Renunciation and dispassion

Siddhartha Gautama Buddha let go or renounced the family life and the worldly way of living, and the title, power, wealth, easiness, enjoyment, or comfort of being a prince as well as the future ruler of a kingdom that he inherited from birth.

Swami Sivananda also let go or renounced the family life and the worldly way of living, and the title, power, wealth, easiness, enjoyment, or comfort of being a Brahmin that he inherited from birth, as well as the worldly profession of a medical doctor that he achieved through academic education, although he continued to provide charitable medical consultation/dispensary to the public throughout his lifetime.

Upon attaining self-realization (after a prolonged duration of retreating into solitude and seclusion), they came back to the world to disseminate the dharma into the world selflessly, until the end of their life existence.

Renunciation from worldly life, retreat into solitude and seclusion, is an inevitable important observation that allows the mind to be engaging in the mind purification and silencing process effectively under right attitude, right attentiveness, and right effort via the middle path, that enables the annihilation of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness from the selfless modification of the mind effectively, where the selfless thinking and acting mind knows Thyself, and transcends the selfless impermanent existence and function of itself, transcending the selfless impermanent modification of the mind, or the selfless impermanent limited and conditional worldly life existence.

Under the presence of the wise companies, Satsanga, one also needs to retreat into solitude and seclusion (Asanga - the absence of Satsanga and Kutsanga) for certain extended duration (minimum 5 to 6 years, or even longer) to be observing complete silence of physical and mental activity, including both worldly and spiritual activity (The absence of attachment, clinging, longing, and craving towards the presence of goodness, kindness, easiness, joyfulness, meaningfulness, agreement, love, support, acknowledgement, interaction, companionship, or Satsanga), not to say, under the presence of Kutsanga (Being surrounded by the worldly passionate impure egoistic minds and engaging in the worldly passionate impure egoistic affairs, activities, ties and connections, communications, and interactions), that are draining one's energy, and pulling/distracting oneself away from the highest duty of mankind to be looking after one's over-all physical and mental well-being, to attain direct experience and self-realization towards Selflessness and Impermanence, to stop hurting oneself and others and the surrounding environment out of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance.

There is the inevitable necessity of renouncing family and community life/affairs/activities/interactions/communications/ties and connections to be observing complete silence in solitude and seclusion even when the family members and the surrounding community are like-minded and agreeable as well as uplifting with correct understanding (Satsanga), not to say, when the family members and/or the surrounding community (Passionate egoistic impure worldly minded Kutsanga) are ceaselessly draining one's energy and pulling/distracting oneself away from the highest duty of mankind.

None can tell another about what they should do or shouldn't do, or how they should live their life.

None can tell another, "Your daily 'normal' way of life of engaging in family ties and social connections, communication, interaction, affair, and activity with your direct and indirect family ties and connections and the worldly community are the main reason why you didn't make any progress on the path of self-inquiry and self-realization (even when you practice some kind of yoga and meditation practice from time to time or regularly, and that you have the great aspiration towards (and have been) observing a 'healthy and simple' way of living, 'high and positive' thinking, 'good and righteous' conduct, and 'clean and pure' eating), however, you are still very much unwittingly being the slave of ignorance, the idea of 'I'/the ego, egoism of attachment/identification/craving/aversion/comparison/judgment/expectation, worldly and spiritual passionate desires/inspirations/aspirations/ambitions, worldly and spiritual knowledge and achievement, physical/mental/emotional inter-dependence and comfort, pleasurable enjoyments of the senses, the sense of pride/self-esteem/self-worth/goodness/righteousness/joyfulness/positiveness/meaningfulness/accomplishment, all kinds of impurities, and restlessness, while you strongly think and believe that you are the victim of the imperfect physical/mental/emotional genetic inheritance from your parental ancestry lineage, that you are the victim of other people's bad and wrongful behavior and undeserving ill treatment, and that all kinds of bad/unfair/wrongful/hurtful/disagreeable/unpleasant/disappointing affairs in the family/relationship/community/country/world, and all kinds of undeserving experiences or ill treatments from others are the cause of all your unhappiness, dissatisfaction, disappointment, disturbance, resentment, bitterness, hurts, anger, hatred, jealousy, greed, selfishness, shortcomings, failures, painful suffering, as well as your own disturbing hurtful behavior/action/reaction unto yourself and others out of the disturbed unhappy restless state of mind."

