Selfless conscious actions and the nature's law of cause and effect

There are many minds that think and believe and identify themselves as yoga and/or buddhism followers/disciples/practitioners/enthusiasts would use the term of 'cause and effect' that they have been referring as 'karma' (因果報應/因果循環) to warn/threaten/intimidate/bully/manipulate/influence/exploit/lure/oppress/control the others to behave in certain way and not in certain way, which is not what yoga and/or buddhism teachings and practice is about.

Inquire towards the truth of everything.

Cause and effect is like object and the shadow.

Effect is the shadow of cause.

Each object has its own shadow.

Each cause has its own effect.

Without such cause, there is no such effect.

Without such object, there is no such shadow.

But more importantly,

Without light, there is no shadow of any object.

Cause (object) is fixed. The cause doesn't change into something else. It is what it is.

Shadow (effect) is not fixed, having countless possibility of manifestations, depending on the condition and position of light and/or the object, manifesting under different shapes and sizes.

The supportive elements/conditions that are influencing the effects being in certain way or not in certain way, is like the light that influence the shadow being what it is.

Without proper supportive elements/conditions, the cause doesn't give rise to effect. It is like a seed that doesn't grow into a plant, or a plant that doesn't give flowers and/or fruits under the absence of proper supportive elements/conditions.

Just like all kinds of names and forms, the nature's law of cause and effect is neither good nor bad, neither positive nor negative, neither constructive nor destructive, neither meaningful nor meaningless, and that neither gives rise to enjoyment nor suffering.

The nature's law of cause and effect is just what it is. It is part of the intentionless indiscriminate power of nature that governs/influences/directs the selfless impermanent limited and conditional finite momentary existence, changes of regeneration/decay/disintegration, and ceased existence of all and everything.

Just like all kinds of names and forms, the nature's law of cause and effect is also limited and conditional.

All kinds of actions/activities give rise to respective causes that will turn into effects (consequences of actions/activities).

And hence, actions/activities are more powerful/dominant than the nature's law of cause and effect.

By understanding this, one will know that it is the boundless selfless conscious/semi-conscious/non-conscious actions/activities (the selfless power of creation) that are determining the different types of causes and effects ceaselessly, either wittingly or unwittingly, intentionally or unintentionally, constructively or destructively.

No doubt that causes are what they are, but the selfless impermanent limited and conditional effects can be influenced/determined/dominated by the ceaseless actions/activities, particularly the selfless conscious actions/activities that are being generated under the presence of conscious awareness, and more importantly, under the presence or absence of correct understanding and/or incorrect understanding.

A non-living object doesn't have the organs of perception/cognition or the organs of action. Such as a rock.

The rock under different shapes and sizes and consistencies has no intention of being constructive or destructive, or it has no power of construction or destruction. It is just being what it is. It is also subject to selfless impermanent changes under the presence or absence of certain limited conditions, internally and externally.

It can be transformed or mobilized involuntarily either by nature (such as the impact of sunlight, heat, humidity, volcanic activity, wind, water, rain, lightning strike, current, river, ocean, gravity, and movements of the earth), or by the living organisms that come with the organs of perception/cognition and the organs of action for something constructive or destructive, regardless of whether consciously or unconsciously, voluntarily or involuntarily, deliberately or autonomously, wittingly or unwittingly, intentionally or unintentionally.

It can be used to build shelter, or path, or bridge, or ornament, or tool that cut something, or tool that break/crack open something, or for any constructive purposes.

It can also be used as a weapon to cause damages or injuries unto the physical structures of anyone or anything, or for any destructive purposes.

The different effects, or changes, or transformations, as well as the constructive or destructive possibility/purpose/utilization of the rock are influenced by both internal and external actions/activities involuntarily.

For example, there is a sharp object being there on the path. It doesn't have any intention to be something constructive or destructive for being what it is, where it is, and how it is.

Some conscious living organisms under the presence of conscious awareness/perception/cognition might be aware of it or see it, while some living organisms might not be aware of it or don't see it.

The conscious living organisms that are aware of it, might or might not avoid stepping/leaning on it, might or might not reflect upon the many possible effects of a sharp object being on the path, might or might not pick up or move the sharp object out of the path, and might or might not utilize/transform the sharp object for any purposes, under the presence or absence of different experiences, knowledge, understanding, and intentions.

Under the presence of conscious awareness being aware of the presence of a sharp object being on the path, and under the presence of reflection under the presence of certain experiences, knowledge, and correct understanding, some living organisms would move the sharp object away from the path to avoid any unnecessary damages or injuries unto oneself and/or others, or the tyres of some vehicles, and even many other possible side-effects that might arise from that.

Some living organisms might not have such similar reflection and action taking of avoiding unnecessary evitable damages or injuries unto oneself or others or anything, but they might have the similar desire, intention, and understanding of utilizing/transforming the sharp object for different purposes, and vice versa.

The conscious and unconscious power of creation/action/activity that exist in all and everything, regardless of living organisms that come with the conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious perception/cognition/the presence and absence of freewill and the organs of action/activity/mobility (inputs - thought processing - outputs/responds, consciously/voluntarily or unconsciously/involuntarily), or non-living objects that don't have conscious perception/cognition/freewill and with or without components for action/activity/mobility (non-living objects such as the creations/inventions of clock/all kinds of machine/vehicle/computer/TV/AI programming/robot/toy, and etc, have no conscious perception/cognition/freewill, but there are certain components/functions that enable certain involuntary mechanical action/activity/mobility), is influencing the effects or impermanent changes of the existing causes, while the conscious power of creation/action/activity can be more dominant than the unconscious power of creation/action/activity, and vice versa.

And more importantly, the presence and absence of the clarity, calmness, and efficiency (wisdom/absolute knowledge and precise functionality) or the murkiness, restlessness, and inefficiency (ignorance/corrupted knowledge and faulty functionality) of the selfless functions of the conscious perception/cognition/intellectual reasoning/understanding/desire/behavior/action/activity in the conscious living organisms that are functioning under the presence of conscious awareness, under the state of consciousness/semi-consciousness, has the influencing power that can be influencing/determining what type of conscious creations/actions/activities, that is also conditioning/influencing/determining whether the conscious or unconscious creations/actions/activities is being more dominant, that is influencing the conscious/semi-conscious and unconscious changes/effects of the existing causes in certain way or not in certain way, up to a certain extend, where there is certain inevitable limitation in all and everything.

Such as all and everything has limited duration of existence and function that need constant maintenance under the availability of the selfless supportive energy and different elements/conditions, while all and everything are subject to decay and disintegration.

By understanding this, one will know that under the presence of conscious and semi-conscious awareness during the state of consciousness and semi-consciousness, there is conscious/semi-conscious freewill to influence/determine the states of mind throughout the different states of consciousness, that also influences/conditions/determines the conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious creations/actions/activities (The process of conscious mind evolution and conquest - what yoga and buddhism teachings, observations, and practices is all about), although it takes ceaseless perseverance and determination or continuous effort, not just to attain but also to maintain the clarity and efficiency of the mind under the different states of consciousness, that is selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, even after the direct glimpse or realization towards the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self in all kinds of names and forms, until Silence/Samadhi, or the complete annihilation of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional modification of the mind takes place, but more importantly as well as upmost liberating, is that, all THAT (Ignorance/Restlessness/The conscious and unconscious power of creation/action/activity and The annihilation of ignorance/restlessness, or Silence/Samadhi - The absorption/non-activation of MAYA, the power of creation/action/activity) are non-self.

It is absolutely possible to be free from ignorance and the by-products of ignorance.

It is absolutely possible to change and/or conquer the conditional restless egoistic impure thinking and behavior pattern of oneself throughout the different states of consciousness, that hurts oneself and others and the surrounding environment, either wittingly or unwittingly, intentionally or unintentionally, even if all and everything are selfless and impermanent, that only exist and function momentarily for a limited duration.

The mind just need to initiate the conscious evolution process under the presence of conscious awareness, out of its own conscious perception/cognition towards the restlessness/impurities/doubts/suffering and fleeting impermanent changes in itself and of everything that it perceives, under its own conscious freewill, desire, yearning, effort, perseverance, and determination to be free from all that, even if it is just the rise of a fleeting conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious thought, or idea, or desire (planting a seed wittingly/consciously or unwittingly/unconsciously, that requires ceaseless effort/action for nurturing) to be free, to be happy, to be peaceful, to know and understand, to be suffering free, to stop hurting oneself and others, or to be liberated from ignorance, under the presence of any kind of impurities, unrest, fear, insecurity, doubt, dissatisfaction, disappointment, hurt, pain, sorrow, violence, suffering, or the notion/idea of "I am not free".

The cause (any seed), whether being nurtured to becoming a matured plant that bears flowers and fruits, or not, is also subject to selfless impermanent changes of growth/transformation or decay and disintegration. Just as a seed that isn't being nurtured into becoming a plant, is rotting/decaying at its own pace, and will eventually disintegrated/decomposed, not to say, the seed isn't a seed anymore, upon the initial moment of being nurtured that turns into a shoot, that might or might not eventually becoming a matured plant, that might or might not give rise to flowers, that might or might not turn into fruits, that might or might not be consumed by something or someone.

Sankalpa - The initiation/planting of the seed of wisdom/liberation/peace consciously and unconsciously, has been widely misused by the yoga practitioners/teachers/enthusiasts in the yoga practice or in the beginning and/or the end of the yoga class, as 'the mystical super mind power' to make all kinds of wishes/desires/dreams come true, which not only doesn't thin-out and eliminate the veil of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism of attachment and identification, desire of craving and aversion, longing, clinging, expectation, duality, passion, greed, and restlessness, but instead, it is augmenting and empowering all that.

The yoga teachers tell the yoga students in the yoga class to think about something or anything that they want to do and achieve or have, and that by thinking of that particular desire/goal (those many different desires/goals) consciously under intense focus, and all their desires/wishes/goals/dreams will come true or be materialized. It doesn't. It is the ceaseless physical effort/action/activity under the presence of specific or respective knowledge and understanding, under the presence of possibility and opportunity, and under the availability of the selfless supportive energy and elements/conditions, on top of immovable perseverance and determination, that determines whether one will be successful doing and achieving something that oneself wanted to do and achieve, up to certain extend under certain limitation.

If it is merely a thought/desire arising in the mind, but if there is no prompted follow-up continuous physical effort/activity to materialize the thought/desire, or it doesn't turn into physical action/expression/speech, then it is just a selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary thought that arising and passing away (a seed that doesn't turn into a plant), regardless of whether the thought is something pure or impure, positive or negative, good or bad, constructive or destructive, wholesome or unwholesome, and etc.

While most of the minds are still functioning under the influence of the veil of ignorance, what the minds (being conditioned and influenced to) think and believe and understand, or reason and evaluate and discriminate, or judge and recognize towards what is good or gad, what is right or wrong, what is positive or negative, or what is constructive or destructive, or what is wholesome or unwholesome, and etc, are not necessarily the truth of what things are.

And hence, the highly importance of the practical and efficient initial mental observation/practice of non-grasping, non-attachment, non-identification, non-craving, non-aversion, non-judgment, and non-expectation towards the rise of any kind of thoughts/desires, to be observing or aware of the ceaseless thoughts/desires arising and passing away, without generating any physical effort/activity/action being prompted by the selfless impermanent limited and conditional fleeting thoughts/desires, the presence of countless seeds don't turn into any plant (the arising and passing away of countless causes doesn't lead to effect).

