etc, which formed the disturbed agitated stimulated egoistic impure restless state of mind, that hinders the mind to perceive, know, reason, or understand all and everything as it is, which is what the veil of ignorance is about.
There is neither bad, nor wrong, nor sinful, nor bad karma, nor punishment deserving, nor suffering deserving, about all those selfless conscious and semi-conscious egoistic activities in the selfless perceptive/cognitive/intellectual/emotional/thinking/acting mind/faculty/mechanism of the selfless conscious sentient living organisms.
The veil of ignorance is merely a natural formation/manifestation/phenomena that comes along with the presence of conscious and semi-conscious awareness, upon the activation of the conscious and semi-conscious thought process/modification of the mind in the state of consciousness/wakefulness and semi-consciousness/semi-awake/semi-sleep/dreaming, while there is absence of such egoistic activities in the state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/coma, or in the autistic minds, where the selfless impermanent limited and conditional physical and mental activities for life maintenance are running/operating/functioning selflessly and ego-lessly under the mechanisms of different autonomous bodily systems that perform their own respective duty as it is, while inter-responding/communicating among each other, selflessly, ego-lessly, and intentionlessly.
Even though the presence of the veil of ignorance is neither good nor bad, however, out of ignorance, or under the influence of the veil of ignorance, the selfless egoistic mind habitually and ignorantly generates boundless egoistic actions and reactions that would be hurting itself and others and the surrounding environment, even if under the presence of 'good and righteous' intention/aspiration of what the mind thinks and believes as 'good, righteous, positive, constructive, and meaningful' based on the existing particular inherited/adopted/developed way of thinking, ideas, beliefs, values, and practices in the mind about what is good and bad, what is right and wrong, what is positive and negative, what is constructive and destructive, or what is meaningful and meaningless, which is NOT the truth of what things are.
Upon the direct realization towards the truth of Selflessness, Impermanence, Limitation, Conditional, and Non-self, the mind might or might not be performing activities/actions that would be beneficial to all and everyone and everything in the surrounding environment that doesn't belong to anyone or anything, selflessly, ego-lessly, intentionlessly, indiscriminately, and unconditionally.
The only 'challenge' is that, it has to come from each mind itself to be aware of while acknowledging the presence of ignorance in itself, without being over-powered by it, without the sense of inferiority, or shame, or humiliation, or animosity, or self-blame, or self-punish, without association or identification with the presence of the veil of ignorance in the thought process/modification of the mind as, "I am ignorant, or I am bad and wrong, or I am evil and terrible, or I am stupid and useless," while replacing such thinking and understanding with, "I am not ignorance. Ignorance is not I. I am like the mirror and the ignorance is like the dust and stains on the mirror. The dust and stains on the mirror can be removed under certain effort and method, so is the ignorance can be removed under certain effort and method," and has the initiation and intense yearning to do something about it, to free itself from ignorance, via its own effort and determination, out of its own limited conscious freewill and partial incomplete understanding, to attain absolute knowledge and complete correct understanding, or wisdom.
Because under the influence of ignorance and egoism, most minds would perceive, or judge, or understand, or recognize, or label the presence of the veil of ignorance in its thought process/modification of the mind, is something bad, wrongful, evilness, sinful, negative, inferior, weakness, shortcoming, failure, laziness, condemn/punishment/suffering/shame/humiliation deserving, genetically inherited, inevitable that it couldn't be removed no matter what and how, and etc. Some minds would become even more motivated to get out of such condition desperately, while most minds would become highly demotivated by the presence of such thinking and understanding in the mind, thinking and believing that, "I am ignorant and I can't do anything about it, and I wouldn't be able to be free from ignorance no matter how much I want and try, because ignorance is so deep rooted in me. I am born like that, and I can't change that," which is incorrect thinking and understanding.
"All are impermanent, limited, and conditional (modifiable/changeable under the presence or absence of certain limited condition)."
It is not about instilling hope for the hopeless, but it is a factual information/knowledge that,
"Even the most evil and most ignorant mind in the world, can also be free from ignorance, if there is the intense yearning towards liberation from ignorance a.k.a. intense yearning towards absolute knowledge, under the presence of intense determination and perseverance."
One doesn't need to be super extraordinary, or super intelligent, or super knowledgeable, or highly educated, or highly virtuous and meritorious, in order to free the mind from the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, or to annihilate the veil of ignorance, or to become quiet and at peace unconditionally, as long as there is the conscious perception/cognition towards all these.
The mind that is unconscious or unaware under the absence of conscious/semi-conscious awareness/perception/cognition towards all these (neither enjoying nor suffering), or the conscious/semi-conscious mind that is conscious and aware, but it is indulging in the impermanent limited conditional process of enjoying this or that, and hence, there is absence of desperation or yearning towards liberation from ignorance, or suffering.
There is neither good nor bad, neither right nor wrong, about the presence and absence of conscious/semi-conscious awareness and the desperation/yearning towards liberation from ignorance, or suffering.
One just needs to keep practicing and keep going undertaking the middle path, and be able to make necessary adjustment, adaptation, and accommodation towards any unforeseen and challenging conditions and situations that are all impermanent, limited, and conditional, and go beyond all kinds of worldly passionate egoistic traditional and non-traditional (ancient or new age) ideas, beliefs, values, and practices about all and everything.
Quiet the mind, and inquire the truth of everything, and be free.