None can tell another, "Your ignorant egoistic impure restless way of thinking and behavior pattern that is constantly hurting yourself and others, is no doubt being conditioned and influenced by your family ancestry genetic inheritance, but even more so, by your continuous engagement, connection, communication, activity, and interaction with your family ties and connections that are under such ignorant egoistic impure restless mind thinking and behavior pattern that is highly detrimental to your physical/mental/emotional well-being. You can't change your family ancestry genetic inheritance that gives rise to a particular mind thinking and behavior pattern that are under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, but you have the conscious choice of moving away from such conditioning influential surrounding environment, in order to not continuously empowering such ignorant egoistic impure restless mind thinking and behavior pattern in yourself, but even more importantly, to be determined to purify, modify, and change such ignorant egoistic impure restless mind thinking and behavior pattern via many different types of methods or techniques."

None can tell another, "The worldly passionate egoistic thinking/belief/idea/values/practice about 'I need to be proud of myself' and 'I need to make others to be proud of me' and 'I need to be able to be good enough to be qualified/deserving to attain love/attention/encouragement/support/agreement/approval/acknowledgement/recognition/praise/compliment/acceptance/respect from myself, my family, my parents, my siblings, my relatives, my friends, my spouse, my children, my teachers, my students, my employers, my colleagues, my community, my leader, my followers, my country, my authority, and the world' are the cause of why you are what you are (devoid of peace and freedom), or why you are thinking, feeling, and behaving in the way that you are, ceaselessly longing/craving/missing/chasing after towards the gratification of the desires of craving (wants) towards the presence of love, support, accomplishment, acknowledgement, recognition, agreement, approval, acceptance, praise and compliment, understanding, happiness, goodness, positiveness, joyfulness, meaningfulness, easiness, or the pleasurable enjoyment of the body and mind/the senses, and towards the gratification of the desires of aversion (don't wants) towards the absence of all those agreeable and desirable names and forms, as well as the presence of the opposite of all that."

It has to come from the selfless thinking and acting mind itself, having the precious self awareness and basic understanding, to be self-initiative to be renouncing all that, to initiate both conscious and unconscious evolution of the conditioned and limited mind thinking and behavior pattern to be directed towards particular direction, towards attaining liberation from ignorance and the ignorant way of thinking and behavior pattern deriving from ignorance, of the path of wisdom and compassion, under intense will power and determination.

There is needless of renunciation, solitude, and seclusion, if the mind is devoid of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, where the mind is okay and free as it is, regardless of what it perceives/experiences/knows and doesn't perceive/experience/know, under any condition and situation, that it doesn't hurt itself and others and the surrounding environment, that it is uninfluenced and undetermined (not being over-powered) by all kinds of names and forms that it perceived through the senses or physical/mental inputs.

The realization towards the truth of selflessness and impermanence, is not depressive at all.

If the mind thinks and believes that it has attained self-realization, or, it thinks and believes that it knows what is selflessness, impermanence, non-self, or cause and effect, but then, it becomes highly depressed, and reluctant to perform any wholesome action, or even, it deliberately performs all kinds of unwholesome actions, as it perceives and understands that, "All and everything are meaningless, life existence is meaningless, because there is no freewill, because there is no 'I' existing to be in control of anything, where it is meaningless of trying to make any effort to be performing any actions to direct selfless impermanent changes/evolution of the body and mind in certain way, as everything is already destined to be and not to be in certain way, as well as to evolve and not evolving in certain way, governed by an existing cause that came into effect. This body and mind and its behavior/action/reaction influenced by a limited and conditional mind thinking and behavior pattern, is being conditioned and determined by inevitable ancestry genetic inheritance to be in specific condition/traits, and being influenced and determined by all kinds of physical/mental inputs that is not in the control of anything, for the mind to think, feel, desire, and behave/act/react in certain way, as well as to be experiencing or not experiencing this or that from the beginning to the end of this life existence, of every single event and happening and relationship, are all fixed and destined. I am a person that I am, of how I think, feel, desire, and behave or not, regardless of whether I am good or bad, happy or unhappy, healthy or unhealthy, fit or unfit, lazy or not lazy, selfish or unselfish, wise or ignorant, peaceful or not peaceful, I have no choice, it's not my choice, as I don't have freewill to make any choices, and I have no responsibility or control towards anything, because it is in my genes and determined by all kinds of existing or non-existing elements. I am changing into a different person also it is because of my genes is evolving in certain way accordingly under the existing cause. There is no freewill to direct the evolution of anything in certain way, because everything is selfless, inter-dependent, limited, and conditional." That clearly indicates that the mind hasn't attained self-realization yet.