Upon the annihilation of the veil of ignorance, or upon the presence of clarity, absolute knowledge, and correct understanding, the mind can choose whether to perform or not performing certain action/activity that are beneficial for oneself and others and the surrounding environment, selflessly, indiscriminately and unconditionally.

Without thinking about or focusing towards achieving anything specifically, but just by performing certain actions/activities under the presence of specific knowledge and understanding, possibility and opportunity, perseverance and determination, and the availability of the selfless support of energy and elements/conditions, and one might achieve good health, good fortune, unlimited wealth, happiness, everything desirable and nothing undesirable, youthfulness, and longevity, and even so, it still doesn't change the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, non-self, and the inevitable decay and disintegration, or mortality in all and everything.

Just by ceaselessly 'thinking' about or 'focusing' towards 'being at the mountain top', it doesn't transport oneself physically and practically to be on the mountain top, it is the continuous physical effort of physical movements/actions/activities internally and externally that bring oneself to be at the mountain top physically and practically, eventually.

The Sankalpa that is stated in the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism, is merely about the seed of dhamma that might or might not lead to the liberation from all that depending on the presence and absence of effort/action taking, where it is not even "I want to be free, be happy, be peaceful, be liberated," under the presence of the idea of 'I' and egoism, but it is, "May all be free, be happy, be peaceful, be liberated," indiscriminately and unconditionally, dropping of the idea of 'I' and egoism, devoid of the sense of separateness/duality of 'I' and 'not I' or 'others', and without egoism of grasping, attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation, but only through ceaseless effort, action, activity, observation, or practice, under intense perseverance and determination, one will eventually attain direct self realization towards the truth of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional finite momentary existence and function of all and everything, that are non-self, and be free, be happy, be peaceful unconditionally.

Such as, without telling/asking/guiding/instructing the yoga students to deliberately setting any kind of intention before/during/after the yoga class/yoga practice, but just by indiscriminately disseminating the dhamma, or the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism as it is, in the yoga class, regardless of whether the yoga students are paying attention (receiving inputs consciously) or don't pay attention (receiving inputs unconsciously) onto the dhamma dissemination, whether they understand or don't understand, agree or disagree, like or dislike, desire or don't desire, and practice or don't practice the dhamma/the teachings as it is, but that is already what Sankalpa is about. An intentionless seed of wisdom is being randomly planted into the minds of the yoga students either consciously or unconsciously (the gift of dhamma). But then it is up to the effort of the yoga students whether to embark onto the journey of self-inquiry and attain self realization, or not, a.k.a. whether to continuously nurture the seed until it becomes a matured plant that bears flowers and fruits, or not.

That is also why the highly importance of the observation of renunciation, solitude, and seclusion to not just mentally but also physically move away from all kinds of conditional highly influential worldly egoistic conscious and unconscious inputs/influences/ideas/affairs/beliefs/values/practices/rituals/behaviors/activities/interactions/communications/ties and connections, that is absolutely practical and efficient for the minds that genuinely and eagerly want to attain direct self realization towards knowing Thyself, or knowing the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self in all and everything.

Conscious and/or unconscious thought/intention/desire (Sankalpa) is nothing or powerless, if without continuous physical effort/action/activity (which includes mental activity, that is also part of the physical activity. Without the physical structure and activity, there is no mental activity) under the presence of respective knowledge and understanding, possibility and opportunity, perseverance and determination, and the selfless support of the supportive energy and elements/conditions.

There is nothing super extraordinary, or mystical, or transcendental, or miraculous in the teachings, observations, practices, and realization of yoga and/or buddhism. It is merely the truth of everything, as it is. However, under the influence of the veil of ignorance, it is common and natural that there are many existing 'teachings, observations, practices, transcriptions, translations, and understanding' of yoga and/or buddhism have been contaminated by the many different worldly egoistic ideas, beliefs, values, and practices. And hence, the highly importance of "Inquiring the truth of everything to attain direct self realization," as stated in both the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism.

One doesn't necessarily need to learn, read, hear, study, know, or memorize about many teachings of yoga and/or buddhism, but only need to know and inquire about, "Silencing and withdrawing the restless outgoing mind and performing self-inquiry to be inquiring towards the truth of everything to attain direct self realization." One needs to inquire why is that highly important, what is and how to silence and withdraw the restless outgoing mind, what is/why and how to perform self-inquiry to be inquiring towards the truth of everything to attain direct self realization?

The mind that knows this, is free from all kinds of worldly egoistic superstitious mystical spiritual/religious/cultural beliefs, values, and practices, as well as the unnecessary fear and many obstacles or inconveniences deriving from all that. Such mind cannot be threatened/intimidated/bullied/manipulated/influenced/lured/exploited/disturbed/offended/hurt by anyone and anything.

Yoga and/or buddhism is the science of the mind.

Inquire the truth of everything.

Is yoga a spiritual practice?

Yoga, similar to the teachings and practice of buddhism, is universal.

Spirituality and/or religion, is non-universal.

Even so, like the selfless existence and function of all and everything, spirituality or religion is neither good nor bad.

Just as any kind of cultural belief, values, and practice, spirituality and religion served its own particular purpose or influence in the daily life affairs, interactions, and behaviors of many minds, especially for the minds that are still functioning under the presence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, that are being determined by all kinds of duality (good and bad/right and wrong/positive and negative/superiority and inferiority/gain and loss/success and failure/pride and shame, and so on), that perceive all kinds of doubts, fear, insecurity, disturbance, dissatisfaction, disappointment, hurts, sorrow, and undesirable painful physical and mental or emotional suffering.

It depends on the state of the different minds, where the existence and function of spirituality or religion can be understood and used by the minds constructively or destructively, under the different states of mind having different understanding, behaviors, intentions, or desires.

The existence and function of the different spiritual or religious beliefs and practices doesn't serve any purposes or influences (constructive or destructive) for the mind that knows Thyself, upon the presence of mental and emotional independence, upon the absence of the veil of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, restlessness, and the consequences of all that - all kinds of disturbance and painful suffering.

Yoga and buddhism, is all about the mind and mind conquest, or conscious mind evolution (changing the conditional mind thinking behavior pattern under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I'/the ego, egoism, impurities, and restlessness), or the restless impure egoistic modification of the mind (the veil of ignorance) and the conquest of the restless impure egoistic modification of the mind, or Silence, or the annihilation of the veil of ignorance.

It is nothing to do with any form of spirituality or religion, not to say, it doesn't belong to any particular name and form.

If yoga 'belongs' to any particular name and form, of any particular spirituality, or religion, or culture, or community, or area, or country, or leadership, or organization, then that 'yoga' is something non-universal, it is not yoga as it is.

Just as the children were born or coming from their parents, but they don't belong to their parents.

None and nothing belongs to themselves, not to say, belongs to anyone or anything. (Selflessness and Non-self)

Just as there are many different types of spiritual and religious or cultural beliefs and practices in the world, that belongs to and only valid for certain minds or specific community, and hence, they are non-universal.

Even so, all kinds of spiritual and religious or cultural beliefs and practices (different ways of life/living/values/conduct/vision) are neither something good nor bad, and they have their own particular purpose/values that work for certain minds, particularly to have a sense of direction in life, to have a refuge in the mind to take some rest or find comfort within the restless impure egoistic modification of the mind, as well as to justify the unknown, or many things that the minds don't know or don't understand, and to justify as well as to deal with many things that the minds don't like and don't desire, that are uncomfortable or painful physically and/or mentally/emotionally.

Why yoga and buddhism is universal, while spirituality and religion is non-universal?

Regardless of having particular spiritual or religious belief and practice, or not, and regardless of the different qualities of names and forms that all and everyone have, or possess, or identifying with, all minds can practice yoga and/or buddhism to be free from ignorance that exists naturally along with the selfless existence and function of the restless modification of the mind under the presence of conscious awareness, while not all minds (need to) have particular spiritual or religious belief and practice to be existing and functioning as they are.

Just as all living organisms and non-living objects depend on the availability of energy and different elements for all and everything to be existing and functioning as what they are. That is universal.

All living organisms need to consume energy/food to be existing and functioning as what they are, and that is universal, but the type of food/energy consumption can be different for the different living organisms. That is non-universal.

The truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, exists and valid in all and everything. All and everything (living organisms and non-living objects) are undergoing the forming, decaying, and disintegrating process at their own particular pace and cause. That is universal.

The many different types of subjective ideas, knowledge, beliefs, values, practices, behaviors, visions, understanding and non-understanding, desires and don't desires, likes and dislikes, or agreements and disagreements, and etc, only exist and valid for specific minds, and not all minds. That is non-universal.

Yoga and Hinduism have certain connectivity and similarity, but they are completely two different things.

Yoga is universal. While Hinduism, as well as all kinds of different spirituality and religion beliefs and practices, is non-universal.

What is universal, it is valid for all and everything. What isn't valid for all and everything, but only valid for specific individual, or community, or something, is non-universal.

Decay and death or mortality, is universal.

What is good and bad, right and wrong, and the perception/judgment/projection towards all kinds of qualities and all kinds of duality, that are being perceived/judged/projected differently by the different minds, is non-universal.

The nature's law of cause and effect, is universal.

The many different rules and regulations created by specific minds under specific understanding, intention, desire, and vision within a family, a community, an area, a leadership, or an organization, locally and/or globally, is non-universal.

The presence and absence of ignorance and the consequences of ignorance in the minds, is universal.

The conditional momentary peace and happiness, or the sense of happiness and unhappiness, positiveness and negativeness, righteousness and wrongfulness, goodness and badness, meaningfulness and meaninglessness, deserving and non-deserving, success and failure, strength and weakness, superiority and inferiority, pride and shame, and etc, of all kinds of duality, is non-universal.

Not all minds that identifying themselves as 'Buddhists' are buddhism practitioners who practice buddhism as it is.

Similarly, not all Hinduism followers/practitioners are Hinduism practitioners who practice Hinduism as it is, not to say, not all Hindus are yoga practitioners, even if they might think and believe and identify themselves as yoga enthusiasts and practitioners, while performing some kind of yoga practices regularly or irregularly.

Yoga practitioners are not necessarily Hindus, or the followers/believers of any particular religion or spirituality. Although there are many yoga practitioners begin their yoga practice coming from their own particular religious, or spiritual, or cultural background.

Similarly, not all minds that think and believe and identify themselves as yoga enthusiasts and practitioners, that are observing the teachings of yoga and/or performing some kinds of yoga practices regularly or irregularly, are practicing yoga as it is.

And there is neither right nor wrong with all that.

All minds take their own cause and pace to evolve (consciously and unconsciously) as they are.

Regardless of what type of religious or non-religious background, and what type of spiritual or non-spiritual background that one has or came from, yoga is neither religious nor spiritual.

Before the direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness and non-self, yoga can appear to be something spiritual or non-spiritual for the different minds under different states of mind.

When the minds are still functioning under the influence of the veil of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, that are still mentally and emotionally dependent on something 'greater'/'more perfect'/'more wise'/'more powerful'/'more independent' than the minds themselves, then yoga can appear to be whatever the minds would desire it to be.

It can appear to be something religious for the minds that are religious and that have particular religion belief and practice, while it can appear to be something non-religious to the minds that are non-religious and that don't have any particular religion belief and practice.

Similarly, it can appear to be something spiritual for the minds that believe in spirituality, or it can appear to be something non-spiritual for the minds that disbelieve in spirituality.

Yoga and/or buddhism, if being practiced as it is, without being contaminated or possessed by any cultural, spiritual, or religious elements, is universal.

