The basic essential and inevitable basic economy development and growth in the modern world, to create, support, and maintain the livelihood of all and everyone to achieve sufficiency in basic survival needs, is not the problem at all.
It is the ambitious greedy way of economy development and growth to support and maintain and empower the endless and boundless greedy desires, inspirations, aspirations, ambitions, and visions of the human beings towards achieving and possessing and enjoying 'limitless abundance and boundless pleasurable enjoyments', beyond the 'essential sufficiency in basic needs and supportive elements for everyday living', that is the problem.
The essential sufficiency in basic needs and supportive elements for everyday living in the modern world - Clean and safe food, water, air, and living space (housing/shelter/refuge), freedom of existence/movement/thinking/action/speech/expression, mental and emotional independence, internal and external peace and harmony, basic essential education for the development of clarity of thinking and correct understanding, on top of basic and higher education for the development of literacy, language, communication, interest, skill, talent, science, technology, engineering, architecture, sports, and leisure health and fitness activities, safety awareness and life saving skill, medical health awareness, care, and treatment, efficient public service and management, basic infrastructure under regular maintenance that support and benefit everyday living and movement or activity, agriculture and vegetation and food produce and distribution, sustainable environmental friendly energy production and distribution, hygiene and sewage and rubbish management, sufficient public spaces and facilities under regular maintenance for physical health and fitness activities, that is essential for the development and maintenance of physical and mental well-being (the presence of clarity of thinking and correct understanding), that is essential for maintaining peace and harmony in the surrounding environment that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.
Sufficiency and simplicity and contentment can co-exist in all THAT. The existence and function of all those basic essentials and their regular maintenance is more than enough to be supporting 'the basic essential economy development and maintenance' that provides sufficient income through jobs and businesses, for living in the modern world, that is nothing to do with the greedy ambition of making as much profits/money/wealth as possible, as quick as possible, and as less effort as possible, by exploiting and harming all and everyone and everything and the surrounding environment to the maximum in order to 'keep boosting' the economy growth to the maximum, in order for a small group of people to be 'getting onto' the ship of 'the rich and the upper social class' or 'the super rich and the super upper class', to enjoy 'endless abundance of high-end luxurious lifestyle and status, and boundless pleasurable enjoyments, possessions, and activities'.
None need to be generate and accumulate and hoard excessive wealth, to be 'rich', not to say, 'super rich'.
Many minds are being over-powered by the sense of 'insecurity and discontentment' and aversion/rejection towards 'sufficiency' and 'simplicity' and 'contentment', being conditioned and empowered by the world of ignorance and egoism, in order to 'get onto' the ship of 'the rich and the upper social class', and if possible the ship of 'the super rich and the super upper class', that have very limited space due to the limitation of resources to be exploited in order to achieve that type of 'status' and 'lifestyle' and 'enjoyments and activities' that are high energy consuming excessively and unnecessarily, that gives rise to all kinds of unnecessary ceaseless ongoing excessive exploitation towards all and everyone and everything and the surrounding environment to the maximum, that is impacting, hurting, and destroying the over-all well-being of the minds (the mental health of the human beings that impacts all and everything), and that is impacting, hurting, and destroying the conducive livable atmosphere, climate, Eco system, environment, condition, and situation under the name/idea/values/propagation of the ambitious greedy economy development and growth that is fed by 'ceaseless investments in ceaseless productivity to produce boundless products/objects/ideas/infrastructures/activities/spaces to cater all kinds of endless greedy desires, that are beyond 'the sufficiency in basic needs for survival and maintaining the over-all physical and mental well-being', that bring along the boundless side-effects/consequences of all THAT.
Under the existence and empowerment of such 'trend' or 'idea, belief, values, aspiration, and practice', there are more and more minds are broken/damaged/hurt/drained/in painful suffering, or there are more and more mentally unwell and disturbed human beings that gives rise to hurtful behavior unto oneself and others and the surrounding environment, on top of there are ceaseless environmental damages (air pollution, water pollution, earth/soil pollution, rubbish pollution, toxic elements pollution, climate imbalanced, Eco system broken and collapsing, frequent extreme weather conditions leads to frequent extreme natural disasters, food production collapsing, famine, diseases, desperation, and so on), deriving from the many non-essential ceaseless and boundless productivity and activities of human beings for stimulating and boosting 'the economy' to the maximum, to cater the endless and boundless greedy desires/aspirations/ambitions beyond the essential basic needs for survival and supportive elements for living in the modern world.
How many minds/human beings growing up were/are being told and influenced by the parents, the elders, the relatives, the teachers, the politicians, the leaders, the 'successful and wealthy rich people', the surrounding everyone, the cultural inputs, the social media inputs, the educational inputs, the spiritual and religious inputs, the national and political inputs, or the commercial and advertisement inputs, about study hard and work hard and play a little, to be making a living and be inspired to be ambitious, and then, work smart and invest smart and play hard, and be motivated to be highly ambitious, with one particular goal, to be achieving 'the superior status' and 'the high-end lifestyle', or 'the luxurious enjoyments, possessions, and activities' of 'the rich and the upper social class', or 'the super rich and the super upper class', that 'provide' them the fleeting sense of 'financial security', of 'abundance' or 'endless abundance', that is built on the ongoing excessive exploitation towards all and everyone and everything to the maximum? Plenty.