Regardless of religious or non-religious, believing or disbelieving in spirituality, and what type of religion or spirituality that the different minds believe in and practice, or not, all and everyone have the universal selfless impermanent limited and conditional function of the conscious restless impure egoistic modification of the mind, or the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty, and regardless of the different types of characteristics, personalities, genetic inheritance, family background, cultures, beliefs, values, practices, desires, or behaviors, all and everyone and everything are selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.

And the restless impure egoistic modification of all minds can be purified, or weakened, or thinned-out, or silenced, or subjugated, or conquered, or annihilated by the mind itself, out of the precious conscious awareness/cognition/understanding/freewill/initiation/effort/desire/yearning towards liberation from the selfless impermanent limited and conditional restless impure egoistic states of mind, or modification, or function, or thought current, that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to the existence and function of the mind itself.

Religion and spirituality is something non-universal, and no doubt that it provides momentary refuge, comfort, hope, escape, or relief towards the conscious awareness/perception/experience towards all kinds of undesirable/unpleasant physical and mental or emotional restlessness and painful suffering, but it doesn't eliminate the root cause of suffering - The veil of ignorance. It doesn't eliminate the veil of ignorance, because the existence and function of all kinds of religion and spirituality is arising from and fed by as well as empowering the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, and expectation, that empowers mental and emotional dependence.

If all minds are mentally and emotionally independent, all kinds of spirituality and religion beliefs and practices will loose its functionality, and ceased existing.

Yoga and/or buddhism is universal, and it leads towards mental and emotional independence, or the absolute liberation from the root cause of suffering via the annihilation of the veil of ignorance, a.k.a. the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

Not all minds have religious or spiritual belief and practice, and not all minds that have particular religious and/or spiritual belief and practice are having the one same universal religious and/or spiritual belief and practice. With, or without any particular religious or spiritual belief and practice, the minds are still what they are, life existence is still what it is, the ignorance and the consequences of ignorance is still what it is, and the truth of things is still what it is.

Both the teachings and practices of yoga and buddhism is all about the mind, or the selfless impermanent limited and conditional modification of the mind, or the restless impure egoistic thought current, that is universal, regardless of what type of genetic inheritance and cultural background that the different minds have or identifying with, and whether the minds are having any particular religious and/or spiritual belief and practice, or not.

Yoga, as well as buddhism, is the teachings and practices that enable the selfless mind or the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty of the selfless physical body to transcend the restless impure egoistic modification of the mind, under the presence of conscious awareness, conscious desire, conscious freewill, conscious initiation, conscious yearning, conscious effort, and conscious evolution, transcending all kinds of egoistic ideas and beliefs, values and practices, including all kinds of existing religious and spiritual ideas and beliefs, that are all merely part of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional manifestation/creation in the restless impure egoistic modification of the minds, that were/have been/are functioning under the influence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness a.k.a. the veil of ignorance, and the consequences of all that.

Upon the direct self realization towards the dhamma, or the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism, that is both centered in the truth or the essence of selflessness and impermanence in all and everything of all kinds of selfless impermanent limited and conditional manifestation of countless diverse names and forms arising and passing away under different qualities/functionalities/duties/purposes/causes and effects, the mind will know that both the teachings and practices of yoga and/or buddhism (even if there are some differences between them), is neither something religious nor spiritual.

And then, some minds might start to think and understand that, since if it is not something spiritual, then it must be merely a form of physical and mental exercise or activity for sustaining and empowering physical and mental health and fitness condition. But, the physical and mental health and fitness condition or the presence of physical and mental abilities and limitations doesn't determine the presence and absence of ignorance, or determine the mind is practicing yoga, or not, and whether the mind will realize yoga/the dhamma/the truth of things/unconditional peace, or not.

Just as the optimal physical and mental health and fitness condition, long life span, easy life condition, the degrees of intelligence, education, creativity, and the accumulation of knowledge/experiences/skills/relationships/achievements/wealth/titles/positions/authority/power/possessions/enjoyments, doesn't relate to or determine the presence and absence of ignorance, or the states of mind, or the desires and behaviors, or the actions and reactions.

All kinds of religious and spiritual ideas and beliefs/values and practices/rituals are being created and practiced by the restless impure egoistic minds to counter and justify the suffering/the imperfections/the selfless impermanent changes/the limitations and conditions/the restrictions/the unknown/the uncertainty/the fragility/the unpleasantness/the undesirableness/the disagreeableness/the unrest/the painful sorrow/the conflicts/the fear/the disappointments/the sense of loneliness or emptiness/the constructive and destructive power of nature, and etc, that the minds don't desire, to create and have a momentary space/refuge/faith/trust/hope/direction/focus within the disturbed confused restless suffering modification of the mind, where they can hang onto or be in within the mind, that gives them certain degrees of momentary rest, comfort, escape, and relief from the ceaseless disturbance, confusions, restlessness, and suffering, as well as to have certain power of leadership/authority/control/influence/manipulation/bullying/dominance towards the others, or the family members, or the mass community, to live life and behave in certain way and not in certain way. - Ignorance and the by-products/side-effects/consequences/creations of ignorance

The mind that knows Thyself, that is mentally and emotionally independent, upon direct realization towards the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self, is free from all that.

Renunciation and liberation, is all about renouncing all that, and be liberated from all that.

Siddhartha Gautama Buddha and Swami Sivananda that existed in different era, were both coming from Hinduism background and prestigious background, and both had renounced all that and immersed into persevered and determined sadhana/contemplation/meditation in silence, seclusion, and solitude for a prolonged duration, and eventually attained direct self realization towards the timeless dhamma, or the universal truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self upon the annihilation of the veil of ignorance, or upon the silence of the restless impure egoistic modification of the mind. And they disseminated the same universal timeless realization/dhamma/truth of things under the different names of 'Buddhism' and 'Yoga Vedanta'.

The universal timeless dhamma/truth of things that is directly realized and disseminated by any minds under any different names ('Buddhism', or 'Yoga Vedanta', or some other names, but all are the same universal timeless dhamma), doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

The universal timeless dhamma/truth of things doesn't change into something else regardless of the different names, the different era/timing, the different minds, the different backgrounds, the different understanding and non-understanding, the realization or non-realization, or the different causes and effects.

There is neither good nor bad in all the mind creation of the many different religion and spiritual ideas/beliefs/values/practices/ways of conduct/ways of living for the restless confused suffering minds that need to have a refuge in the mind to be resting upon from time to time, or to have some hope amidst all kinds of hardships and undesirable/unpleasant experiences, not until the restless impure egoistic minds started to misuse the existing specific religious or spiritual ideas and beliefs, values and practices, or ways of conduct and living, to become a political influence/manipulation/threat/power/tool/weapon to achieve their own specific greedy ambitious agendas/desires/aspirations/visions in the family, or the relationship, or the community, or the world, generating all kinds of unnecessary hurtful activities unto oneself and others and the surrounding environment.

All kinds of yoga and meditation practice are merely some tools

The unconscious evolution of the body and mind activated autonomously under the selfless survival instinct (selfless impermanent changes governed by cause and effect to adapt and accommodate the current internal and external condition and situation that is impermanent) is always happening as it is, even without any conscious awareness or conscious action taking from the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting conscious mind to be aware of or activate all those changes in certain way or not in certain way.

However, the conscious evolution of the body and mind is accessible to all minds out of their own limited and conditional conscious freewill under the presence of conscious awareness, to be consciously aware of the current impermanent condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment, to be making conscious decisions under the presence of certain knowledge and understanding, and performing conscious actions to make conscious adjustment and adaptation in accordance to the current condition and situation.

The ceaseless unconscious evolution process that is all time activated autonomously under the intentionless unconscious survival instinct, is merely about maintaining maximal survival of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the mortal physical structure of the living organisms, regardless of the presence or absence of conscious awareness under correct or incorrect understanding towards anything or everything in the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty of the physical structure.

Regardless of whether the conscious mind is aware or unaware of, likes or dislikes, agrees or disagrees with, desires or doesn't desire towards the ceaseless unconscious evolution process of the existence and function of the many different selfless cells/components/organs/systems/mechanisms of the body and mind, the unconscious evolution process (the selfless impermanent unconscious ceaseless changes of the body and mind) is still what it is.

The conscious evolution process that is activated via the conscious engagement in conscious physical and mental activity or conscious decision making and action taking, under the presence of conscious desire/yearning/intention/purpose for learning, experiencing, knowing, improving, doubting, and attaining correct understanding (absolute knowledge) towards something or everything - Self inquiry to know Thyself (that is nothing to do with maintaining the maximum survival of the body and mind), to be free from the presence of ignorance (the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness - the egoistic impure restless disturbed dissatisfied impermanent state of mind/peacelessness/the absence of absolute peace/the evitable mental and emotional suffering) and to transcend the inevitable physical suffering that the mind perceives/experiences due to the inevitable truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self of the momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the body and mind that doesn't even belong to the body and mind itself, and in all kinds of names and forms that the mind perceives through the senses and sense organs, can be non-activated, or activated, or deactivated under the presence or absence and the impermanent changes of the conscious desire/yearning/intention/purpose that is impermanent, limited, and conditional, that will change (intensity and direction), that will increase or decrease, that will be present or absent.

The conscious evolution activated under conscious awareness/freewill/desire/intention/choices/actions/activities is neither good nor bad. It can be constructive or destructive, depending on the current state of mind.

The non-activated conscious evolution process can be activated by the conscious thinking and acting mind under the presence of conscious desire/yearning towards conscious changes heading towards certain direction (constructive - perform conscious physical and/or mental actions/activities that are constructive/beneficial to be improving the condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment, or destructive - perform conscious physical and/or mental actions/activities that are harmful and destructive that would be deteriorating the condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment), as well as the activated conscious evolution process (regardless of constructive or destructive) can be changing direction, or can be completely deactivated (return to non-activation, or the absence of the conscious freewill voluntary desire/yearning/action/activity to influence the conscious changes towards any direction, but merely the presence of the ceaseless unconscious evolution process of the body and mind that is always happening until the body and mind ceased functioning and existing.

All kinds of yoga and/or buddhism and meditation practice, or method, or discipline, or observation, are merely some tools that can be utilized by the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind under the presence of conscious awareness/freewill/desire/yearning to attain the correct understanding/the absolute knowledge/the truth of things as it is/the peace/the liberation from doubt and painful suffering, or to know Thyself.

The yoga and meditation practice is not (never) a form of obligated commitment, or duty, or responsibility which certain minds perceived, understood, propagated, and took up the practice in such way.

No doubt that the universal activation of conscious mind evolution to annihilate ignorance and the by-products of ignorance is the highest duty of mankind, but, the many different types of practices or tools that can be used for helping the annihilation of the egoistic impure restless modification of the mind (the veil of ignorance*), are not an obligation, or commitment, or duty, or responsibility.

*The veil of ignorance (The hindrance/murkiness that hinders the mind under the presence of conscious awareness to perceive/see/know/understand things as it is), is not something that exists independently within the modification of the mind. The entire restless egoistic impure modification of the mind or the thought process/activity/current, is indeed the veil of ignorance. It is not about eliminate or remove the veil of ignorance from the modification of the mind. Upon the thought/thinking process arise/manifest in a continuous stream of countless thought/thinking, the veil of ignorance appears as it is.

The annihilation of the veil of ignorance, is indeed the annihilation of the restless modification of the mind that is what it is, existing under the ceaseless arising and passing away of the countless idea of 'I' (self acknowledgement/awareness), egoism, and impurities (the restless egoistic impure thought activities, regardless of the positive/happy/calmed/elevated or negative/unhappy/disturbed/depressed state of mind). The annihilation of the idea of 'I', egoism, and impurities is indeed the annihilation of the restless modification of the mind, or the silence/subside of the restless egoistic impure thought process/activity/current.

That is why the degrees of intelligence (intellectual thinking, learning, reasoning, and understanding under the influence of worldly egoistic ideas/beliefs/values/practices) and the total amount of accumulated knowledge/information, understanding, and experience (what the mind knows and doesn't know) or the amount and type of skills and talents (what the body and mind can or cannot do and achieve), is irrelevant to the presence and absence as well as the degrees/thickness of the veil of ignorance (the ceaseless arising and passing away of thought/idea after thought/idea manifesting under different qualities/names and forms).

The good news is that all are selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional, including the veil of ignorance or the continuous stream of thought process/current, that can be thinning-out and eliminated/silenced/stilled/absence/subsided via certain physical and mental observation and practice under intense willpower, patience, acceptance, forbearance, determination, and perseverance, as well as the ability of making adjustment and adaptation to accommodate the current internal and external condition and situation (the presence of mental strength/flexibility/stamina).

But all these observation and practice for thinning-out and eliminate the veil of ignorance can only be happening and achieved under the conscious awareness/freewill/desire/effort of the mind itself, under the absence of reluctance and violence (devoid of external interference and violence, not by being forced, or threatened, or disciplined, or regulated/controlled by some others).

If it is not out of the conscious mind's own conscious freewill/desire and effort/action, wittingly and willingly to be quieting the disturbed restless egoistic impure thought process/activity/current, but it is being forced/threatened/intimidated/bullied/disciplined by some others to regulate/modify/tame the restless egoistic impure modification of the mind (being forced to think and don't think/to believe and don't believe/to feel and don't feel/to behave and don't behave in certain way), the thought process/activity/current will naturally be even more disturbed and restless. It doesn't work at all.

Similarly, under the influence of ignorance, some minds think and believe that (and introduce) 'the fearful threat/intimidation of will be judged and will be sent to lower realms or hell to suffer for bad and wrongful behavior' and 'the desirable sweet temptation of will be judged and will be sent to higher realms or heaven to enjoy for good and righteous behavior', in order to 'control' and 'regulate' the many minds to behave in the way that they think and believe is 'good and righteous behavior' through 'sweet temptation', and not to behave in the way that they think and believe is 'bad and wrongful behavior' through 'fearful threat', under their particular idea/belief/values/practice about what is good and bad or right and wrong, it doesn't work, as that doesn't remove the veil of ignorance (quieting the restless modification of the mind) at all, but empowering the ceaseless restless egoistic impure thought process/activity/current under the presence of 'the fear towards receiving painful punishment in lower realms or hell' and 'the longing/expectation/anticipation towards receiving pleasant enjoyment in higher realms or heaven'. - Ignorance feeds ignorance.

Even if the minds might behave accordingly in certain way under the many different ideas/beliefs/values/practices about what is good and bad or right and wrong behavior, which is not the truth of things at all, while that type of idea/belief/values/practice is constantly being used by the many ignorant minds to 'regulate'/'control'/'threaten'/'punish'/'discipline' or hurt others under the name of 'upholding order and righteousness', out of self-righteousness, that gives rise to all kinds of hurtful violent affairs/interactions/activities/situations that are truly unnecessary, in oneself, in the family, in the relationship, in the community, and in anywhere and everywhere. That is exactly what have been happening in the world of supposedly highly cognitive intellectual knowledgeable human beings functioning under the influence of the veil of ignorance, a.k.a. the restless egoistic impure modification of the mind.

The action of building a shelter to be having a sheltered space to take rest and to be sheltering from extreme weather, unnecessary disturbance, danger, harm, or life threatening condition, is essential for all living organisms. The many different tools and materials and methods that can help to build a shelter, are subject to the current conditions and situations, availability and possibility (limited and conditioned by time, space, and causation).

Building a shelter needs the help of certain tools and materials and methods that are available. There are many different types of tools and materials and methods to choose from to build a shelter. One doesn't need to use all kinds of tools or materials or methods to build a shelter, although it is possible. One is not committed to specific tools and materials and methods, and be obliged to use only those specific tools and materials and methods to build a shelter. Some time, a shelter can be built under some specific tools and materials and methods, while some time, the specific tools and materials and methods need to be changed to some other tools or materials or methods under different conditions and situations, subject to availability and possibility.

The entire yoga and meditation practice is about letting go or renouncing all kinds of physical/mental/emotional grasping/clinging/attachment/identification, to thin-out/weaken/eliminate the restless egoistic impure modification of the mind, or more precisely, to eliminate the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness (the formation of the veil of ignorance, that hinders the conscious mind to perceive/see/know/understand the perceived names and forms or the objects of awareness as it is).

It is not about developing and empowering a strong commitment/attachment/identification/clinging/connection/relationship/obligation/duty/responsibility towards the yoga and meditation practice under specific or many different names and forms/types/lineages/paths.

Under the presence of such idea/understanding, the mind is being conditioned to think and believe and acknowledge that, "If I do my practice for minimum two or three hours a day, for six days a week, persistently, and if I do this and don't do that, then I am a genuine yogi/buddhist, and I will feel good and meaningful and accomplished about myself and my life existence. Or else, I am not good enough, or I am weak and bad, and that makes me feel bad and meaningless and failing, because I didn't manage to perform my obligated and committed duty and responsibility (the regular daily yoga and meditation practice), I am unable to achieve the goal/mission of the practice, as well as I am unable to do what I should be doing and I am doing what I shouldn't be doing, as a genuine committed practitioner/student of yoga and/or buddhism. I am not a genuine committed yoga and meditation practitioner."

That is moving away from the essence of yoga and meditation - 'liberation', or 'free as it is', upon the absence of grasping. The yoga and meditation practice itself becomes the name and form (the activity) that binds the mind, or gives rise to the idea/notion of "lack of freedom", or "I am not free", or "I am sacrificing my worldly affairs, activities, ties and connection, relationship, duty, and responsibility for focusing on my committed personal yoga and meditation practice."

However, if the mind persists in such disciplined rigid fixed-routine practice under fixed timing regularly on daily basis for a prolonged period of time (sort of unwittingly/unintentionally renouncing or moving away from the passionate worldly egoistic life activities and connections, as they won't have much extra energy, time, effort, or attention left for attending and engaging in some other activities, as the intense disciplined physical and mental yoga and meditation practice took up most of the energy, time, effort, and attention), the mind might eventually realize the truth of impermanence, limitation, and conditional, that will also lead to the realization of selflessness, after a prolonged period of intense discipline/commitment towards performing the daily practice on specific timing and under specific way or fixed-routine (autonomous familiarity that is needless of thinking/analyzing/understanding while keeping the awareness/focus at one particular point - quieting the restless modification of the mind effectively), while attaining all kinds of physical and mental benefits from the regular practice (the skill, the stamina, the strength, the flexibility, the ability, the health and fitness status, the state of mind), that are all impermanent, that need ceaseless and endless effort for maintenance, that cannot exist or function without the selfless support of energy and elements, which will eventually give rise to the direct realization or understanding towards this body and mind, the regular physical and mental yoga and meditation practice/activity, and the effects of the practice, or the consequences of the conscious and unconscious physical and mental activities, are all selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.

Even if the mind doesn't realize this upon the end of its momentary existence and function, but at least during its entire life span where it spent most of its selfless impermanent momentary existence and function or the energy, time, effort, and attention (the conscious awareness and conscious activities during the state of consciousness/wakefulness) into performing such intense disciplined daily yoga and meditation practice, it didn't have the additional energy, or time, effort, and attention to do anything physically and mentally that would be harming itself and others or the surrounding environment.

That is already serving one of the purpose of performing the yoga and meditation practice - Ahimsa, or Non-violence/Non-harming/Non-interference/Surrendering, by fully focusing the entire energy/life span/effort/attention/existence and function onto performing the yoga and meditation practice, even if it doesn't lead to complete self realization upon the end of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence that doesn't even belong to the body and mind itself.

Meanwhile, the minds that have evolved further, and have certain degrees of correct understanding, even though they have not yet attaining the direct realization towards selflessness (where the mind is still being conditioned by the worldly egoistic cultural/spiritual/religious/ancestral/political/national/commercial idea/belief/values/practice of believing in "the existence of a permanent independent infinite immortal individual self existence/identity/soul/spirit/consciousness" that has been undergoing ceaseless endless rounds of reincarnations under different physical structures transitioning in many different realms determined by the belief of ceaseless boundless accumulated 'good/bad/neutral karma'), but they will know and choose the middle path, by performing the yoga and meditation practice regularly while constantly making adjustment and adaptation in accordance to the current condition, situation, availability, and possibility (devoid of rigidity/fixed timing and fixed routine/the notion of "lack of freedom" or "I am not free").

One can take up the practice, and practice as it is or not as it is, or abandon/forgo/modify the practice in accordance to the current condition and situation, availability and possibility, under any reason or at no reason, but it is not about to gratify the egoistic desires and don't desires (craving and aversion) under the influence of egoistic likes and dislikes/agreements and disagreements.

Upon the mind knows Thyself, or attained direct realization towards the truth of selflessness and impermanence of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself, the physical structure, and all kinds of names and forms that it perceives through the senses and sense organs (sights, sounds, smells, tastes, sensations, feelings, emotions, thoughts, ideas, dreams, memories, imaginations, all kinds of living organisms and non-living objects), where the conscious mind transcends the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself, not to say, all kinds of names and forms that the mind perceives/experiences/comes in contact with through the senses (pleasant/unpleasant, agreeable/disagreeable, desirable/undesirable, enjoyable/non-enjoyable or painful names and forms, conditions, situations, affairs, activities, interactions, or connections), the conscious evolution process will drop-off by itself naturally.

There is needless of the presence or activation of conscious mind evolution (engaging in all kinds of yoga and meditation practice) in order to know Thyself, upon the annihilation of the veil of ignorance a.k.a. the absence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness or restless egoistic impure modification of the mind, upon the direct self realization towards knowing Thyself, of knowing the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self of this mortal body and mind, and all kinds of names and forms.

Even though the selfless impermanent limited and conditional thinking and acting faculty under the presence of conscious awareness may or may not make use of the available existing energy, conscious awareness, life existence and function of the body and mind, knowledge, experience, talents, skills, opportunities, and possibilities (all are momentary, selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional), in NOW, to be performing conscious actions/activities that are benefiting oneself, others, and the surrounding environment, indiscriminately and unconditionally.

The minds that are resting in unconditional peace, devoid of grasping, have no obligation to perform action, or not. They are free as they are.

The presence of the thinking/thought/idea/belief/identification of, "I have to do this because it is my personal and family and community commitment, obligation, duty, and responsibility towards myself, my family, my community, and the surrounding environment or the world," is not yoga, or buddhism, or freedom.

Performing all actions without the sense of commitment, obligation, duty, or responsibility, that are benefiting oneself and all and everyone and everything, indiscriminately and unconditionally, without grasping, is freedom, is inaction in action, is the essence of yoga and buddhism.

There is absence of the thinking/thought/idea/notion/identification of, "lack of freedom", "I am not free", "Sacrificing myself for others", or "Sacrificing something or everything for the sake of performing the yoga and meditation practice", while performing the regular yoga and meditation practice and/or performing actions that benefit oneself and all and everyone.