After studying and working hard, while play a little and save a little, and manage to achieve a simple and practical 'place/space/shelter/house/apartment' to live in and take shelter/rest, and have sufficient simple nutritional food and clean water and air for life maintenance, to be looking after the general well-being of oneself and those dependent on oneself, the minds are being conditioned/influenced/manipulated/threatened/tempted/bullied/exploited to want more - "You want this. You need this. You deserve this!", in order to 'boost' the economy for some people to get onto the ship of 'the rich and the super rich', or 'the higher social class status', that feeds the high-end luxurious lifestyle, enjoyments, possessions, and activities.
The minds are ceaselessly being influenced/manipulated/threatened/tempted/bullied/exploited to want not only a few, but more and more expansion/extension/stimulation of everything, of ceaseless accumulation and enjoyment of non-essential objects of the senses, decorations, fashions, accessories, and branded designer goods for the body and mind and the living space, expansion of family members, ceaseless physical/mental/emotional/material enjoyments and possessions and experiences of boundless gadgets and toys, social network building and activities, entertainments, all kinds of non-essential conveniences, and engagement in multiple money making investments, such as multiple money schemes and multiple property investments, while being caught up with higher and higher daily/short-term/long-term expenses and debts accumulation and repayment that are truly unnecessary, in order to achieve so called 'abundance' or 'endless abundance', of endless wealth generation/accumulation/hoarding for achieving and supporting a high-end luxury lifestyle with boundless pleasurable enjoyments, possessions, and activities.
This is not about 'hating the rich and the upper class', or 'money and commercialism is evil and untouchable', or 'against advance science and technology', or 'all and everyone should be living under extreme difficult condition of insufficiency in basic needs and poverty', or 'all and everyone should be "uniformed" under one particular idea, belief, values, and practice, under one vision, one big family, one human race, one leadership, one nation, or one organization', or 'equal distribution of wealth or resources', or 'accumulation of good/bad/neutral karma' or 'merits and virtues and sins', under certain political, or national, or spiritual and religious ideas, beliefs, values, visions, inspirations, aspirations, and agendas.
Simplicity and contentment and sufficiency, or renunciation and dispassion, or desirelessness and non-greedy, don't mean living under extreme difficult and poor or hazardous and detrimental condition and situation.
Money transaction and commercialism as well as advance science and technology is neither good nor bad, neither right nor wrong, depending on the state of the minds. It can appear to be merely a form of convenient tool that improve quality of living, if the minds are free from ignorance and greed or power greedy and wealth hoarding. It is the presence of ignorance and greed or power greedy and hoarding of wealth in the minds, that make money transaction and commercialism appears to be evil, and the advance science and technology is widely being misused for something harmful and destructive unto all and everyone and everything, directly and indirectly.
It is about the minds are free from the influence of the veil of ignorance.
Where the minds have the clarity of thinking and correct understanding.
Where the minds are mentally and emotionally independent or matured.
Where the minds are contented and at peace.
Where the minds are kind and generous helping and looking after one another, indiscriminately and unconditionally, towards achieving physical, mental, and emotional independence.
Where the minds are not being influenced/manipulated/threatened/tempted/bullied/exploited or be determined and disturbed by the existence of all kinds of worldly egoistic impure ideas, beliefs, values, and practices created by the minds that were/are functioning under the influence of the veil of ignorance.
Where the minds are free from the idea of 'I' and egoism, and all kinds of impurities and restlessness, devoid of selfishness, self-righteousness, possessiveness, desires of craving and aversion, dissatisfaction, greed, insecurity, fear, disappointment, anger, hatred, discrimination, prejudice, the sense of separateness and emptiness/loneliness, the sense of pride and shame, the sense of superiority and inferiority, the sense of goodness and badness, the sense of self-esteem and self-worth, the sense of meaningfulness and meaninglessness, the sense of deserving and non-deserving, the sense of accomplishment and non-accomplishment, the sense of success and failure, and etc.
Where the minds are free from corruption and corrupted ideas, beliefs, values, and practices.
Where the minds are non-violent.
Where the minds don't hurt themselves, or others, or the surrounding environment, under any circumstances, conditions, and situations.
Where the minds know how to navigate their life existence in the world of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, under the presence of wisdom or absolute knowledge and correct understanding, and kindness, with minimum damages being generated unto all and everyone and everything as much as possible.
Where the minds are devoid of grasping, association, longing, craving, aversion, attachment, identification, judgment, comparison, or expectation.
Where the minds are endowed with patience, forbearance, adjustment, adaptation, accommodation, acceptance, determination, perseverance, kindness, generosity, non-possessiveness, non-hoarding, non-envying, non-discrimination, non-prejudice, or non-violence.
Where the minds are opened, devoid of blind-believing, blind-following, blind-agreeing/disagreeing, blind-practicing, blind-propagating, blind-glorifying, or worshiping, not to say, blind-worshiping, towards anything or anyone.
Where the minds are devoid of untruthfulness, lies, hypocrisy, justification, story making and telling, pretentiousness, offensiveness and defensiveness, sabotaging, plotting, scheming, boasting, slandering, and so on.
Where the minds are being in the present, and respecting the Truth of Selflessness, Impermanence, Limitation, Conditional, and Non-self.
Where there is no reason for all kinds of corruptions, lies, untruthfulness, hypocrisy, story making and telling, justification, corruption, exploitation, discrimination, abuse, bribery, unjust, prejudice, unrest, anger, hatred, fear, insecurity, pride and shame, superiority and inferiority, patriotism, politicking, sabotage, invasion, intrusion, occupation, possessiveness, selfishness, greed, jealousy, cruelty, violence, or hurtful action/reaction/behavior, to be existing, under the presence of clarity of thinking and correct understanding in the minds of the human beings.