Attending and engaging in all kinds of worldly commitment, connection, relationship, affair, activity, duty, and responsibility, while without correct understanding, or under the influence of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, doesn't benefit anyone or anything. One keeps generating actions and reactions that are hurting oneself and others, unwittingly and unintentionally, while thinking and believing that oneself is a good and righteous person who loves all and everyone and everything very much.

And hence, the highly importance of renunciation to be renouncing/moving away from unnecessary worldly egoistic connections, affairs, interactions, and activities, to be focusing on one's conscious mind evolution, to be free from ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, then only one knows how to truly love and be kind to oneself and others, indiscriminately and unconditionally, while attending and engaging in all kinds of commitment, family ties and social connection, relationship, friendship, affair, activity, duty, and responsibility.

The minds that know this, might still be performing some kind of physical and mental exercise/practice from time to time, that is adequate enough for maintaining certain degrees of good health and fitness condition and function of the body and mind up to a certain extend (the presence of inevitable limitation), to maintain certain degrees of physical/mental independence, to be looking after oneself, others, and the surrounding environment, if possible, as they like, if they want, while still existing and functioning momentarily, selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, and conditionally, in NOW, without grasping, devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

The minds that don't know this (yet), they would think and believe and desire that all kinds of conscious physical and mental actions/activities/practices/trainings are for challenging, changing, controlling, influencing, defying, and if possible, escaping the selfless impermanent changes of decay and disintegration of the body and mind, to be free from being limited and conditioned by any kind of limitation and condition (to be superhuman with super extraordinary power or ability), if not, to exit/to be liberated from what the mind has been conditioned to think and believe as 'The ceaseless endless wheel of births and deaths (ceaseless endless reincarnations transitioning under different realms undergoing countless life existences)' under the worldly egoistic cultural/spiritual/religious/ancestral/political/national/regional/commercial ideas/beliefs/values/practices, or what the mind thinks and believes as 'entering Nirvana/Nibhana'.

The Nirvana/Nibhana in both the teachings of yoga and buddhism, is merely about the annihilation/silence/absence of the egoistic impure restless selfless modification of the mind, or more precisely, the absence of the idea of 'I' and egoism, and all kinds of impurities deriving from the idea of 'I' and egoism, that give rise to restlessness/peacelessness/murkiness, or the existence/presence of the veil of ignorance (the restless selfless thoughts activities/process/current, or the ceaseless births (arising) and deaths (passing away) of countless names and forms of countless ideas/thoughts/desires/feelings/emotions/actions/reactions under different shapes/qualities and forming the different impermanent realms/states of mind), where the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mind of the physical structure functioning under the presence of conscious awareness cannot perceive/know/see/understand things as it is.

Functioning under the veil of ignorance, the thinking and acting faculty/mind is unwittingly (ignorantly) being limited and conditioned by the existing accumulated worldly egoistic personal/parental/cultural/spiritual/ancestral/religious/philosophical/national/regional/communal/political/commercial way of thinking, imprint, knowledge, information, ideas, beliefs, values, and practices to perceive/think/reason/analyze/understand/desire/aspire/behave/feel/act and react/live life in certain way and not in certain way, not only being the slave of all that, but also the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function/mechanisms of the body and mind, the senses and the sense organs, the mind perception of names and forms, the limited and conditional cognition/memory/knowledge/belief/values/intellect/emotion/sensation/desire/action/reaction, the interchanging states of conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious or the presence and absence and degrees of conscious awareness, the self acknowledgement/the ego/the idea of 'I', the restless thinking process/activity or the impermanent states of mind or the restless modifications of the mind (the veil of ignorance), or the absence and presence/availability and non-availability of pleasant/unpleasant, agreeable/disagreeable, desirable/undesirable, enjoyable/non-enjoyable or painful, and deserving/undeserving experiences, affairs, ties and connections, relationships, friendships, interactions, activities, conditions, situations, or impermanent changes.

Self inquiry, of seeing the truth of things as it is, devoid of the intellectual thinking process/reasoning/analysis/modification of the mind, under the presence of the one-pointed thoughtless desireless intentionless attributeless actionless selfless conscious awareness (the stillness/silence/absence/annihilation of the selfless restless egoistic impure modification of the mind/conscious thought activities a.k.a. the absence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness under the presence of conscious awareness), is absolutely possible. Even if it is also impermanent, but that momentary precious glimpse towards the truth of selflessness will change how the conscious active selfless mind functions/thinks/reasons/understands/acts/reacts/feels/desires/behaves constructively/compassionately/wisely/selflessly/desirelessly/peacefully/fearlessly/freely as it is, while still existing and functioning selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, and conditionally, in NOW.

It is the absence of the conscious modification of the mind or the conscious thinking/thought process/activity not only during the state of unconscious (deep sleep state)/semi-conscious (semi-awake/sleep state and dreaming), but particularly also during the state of conscious (wakeful state) under the presence of conscious awareness. The mind is awake/conscious but devoid of conscious thinking/thought process/activity. The conscious selfless mechanisms of the thinking and acting faculty/mind under the presence of conscious awareness is absorbed/subjugated/resting in silence upon the selfless universal consciousness.

And there is neither right nor wrong to maximize the good health and fitness condition and function for maximal survival and longer life span with maximum enjoyment of the body and mind, not to the point of hurting/exploiting/exhausting/damaging the selfless existence and function of oneself and others or the surrounding environment in order to achieve such aspiration/desire/goal, ignorantly and unintentionally.

Inquire towards the selfless conscious awareness

All are selfless.

The mind stuff, is selfless.

The thinking faculty, or the function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind, is selfless.

The modification of the mind, or the thought process/activity, is selfless.

All the different selfless mechanisms that enabling the selfless thinking faculty, or the selfless mind to be existing and functioning as what it is, that consists of the conscious awareness, the senses and the organs of the senses, the perception, the cognition/the accumulated knowledge/the memory storage, the intellect/the reasoning/the discrimination/the understanding, the feelings and emotions, the sensations, the thinking, and the conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious desires/urges/actions and reactions, including the idea of 'I' (the ego), or the self awareness/acknowledgement, as well as the selfless supportive energy and elements that enables all cells/organs/systems/functions/mechanisms to be functioning as what they are, are all selfless.

The presence and absence of conscious awareness that enables the mind to be aware (conscious) or semi-aware (semi-conscious) or unaware (unconscious) of the objects of awareness, or the existence and function of itself, the modification of the mind, the physical structure, and the surrounding environment, is also selfless. It can be present or absent, or it comes and goes, depending on the different states of consciousness that is impermanent.

The selfless universal consciousness that is always there as it is, that doesn't come or go, that doesn't change, that pervades all and everything within and without, that gives rise to the different impermanent states of consciousness/awareness to the selfless minds - Complete absence of consciousness/awareness (state of unconscious/deep sleep/coma), partial absence/presence of consciousness/awareness (state of semi-conscious/semi-sleep/semi-awake/dreaming), and complete presence of consciousness/awareness (state of fully conscious/aware/awake), is also selfless.

The selfless mind stuff, or the different selfless mechanisms of the mind (the different tools that are needed to be making the movies, the movies projector, and the projector screen for screening/reflecting/hosting the movies) and the selfless states/modifications/thought activities of the mind (the movies), is neither pure nor impure, while the contents of the modification of the mind, or the thought process/activities in the many different minds (the different contents of the many different movies produced by the many different movies makers), that consists of many different way of thinking, belief/disbelief, values, practices, thoughts, ideas, sensations, feelings and emotions, desires, actions and reactions, even though they are just what they are, neither pure nor impure, but they can be conditioning and influencing the selfless mechanisms of perception, cognition, intellect, reasoning, understanding, aspiration, behavior, action, and reaction in certain way or not in certain way, that appeared to be destructive or constructive, that can give rise to destructive or constructive consequences unto oneself, others, and the surrounding environment.

Just like the selfless universal consciousness is untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by the selfless impermanent manifestations of all kinds of names and forms manifesting under different qualities/conditions/time, space, and causation/impermanent changes upon itself, the selfless conscious awareness is also untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by the objects of awareness.

There might be pure or impure/pleasant or unpleasant/positive or negative/constructive or destructive thoughts, ideas, beliefs, values, practices, desires, aspirations, sensations, feelings and emotions, behaviors, actions and reactions, ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away in the selfless modifications of the mind governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, but the selfless impermanent conscious awareness that can be presence or absence depending on the different states of consciousness, is untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by all that.

The mind might be in a state of purity (clarity) or impurity (murky), happiness or unhappiness, positiveness or negativeness, constructiveness or destructiveness, but the selfless conscious awareness doesn't become pure or impure, happy or unhappy, positive or negative, constructive or destructive.

The practice of concentration and/or meditation is about strengthening and sharpening the power of awareness by gathering the dissipated wavering awareness to be focusing at one particular point of focus or at one particular object of awareness (particularly focusing within towards what is happening in the body and mind in NOW, towards the breathing, or sensations, or thoughts, or feelings and emotions, that enables the mind to see the truth of impermanence and selflessness directly as it is), devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, association, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

During and after the prolonged process of the practice of gathering the dissipated awareness at one single object of awareness, or keeping the attention or the focus at one point of focus, the strength and sharpness of the conscious awareness will increase, just as the power or efficiency of the eyesight or hearing, or the power of intellectual learning, reasoning, and understanding, or the power of memory, can be declining or improving under different influential condition.

The strengthened and sharpened conscious awareness can even maintain fully presence during the semi-conscious state, or the sleep state, or the dream state, or even in the unconscious/deep sleep/coma state. Such as, certain minds can be aware of and remember clearly towards the dreams (vivid dreams) or even the unconscious perception of names and forms (the unconscious autonomous thought process/perception of names and forms) during the state of unconsciousness, or deep sleep, or coma.

The mind that was in the state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/complete resting/coma wasn't consciously aware of itself and the surrounding environment during the state of complete absence of conscious awareness, being unaware of itself (the absence of the idea of 'I' (the ego), or self acknowledgement/awareness - the reflection of Selflessness) and its selfless impermanent autonomous modification of the mind, or the different autonomous bodily functions, or the surrounding environment, however, there are some minds don't even consciously know/aware of what was happening during the state of unconsciousness under the absence of conscious awareness, and they don't know why, but they come back into the state of consciousness (waking up) remembering partially/mostly/fully not only the accumulated conscious memory/imprints of before they went into the state of sleep/dream/deep sleep (the self acknowledgement/awareness of a particular self identity under a specific accumulated memory/imprints), but also the ceaseless autonomous memory/imprints of the ceaseless unconscious autonomous physical and mental activities during the state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/coma, due to the selfless universal consciousness (the timeless changeless silent witness) that pervades all and everything, is always there as it is, beyond the three states of consciousness in all minds, that doesn't come and go, even though the conscious awareness can be presence or absence depending on the different states of consciousness, that is highly important and inevitable for all kinds of sentient and non-sentient living organisms to be interchanging between conscious activities and complete rest from conscious activities even though there are still some essential continuous autonomous physical/mental activities ceaselessly happening for life maintenance under the momentary state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/coma.

Similarly, there are minds that have very little or even no awareness towards themselves, of what is going on in the body and mind, or towards the surrounding environment, even under the state of wakefulness. Or, when the mind is fully focusing on reading a book, or watching a movie, or it goes into a deep contemplation (state of meditation), it has no awareness towards certain bodily sensations or certain noise/sound/smell/talking/movement/activity in the surrounding environment (being momentarily cut-off from the conscious perception of names and forms via the senses and sense organs, even though the unconscious autonomous imprints of everything is still there as it is).

All these are neither good nor bad. The most important thing is about the absence of grasping, or attachment/association/identification/craving/aversion/comparison/judgment/expectation under the presence of conscious awareness towards anything and everything (the selfless impermanent modifications/states/thought activities of the mind, or the objects of awareness/perception/knowing/experience).

All kinds of physical and mental yoga and/or buddhism practices are merely about the thinning-out of the degrees of grasping that leads to the complete annihilation of grasping (the thinning-out of the idea of 'I' and egoism, that also lead to the thinning-out of impurities and restlessness).

The prolonged practice of concentration and meditation under the presence of non-grasping (the absence of grasping), will eventually lead towards the process of self-inquiry to be inquiring towards the truth of things as it is, where the mind perceives the perceived names and forms as they are, or is aware of the objects of awareness as they are, under the absence of the subjective thinking/reasoning/judgment under the influence of any particular worldly passionate egoistic impure desires/ideas/beliefs/values/practices (under a one pointed quiet thoughtless desireless peaceful state of mind).

The minds that have no correct understanding towards the selfless modification of the mind, are unwittingly or ignorantly being the slave of all that, where there is the idea of 'I (the ego) and egoism of grasping, or attachment, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, and expectation being generated towards all those selfless manifestations of perceived names and forms/thoughts/sensations/feelings/emotions/memories/imaginations/dreams/urges/inspirations/aspirations, that lead to ceaseless and restless ideas/desires/actions/reactions/behaviors (the presence of restlessness and all kinds of impurities - The formation of the veil of ignorance).

The minds that have correct understanding towards all that, they are resting upon the unchanging timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness, having the selfless conscious awareness being aware of all that, while being undetermined or undisturbed by all that - devoid of the idea of 'I' (the ego), or egoism of grasping, or attachment, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation, allowing all the selfless manifestations of perceived names and forms, thoughts, dreams, memories, imaginations, ideas, desires, sensations, feelings, and emotions, being there as they are, allowing them to be arising, changing, and passing away, governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, without being influenced or determined by all that to be acting or reacting that are unnecessary, apart from attending the inevitable essential needs/activities for life maintenance.

The minds that are practicing yoga and/or buddhism and meditation, is all about non-grasping, or the absence of grasping, where the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind that is being conscious towards the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself and the selfless impermanent modification of the mind under the presence of the selfless impermanent conscious awareness, is aware of all those selfless manifestations of names and forms or the thought process/activities/ideas/sensations/feelings/emotions/memories/imaginations, but devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment/grasping, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation towards all that.

Non-grasping doesn't exist or is invalid in oneness/non-duality/non-separateness, upon the selfless mind attains direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness.

Non-grasping/non-attachment/non-identification/non-craving/non-aversion/non-comparison/non-judgment/non-expectation don't exist in the timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness, or upon the mind attains direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness (the absence of the idea of 'I'/the ego).

Meanwhile, the selfless mechanisms of the mind is not the contents of the selfless modifications of the mind.

The conscious mind awareness is merely existing and being what it is along with the selfless existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the body and mind.

Under the presence of conscious awareness, the conscious mind is aware of the objects of awareness, or the knower knows the knowledge, or the perceiver perceives the perception of names and forms via the selfless function of the senses and the sense organs that are existing and functioning under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements.

The conscious mind (the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty of the physical body) under the presence of conscious awareness, is not the objects of awareness, and vice versa, the objects of awareness is not the awareness, including what the mind perceives/acknowledges/understands/identifies as 'this is I/me/myself' (thoughts/ideas) is also not the conscious awareness.

The presence of conscious awareness is merely the 'connecting bridge' that allows the selfless mind to be aware of the selfless existence and function of the mind itself and all kinds of perceived names and forms in the surrounding environment, that are all selfless and impermanent (there is no permanent independent infinite immortal individual self existence that exists in the body and mind, or in all kinds of names and forms).

Just as the presence of light (the 'connecting bridge') that enables the perceptive mind to perceive sights via the sense of seeing to see the objects of seeing through the organ of eyes. Under the absence of light, the mind doesn't perceive sights even if the different mechanisms of the mind and the sense and organ of eyes are existing and functioning perfectly as they are.

The presence/availability of light is selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional (can be strong or weak/brighter or dimmer/complete or partial presence and absence), so as the presence of conscious awareness that exists along with the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary existence and function of the mortal body and mind.

Without the selfless support of the selfless energy and different selfless elements that come together to form the selfless impermanent existence and function of the limited and conditional mortal body and mind, what is the selfless impermanent existence and function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mind of the selfless impermanent mortal physical structure?

Without the selfless impermanent existence and function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mechanism/mind of the selfless impermanent physical structure, what is the restless modification of the mind or the worldly life existence of enjoyment and suffering?

Without the selfless universal consciousness, what is conscious awareness?

Without the conscious awareness, what is the objects of awareness?

Without the selfless existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the mind, what is good and bad, right and wrong, positive and negative, purity and impurity, happiness and unhappiness, meaningfulness and meaninglessness, appropriateness and disappropriateness, deserving and non-deserving, enjoyment and suffering?

And hence, non-grasping is valid and possible, as long as there is still the restless modification of the mind manifesting under the selfless impermanent existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the selfless mind under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, under the presence of the selfless conscious awareness, that gives rise to duality or separateness (subject and object, 'I' and 'not I').

Non-grasping (the yoga and/or buddhism practice, or meditation/self-inquiry/conscious mind evolution to eliminate the veil of ignorance and to transcend suffering), or non-grasping towards the objects of awareness, or the conscious mind perception/experience of dualities/separateness/subject and object, or enjoyment and suffering, doesn't exist or is invalid, upon Silence, or the stillness/annihilation of the restless modification of the mind.

That is why, it really doesn't matter if the mind still hasn't understand (completely) towards all these, even if the mind might still keep hurting itself and others and the surrounding environment either intentionally or unintentionally, due to unwittingly and ignorantly functioning under the influence of ignorance and the consequences of ignorance.

Because at least, the mind might stop harming/hurting itself and/or others and the surrounding environment during the time when it is being occupied by all kinds of ongoing physical and mental yoga and/or buddhism practices during its momentary selfless and impermanent existence and function. However, there are some minds might still be harming/hurting the body and mind during the process of learning and performing the different yoga and/or buddhism practice under the presence of the habitual ignorant and egoistic ideas, thinking, understanding, attitude, desire, aspiration, action, and reaction.

That's why the highly importance of the initial mind purification process (mental practices) under the help of the observation of renunciation, dispassion, solitude, seclusion, and silence, in order to eliminate the ego and egoism even before the beginning of learning and performing the physical practices.

Such as, occupying the entire life existence into performing ceaseless selfless service or karma yoga for oneself and others, or performing one's duties and responsibilities towards looking after oneself and others and the surrounding environment, without the need of performing any kind of specific yoga asana practice, breathing exercise, chanting, prayer, ritual, concentration and meditation practice under particular name and form, and etc.

It's about perform all kinds of actions without grasping/attachment.

Perform all actions/practices/duties/responsibilities, and let go the fruit of actions/practices/duties/responsibilities, allowing the fruit of actions to be what it is.

The minds that understand this, there is no difference between action and inaction, between worldly duties and all kinds of yoga and/or buddhism physical and mental practices, between different types of yoga/buddhism practice, or between different lineages/paths of yoga/buddhism. Not to say, there is no this type/lineage/path of yoga/buddhism is more superior/inferior than some other type/lineage/path of yoga/buddhism. But the presence of correct understanding towards all that is crucial, as that is influencing whether the mind will be generating behaviors, actions, and reactions that hurt oneself and others, or not, regardless of whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Meanwhile, the direct self realization towards all these, can allow the mind to be resting in peace amidst the chaotic world of ignorance and egoism, and/or to be making full use of the selfless impermanent momentary existence and function of the body and mind with the available existing and accumulating talents, skills, knowledge, understanding, experience, and opportunity, under the absence of ignorance, the idea of 'I' (the ego), egoism, restlessness, and all kinds of impurities (corrupted and destructive ideas, thinking, understanding, beliefs, values, desires, aspirations, actions and reactions, feelings and emotions, self-righteousness, pride, the urge to control everything to be or not to be in certain way, and etc), to be looking after and benefiting oneself, all and everything, and the surrounding environment, selflessly and indiscriminately.

And hence, it is highly important for activating the mind conscious evolution, to eliminate the veil of ignorance, to be resting in unconditional peace upon the selfless universal consciousness, during the momentary existence and function of the selfless impermanent mortal body and mind.

Inquire the truth of everything.

The selfless universal consciousness is attributeless, neither pure nor impure

When the mind is still functioning under the veil of ignorance, where the mind is still being conditioned by the mind perception of duality and 'I-ness' and 'mine-ness' under the influence of worldly egoistic ideas, beliefs, values, aspirations, and practices, where the mind couldn't perceive, or grasp, or understand the teachings about 'The conscious mind evolution' and 'The mind purification and silencing process', and the one same essence in all and everything, about 'Selflessness', 'Oneness', 'Non-separateness', 'Non-self', 'Timelessness', as well as 'The timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness', or 'The silent witness', it is normal and common that the mind will think and believe that there are many different individual consciousness under different degrees of impurities that exist in the many different bodies and minds respectively under different realms/conditions/qualities/traits, that there is different quality or attribute in the consciousness, that there is the higher pure consciousness and the lower impure consciousness, where there are different degrees of impurities existing in the different individual consciousness, where the mind thinks that the mind purification process is about purifying and removing the impurities in the contaminated corrupted impure consciousness, to make the consciousness to become pure, to regain its original state of purity, that is identical with the universal pure consciousness.

There is nothing wrong, and it's common and natural that the mind will think and understand in such way under the influence of ignorance.

Upon the annihilation of ignorance after engaging in the genuine and persevered mind purification and silencing process, the same mind will realize that it is not what it thought it is, but there is also nothing wrong, because the presence of that impure incorrect understanding in the mind, where the selfless thinking and acting faculty under the presence of conscious awareness is aware of the presence of ignorance/unknown/impurities in itself, and hence, there is the intense yearning towards liberation, knowledge, purity, and peace, that activates the mind purification and silencing process to be annihilating the veil of ignorance, of restlessness, impurities, the idea of 'I', and egoism, and to be engaging in the self inquiry process to inquire towards the truth of everything.

That incorrect understanding of 'Purifying the inferior lower impure consciousness to regain the state of purity and become one or identical with the superior highest pure universal consciousness', which has been the main conscious desire/motivation that motivates the mind to be engaging in the mind purification and silencing process diligently and determinedly, even though it is not at all about purifying the consciousness that is neither pure nor impure, that doesn't need to be purified, but then, eventually the engagement in all kinds of genuine persevered practice and observation will lead towards the annihilation of the veil of ignorance, a.k.a. the silence of the restless egoistic impure mind stuff/thought current/thought activities/restless modification of the mind, devoid of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, that enables the mind to realize or see the truth of all that.

Because the mind couldn't grasp something that the mind doesn't know, that is unknown to the mind.

The mind might be able to perceive, know, and understand towards, "I am aware of/experiencing/conscious towards this or that, I know and understand and remember this and that, or I am not aware of/not experiencing/unconscious towards this or that, I don't know and don't understand and don't remember this or that."

Under certain innovative scientific tools or machines deriving from advanced science and technology, where the tools/machines can detect certain gross and subtle conscious and unconscious brains activities/thought current, of thinking, emotions, restlessness, calmness, sleep state, dreaming, or deep sleep state, of the state of consciousness (wakeful state/conscious activities), the state of semi-consciousness (semi-awake/sleep state and dreaming/semi-conscious activities), and the state of unconsciousness (deep sleep state/coma/autonomous selfless operation of the selfless bodily systems ceaselessly operating for basic life maintenance even under complete absence of conscious awareness or conscious physical and mental activities, that is highly essential for life maintenance/regeneration/rehabilitation/recuperation).

But then, "The selfless timeless attributeless universal consciousness? Selflessness? Timelessness? Attributelessness? Universal consciousness?" The mind puzzled.

Just as the infinite space, that is nameless/formless/shapeless/sizeless/weightless/tasteless/soundless/smell-less/attributeless/substanceless/motionless/timeless/limitless, that doesn't increase of decrease regardless of all kinds of names and forms under different qualities ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away in the infinite space, that one cannot see, cannot touch, cannot feel, cannot hear, cannot smell, cannot taste, cannot imagine, cannot hold, cannot keep, cannot measure, and cannot destroy, but one cannot deny that it is here and there and everywhere, within and without all and everything that are under certain names and forms of certain qualities.

Before the mind attains direct self realization towards the all pervading infinite timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness that pervades all and everyone and everything selflessly, it is normal and nothing wrong that the mind might understand and refer 'the selfless universal consciousness' that is being mentioned in both the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism as something of pure quality, or of the highest purity, that 'belongs to' the highest 'authority' of the universe a.k.a. the 'creator of the universe', that is distinct and separated from the many different 'individual consciousness' that are impure, that 'exist' in the many different individual sentient living organisms respectively, that 'belongs to' each of the many different individual impure bodies and minds respectively, where after engaging in the mind purification process to be purifying the impure consciousness that is being contaminated by all kinds of impurities, the individual consciousness will regain its original state of purity, which will then become one and identical with, or non-distinctive from the superior highest and purest consciousness of the 'creator of the universe', that 'belongs to' the 'creator of the universe'. And hence, there is the proclamation of, "I am THAT."

The mind might misunderstand that the mind purification process or the path of yoga/buddhism/meditation, is about purifying the lower impure individual consciousness (some minds might refer that as the permanent independent immortal individual soul) to be free from impurities to regain the original state of purity, to become pure again, to become one and identical with the superior highest and purest universal consciousness that 'belongs' to the 'creator of the universe', and hence, some minds refer that as, "I am the immortal pure soul," or "I am the infinite pure consciousness," or "I am THAT."

The selfless timeless attributeless universal consciousness doesn't belong to anyone or anything, not even 'belongs to' the universe, no to say, the so called 'creator of the universe' that 'exists in' and 'belongs respectively to' the many different worldly beliefs under different names and forms.

It is the selfless universal consciousness, because it is the one same all pervading timeless attributeless selfless consciousness that pervades the entire infinite space, that pervades and exists within and without all and everything, regardless of living organisms or non-living objects that had existed, that are existing or have been existing, that are constantly changing and decaying, and that are disintegrating and ceased existing, in NOW.

It is all pervading within and without all kinds of selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary names and forms that ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away under the influence of the intentionless indiscriminate nature's law of cause and effect in this infinite space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

Under the absence of the selfless conscious mind awareness, or under the state of semi-conscious, or being unconscious, where the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind is semi-conscious/unconscious towards anything, there are still some semi-conscious physical and mental activities (such as dreaming and/or sleep walking during sleep, or wild imaginations and hallucinations under the influence of substances, or under certain physical condition and mental state), or there are ceaseless subtle autonomous life maintenance activities ceaselessly receiving inputs and/or releasing outputs operated under the different selfless autonomous bodily systems, even though the selfless universal consciousness is always here and there and everywhere, as it is, never appear or disappear, never increase or decrease.

Just as the sun is always there as it is, never appear or disappear. However, under the movement of the earth (just like the inter-changing conscious, semi-conscious, and unconscious states and activities of the body and mind) and the various elements in the atmosphere (just like the impurities and restless thought activities in the modification of the mind), the sun (just like the selfless universal consciousness) appears to be appearing and disappearing, generating the false impression of day and night, or sunrise and sunset, or the light and heat appears to be mild or intense.

Just like the body and mind being fully aware (wakeful), or semi-aware (sleep/dream), or unaware (deep sleep, or coma), of the different states/degrees of conscious awareness (just like the movements of the earth and the various elements in the atmosphere that are ceaselessly changing) generating the false impression of the consciousness appears to be coming and going (just like the sun appears to be rising and setting), while it is actually the selfless mind conscious awareness that is changing, that is presence or absence, that appears or disappears, that appears to be strong or weak, and hence, there is the practice of developing and empowering the limited and conditional degrees of awareness, or alertness, or focus, or attentiveness.

That is also why, after a prolonged duration of wakefulness/alertness or intense focus on something, the mind will become tired, and needs to take rest/momentarily shut-off. Just like the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and the different functions of the body and mind, the conscious mind awareness/focus/attentiveness, or the willpower/patience/forbearance/endurance/energy level is also limited and conditional.

The only 'thing' that is unlimited and unconditional, is the infinite independent permanent timeless attributeless all pervading selfless universal consciousness.

The selfless impermanent limited and conditional world of names and forms, of inevitable ceaseless maintenance during the momentary existence and function, of non-satisfactory momentary perishable goodness or pleasurable enjoyment, and the inevitable/evitable impermanent painful suffering that is being perceived/experienced by the selfless mind under the presence of the conscious mind awareness, don't exist, if without the selfless function of the selfless mind functioning under the existence of the selfless universal consciousness that gives rise to the conscious mind awareness to the mind, to be conscious towards itself internally (the physical structure) and externally (the surrounding environment).

Whether the selfless body and mind is living/activating/functioning consciously/semi-consciously/unconsciously, or not, and is 'being aware of' the ceaseless changes in the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the selfless body and mind that has a beginning of existence and an end of existence, or not, it doesn't affect the timeless attributeless all pervading selfless universal consciousness.

There might be certain illness/injury/damage happening to the brains, or the nerves, or the senses, or the organs of the senses, where there is certain partial dysfunction or complete dysfunction of the brains, or the nerves, or the senses, or the organs of the senses, where the body and mind might not be able to function as it is, but that also doesn't affect the selfless universal consciousness.

Just as there are all kinds of activities that are happening in the universe, of countless names and forms ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away, but all that don't affect, or damage, or contaminate the infinite space, that is always there, as it is.

The selfless universal consciousness doesn't increase or decrease, and doesn't come and go, even if the energy level can be high or low, or the body and mind can be functioning efficiently or inefficiently, or the body and mind is fully conscious/aware, or semi-conscious/aware, or unconscious/unaware, or whether there is the presence or absence of ignorance, restlessness, or impurities in the modification of the mind, or the different states of mind, as well as upon the body and mind ceaselessly decaying, weakening, and disintegrating, or completely ceased existing and functioning.

The selfless universal consciousness that pervades all and everything, that enables the living organisms to have the conscious awareness to be aware/conscious of its selfless impermanent momentary existence and function as well as the surrounding environment, is the one same consciousness in all and everything.

There are many different individual selfless bodies and minds that have their own particular cause and effect and traits/qualities/conditions/abilities/disabilities/limitations to be existing and functioning as what they are, but there is no different separate individual consciousness of specific permanent independent immortal individual self identity, that belongs to each particular individual selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary living being or non-living object respectively, not to say, there is no 'lower impure individual consciousness'.

It is attributeless. It is permanent and unchanging. It is infinite, limitless, and unconditional. It is neither superior nor inferior. It is neither pure nor impure. There is neither pure consciousness nor impure consciousness. There is neither higher consciousness nor lower consciousness. There is neither my consciousness nor your/his/her/its consciousness.

The selfless universal consciousness is the selfless actionless timeless silent witness that has been witnessing all kinds of selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary names and forms ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away upon it, that is untouched, uncontaminated, undetermined, unaffected, uninfluenced, unchanged, or undamaged by all THAT as well as the presence or absence of all kinds of impurities, restlessness, the idea of 'I', and egoism, of all kinds of physical and mental conditions/states/activities/abilities/disabilities/limitations, thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, memories, imaginations, ideas, beliefs, values, understanding and non-understanding, desires and don't desires, behaviors, actions, reactions that ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away upon the selfless universal consciousness throughout the countless different selfless bodies and minds.

Just as all kinds of different images or contents of the different movies being projected onto the screen don't affect, or contaminate, or damage, or change the screen. The screen (just like the selfless universal consciousness that pervades the entire infinite space) is what allowing the countless different movies (all kinds of manifestations/perceptions of names and forms under different causes and effects) to be screened upon it for the viewers (the perceptive minds under the presence of conscious awareness) to watch (to perceive/experience/be aware of) the movies (the mind perception of all kinds of names and forms/experiences/impermanent changes), and to have different reflection/understanding/opinions/thoughts/ideas/actions/reactions towards the different movies (pleased or displeased, desirable or undesirable, agreeable or disagreeable, like or dislike, enjoyable or non-enjoyable, inspiring or non-inspiring, enlightening or non-enlightening, elevating or depressing, calming or disturbing, grasping or non-grasping, and etc).

The difference between the screen and the selfless universal consciousness, is that the screen is a name and form like all the other names and forms that are impermanent, limited, and conditional, that is subject to decay and disintegration, that can be damaged and destroyed, that will affect the quality of the images or contents of the movies being projected onto it, that will cease existing, but not the selfless universal consciousness.

The selfless universal consciousness witnesses and reflects all and everything as they are, however, the presence of the veil of ignorance, or the restlessness, the impurities, the idea of 'I', and egoism in the selfless modification of the mind distort or corrupt the reflection of all and everything, and/or hinder the mind to perceive/know/see/understand all and everything as they are.

It is like the mirror will reflect all and everything as it is, however, the presence of dust, or dirt, or cracks, or movement will distort or corrupt the reflection, or hinder the mind to see the reflection of all and everything as they are. Similarly, the mirror is also a name and form that is impermanent, limited, and conditional, but not the selfless universal consciousness.

It is the selfless impermanent limited and conditional mind stuff, or the selfless function/modification/activity/state of the mind, that appears to be pure/calmed/egoless under the absence of impurities, restlessness, or the idea of 'I' and egoism, and that appears to be impure/agitated/disturbed/restless/egoistic under the presence of impurities, restless thought activities, or the idea of 'I' and egoism.

Under the presence of impurities, restlessness, and the idea of 'I' and egoism, the impure restless egoistic modification of the mind (the selfless corrupted mind stuff - the cognition, the understanding, the intellect, the reasoning power, the thinking and behavior pattern, the action and reaction) is the selfless subject that needs to be undergoing the mind purification process to be purifying and eliminating impurities, restlessness, the idea of 'I', and egoism from the selfless impermanent modification of the mind, so that the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty that perceives and that is conscious/aware of all kinds of names and forms under the presence of the selfless conscious mind awareness to be conscious/aware of all THAT that are being reflected upon the selfless universal consciousness, can now perceive/see/know/understand all the names and forms that it perceives through the senses, or the objects of the awareness/perception/senses as what they are, as they are.

Upon the direct self realization towards all that under a purified and quiet modification of the mind (clarity), the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty (the selfless mind) will know that there is only the one same all pervading timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness that pervades all and everyone and everything, within and without, that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

There is not any lower inferior individual consciousness that is impure (that is distinct and separated from the so called 'highest superior universal pure consciousness'), that needs to be purified to become pure, to regain the state of purity, and to become one and identical with the selfless universal consciousness. It is always the one same all pervading timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness.

Similarly, the selfless mind stuff/function/mechanism is also neither pure nor impure, even though they can be functioning under the presence or absence of impurities, because the impurities don't belong to them, or the impurities are not them or part of them.

That is also why, it is absolutely possible to free the mind stuff from the veil of ignorance, of restlessness, impurities, the idea of 'I', and egoism. It is like the dirt or dust, that is landing on the subject that can be removed/cleaned up/eliminated from the subject. However, the dirt or dust can be very stubborn to be removed/cleaned up/eliminated, that requires prolonged and persevered continuous action of cleaning under the help of certain tools.

Similarly, the minds are neither good nor bad, even though the minds can be functioning under the presence or absence of the veil of ignorance and its by-products, and hence, the minds can appear to be good or bad, kind or unkind, selfish or unselfish, wise or ignorant. Under this understanding, one will know that all minds can be free and have peace, or be kind, if they want, and be willingly to exert effort for that.

The different impermanent limited and conditional selfless bodies and minds/names and forms/living organisms/objects coming and going in this infinite space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything, generating different causes (actions) and effects (consequences of actions) impacting all and everyone and everything, either wittingly or unwittingly, and they are never the same but ceaselessly changing, but the selfless timeless attributeless universal consciousness is still the same. The infinite space of the universe is still the same. They are not being affected, or damaged, or contaminated by all kinds of selfless manifestations being what they are.

The many different individual selfless perceptive minds have their own particular individual and/or collective group perceptions/experiences/cause and effect/impermanent changes in their respective momentary existence, and might or might not remember/recall all the perceptions/experiences/actions and consequences of actions/impermanent changes from the moment of forming/arising (birth) until the moment of disintegrating/passing away (death) under the selfless function of the memory and memory storage (just like the timeless selfless imprints of everything imprinted in/witnessed by the timeless selfless universal consciousness), however, it is the one same selfless timeless universal consciousness (the one and only silent witness) that pervades all and everyone and everything, that has been witnessing all and everyone and everything, of the ceaseless births and deaths of the countless names and forms, of the ceaseless impermanent changes in the countless names and forms in between arising (birth/the beginning of existence) and passing away (death/the end of existence).

The minds that understand this, they will also understand towards what is 'the recollection of countless momentary existence of the many different names and forms under different qualities existing momentarily under different time, space, and causation' (that is being mistaken as 'the countless and endless reincarnations of the respective immortal individual consciousness/soul' reincarnating into countless and endless 'different existences' transitioning under 'different realms', under different time, space, and causation, in an infinite loop of 'the wheel of ceaseless births and deaths'), that are merely the timeless imprints of the timeless selfless manifestations of all kinds of momentary names and forms arising, changing, and passing away upon the selfless timeless all pervading universal consciousness (the one and only timeless silent witness that witnesses the timeless and endless manifestations of countless names and forms manifesting/arising under different qualities/states/conditions, and ceaselessly changing and passing away under different time (era), space (location), and causation (cause and effect)), where some of the selfless perceptive minds might be able to perceive or have a glimpse towards the flashing of the random imprints of 'the timeless countless manifestations (different births and deaths) of countless different selfless momentary names and forms, arising, changing, and passing away under different realms/conditions/qualities in different time, space, and causation respectively' that don't belong to this particular selfless mind that only exists momentarily in NOW, in this particular selfless body, that has its own particular perceptions/experiences/impermanent changes/conditions/states/qualities/traits/cause and effect, and its particular memory storage of all that, in NOW.

All these imprints of the timeless selfless impermanent limited and conditional manifestations of countless different names and forms witnessed by and imprinted in the one and only timeless selfless silent witness a.k.a. the one same timeless selfless universal consciousness that pervades all and everything, are neither good nor bad, neither positive nor negative. That is also why there is the highly essential and basic teaching and practice of yoga and buddhism of non-grasping/non-attachment/non-identification/non-craving/non-aversion/non-comparison/non-judgment/non-expectation, for all the selfless impermanent momentary minds that have the intense yearning towards knowledge, liberation, freedom, and peace, during their momentary existence and function in this space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

That's why, the selfless mind only knows and remembers what it knows and what it can remember that it has been perceiving/experiencing in its particular selfless impermanent momentary existence and function in NOW, that there is only this particular selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary mortal life existence and function of this particular selfless body and mind (limited adjunct) that is constantly changing, decaying, and disintegrating, and eventually, it will pass away or ceased existing, and there are NO past previous countless lives or future next continuous lives (the worldly egoistic belief of 'ceaseless and endless loop of reincarnation' of 'a permanent independent immortal infinite individual self identity that doesn't exist' to be 'reincarnating' endlessly into different finite momentary mortal existence of different names and forms transitioning under different realms, under different time, space, and causation, in accordance to the worldly egoistic belief/values/practice of the endless generation and accumulation of inexhaustible good and bad karma) of this particular selfless body and mind, that is impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self, that only exists and ceaselessly changing, in NOW.

Most of the time, when the minds think and believe that they 'see', or 'feel', or 'experience' something that is not real, that doesn't exist in the reality, in NOW, it is merely some wild imaginations or hallucinations that happen under certain physical condition and/or mental state, or under the influence of certain substances. Just like dreams. Dreams are not real. If the mind thinks and believes that all the dreams that it perceives as something real, it is insanity.

If it is not merely some wild imaginations, or hallucinations, or dreams that are not real at all, where the minds claimed that they could fully consciously 'know' or 'perceive' something that they think and believe is 'their own' countless ceaseless reincarnations in countless different existences of countless different names and forms transitioning under different realms/conditions/qualities under different time, space, and causation, but they are merely some random flashing of selfless imprints deriving from the all pervading timeless selfless universal consciousness (the timeless silent witness) that has been witnessing the countless selfless manifestations of countless names and forms under different time, space, and causation, manifesting under different realms/conditions/qualities/states, that don't belong to these particular minds that only exist selflessly and momentarily in this particular impermanent, limited, and conditional existence and ceaselessly changing, in NOW.

There is the beneficial reason why the one same timeless selfless universal consciousness in all and everything, or the one and only timeless silent witness of all and everything, is unknown to most minds, even when it exists in all and everything, and all perceptive minds are being conscious because of that. It will be tremendously over-whelming, and extremely disturbing and confusing for the minds that don't really understand what and why are all those flashing of random imprints coming from the timeless limitless selfless universal consciousness that don't even belong to themselves, and such experience/happening will be treated and referred as insanity.

Many minds would like/wish to be able to know what is going on in the minds of others, under specific intention or desire, that is their freedom of thinking and desire, but if they know the truth of the restless impure mind stuff, they won't even want to confront with their own restless impure corrupted modification of the mind, not to say, they would not want to know about what is going on in the mind of anyone, as it will be extremely disturbing and exhausting. Just by dealing with the restless impure mind stuff in oneself, is already so difficult, over-whelming, confusing, and exhausting, not to say, if being consciously aware of what is going on in all the other minds that are full of all kinds of desires, greed, violence, hypocrisy, lies, plotting, scheming, anticipation, projection, ill will, hatred, anger, jealousy, fear, worry, insanity, madness, confusions, corruptions, wild imaginations, hallucinations, impurities, and restlessness, as well as all kinds of painful sorrow and suffering, while not being able to interfere with all the others being what and how they are under the influence of the nature's law of cause and effect.

That is why the universal consciousness is also selfless, even if it is permanent, independent, or infinite.

There is no painful suffering in the all pervading timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness, even when it is the timeless silent witness timelessly witnessing towards all kinds of painful suffering that the countless selfless impure egoistic restless minds had/have been generating and undergoing, under the veil of ignorance.

It is only the countless selfless conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting minds functioning selflessly under the selfless impermanent limited and conditional mortal physical structure that is non-self, that doesn't even belong to the selfless body and mind itself, that is the one that perceives all kinds of painful sorrow and suffering, or the notion of 'I am not free' due to being ignorant towards all these selfless natural manifestations, under the influence of the veil of ignorance, not knowing that they themselves and all and everything are selfless.

The sense of separateness and duality, as well as pride and shame, low and high self esteem, positiveness and negativeness, goodness and badness, righteousness and evilness, meaningfulness and meaninglessness, offensiveness and defensiveness, togetherness and aloneness, possessiveness, discrimination, discontentment, greed, clinging, the conscious desire and/or the instinctive urge to control/to possess/to hoard/to own/to protect/to be strong and powerful, and fear, that exist under the sense of separateness and duality deriving from ignorance, will all be vanished from the modification of the mind, upon the direct self realization towards all these.

Regardless of whether the minds realize or don't realize towards all THAT, it doesn't change the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self. Beyond all the different qualities of the different names and forms, beyond the selfless mind stuff, or the selfless functions/mechanisms of the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind, or the different selfless impermanent states of mind, beyond the selfless mind perception towards the world of selfless impermanent limited and conditional names and forms, is the one same infinite timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness.

However, the realization towards all THAT during the momentary existence and function of the countless selfless impermanent minds under the countless selfless impermanent physical structures in this world of diversity that doesn't belong to anyone or anything, is the highest duty of all minds, so that the minds stop hurting themselves and others and the surrounding environment during their momentary existence and function in this infinite space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything, resting in unconditional peace and freedom, being undetermined, undisturbed, and uninfluenced by the boundless ignorance in this selfless impermanent world of all kinds of limited, conditional, and non-self momentary mortal existence of diverse names and forms that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

Renunciation, dispassion, right discrimination or basic correct understanding, seclusion, solitude, silence, mental and emotional independence, meditation, contemplation, self inquiry, determination, perseverance, forbearance, acceptance, adjustment, adaptation, accommodation, intense yearning towards absolute knowledge/liberation from ignorance and suffering/unconditional peace and freedom, non-attachment and non-identification, non-craving and non-aversion, non-judgment and non-expectation, non-violence, non-clinging, and non-grasping, are the essential elements of The Middle Path in both yoga and buddhism that will lead towards direct self realization towards all THAT.

If the mind doesn't know this, where it has doubt (and, the mind should be doubting*) towards the truth of all these, then the mind can engage in certain methods or practices that can help to purify and quiet the modification of the mind, to be inquiring towards the truth of all these, to attain direct self realization towards all these.

*Doubting, is absolutely nothing wrong, and it indicates the possibility of conscious mind evolution. Doubting towards the truth of something or everything, apart from the direct or indirect experience of painful sorrow and suffering, is the highly essential element that initiates the mind purification and silencing process, to be inquiring towards the truth of everything, to be free from ignorance, to attain direct self realization towards the truth of everything.

Just as the young Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was being initiated by the indirect non-personal experience under the perception/coming in contact with/awareness towards the existence of painful sorrow and suffering in all the others in the surrounding environment, towards the inevitable suffering of selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function that needs ceaseless effort for maintenance, of inevitable changes, decay, aging, weakness, illness, and disintegration, or death, and had ignited the intense yearning towards knowledge, liberation, freedom, and peace in himself, even when he hadn't have any direct personal experience towards painful sorrow and suffering (yet), while being determined to attain direct self realization towards the truth of suffering, and eventually, he attained self realization after years of renunciation while learning and observing all kinds of methods and practices from different teachers of different lineages and paths, and underwent the different paths of extremity that didn't work, that led to the realization towards the middle path, that eventually led to the self realization towards the mind stuff, the truth of Selflessness, Impermanence, Limitation, Conditional, and Non-self, and the nature's law of cause and effect.

"All have the one same essence of BUDDHA." - Siddhartha Gautama Buddha