Regardless of whether existing and living (as well as travelling and migrating) in any where in this world, all and everyone have been brought up, or told, or educated, or tempted, or threatened, or oppressed, or being influenced and conditioned throughout their entire life existence about how human beings under specific gender/heritage/tribe/caste/sect/title/social class/financial status/spirituality/religion/culture/nationality should or shouldn't live life in certain way, think or shouldn't think, believe or shouldn't believe, give specific value or give no value, appreciate or shouldn't appreciate, practice or shouldn't practice, should and shouldn't behave/act/react/feel/desire in certain way or not in certain way, of complying to a particular way of living/thinking/reasoning/vision/behavior/inspiration/aspiration, being conditioned not only by a particular family ancestry genetic inheritance (inevitable internal biological influence), but even more so, being conditioned largely by parental upbringing, childhood growing up environment, personal life experiences coming in contact with different experiences, events, conditions, and situations, family/community/tribal/social/national/regional/global affairs, engagements, activities, and interactions, ties and connections, friendships and relationships, cultural belief and values, spirituality and/or religion belief and practice, educational system influence, political and economical system influence, commercialism influence, philosophical influence, story telling/fairy tales/fictions/science fictions/movies/TV series/all kinds of lies and false information influence, as well as higher advanced technology inventions, public and social medias influence, of all kinds of evitable external influence,

where life existence of human beings is all about 'I', me, my self, my existence, my body, my mind, my soul, my look, my appearance, my family, my parents, my siblings, my relatives, my pets, my children, my grand children, my next generations, my friends, my community, my origin, my ancestry, my lineage, my heritage, my culture, my belief, my values, my spirituality, my religion, my ideas, my thinking, my feelings, my survival, my career, my ability, my limitation, my past, my future, my hard-work, my dedication, my contribution, my home, my country, my birth place, my nationality, my world, my pride, academic education, studying, working, eating, sleeping, playing, gathering, flirting, procreating, celebrating, mourning, gossiping, slandering, back-biting, complaining, moaning, arguing, fighting, hurting, intimidating, boasting, pretending, comparing, competing, admiring, envying, story telling, fairy tales, socializing, grouping, plotting, expectation, success, higher success, achievement, more achievement, possessions, ownership, status, title, power, wealth, endless accumulation of wealth, security, control, authorization, rules and regulations, documentation, discrimination, approval, recognition, qualification, acknowledgement, ambition, vision, inspiration, aspiration, meaningfulness, joyfulness, goodness, righteousness, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, holding onto the past, projecting into the future, stimulation and entertainment, endless higher stimulation and entertainment, enjoyment, more enjoyment, higher enjoyment, endless enjoyment, fear, worry, guilt, regret, resentment, endless desire, craving, longing, and clinging, endless disappointment, and endless dissatisfaction.

An extremely limited freedom of existence/being/evolution.

Being a plant/insect/bird/animal/uncultured human being in the wild, has a lot more freedom of existence/being/evolution than being any 'cultured' human being that exists and lives among the 'conditioned' community of so called 'cultured' human beings.

Upon the absence of all or some of those physical/mental/emotional affairs/activities/connections/interactions/stimulation/entertainments/enjoyments, the mind perceives the sense of loneliness and meaninglessness.

The minds are being conditioned by all those passionate egoistic affairs/activities/connections/interactions/stimulation/entertainments/enjoyments in the 'normal' way of living, to think and believe that all human beings need to find out the meaning of life in order to have the sense of meaningfulness that keeps them motivated in life, where they need to depend on something that make them feel nice, enjoyable, deserving, accomplished, proud, good, positive, happy, joyful, and meaningful, in order to be motivated for anything, or else, life is meaningless.

Life is not meaningless, and it doesn't have to be meaningful either. Under the different states of mind under the different impure incomplete understanding (under the presence of ignorance and its by-products), there are many things appeared to be meaningless and there are many things appeared to be meaningful, based on the different thinking, beliefs, values, desires, and practices in the different minds or community. And regardless of whether they appeared to be something meaningless or something meaningful, they all are selfless and impermanent.

If the mind truly understands that (under the absence of ignorance and its by-products), it will be free from the sense of meaningfulness and meaninglessness. It doesn't need to have the sense of meaningfulness to chase away or get rid of the sense of meaninglessness. It doesn't need to chase after and hold onto what appeared to be meaningful, and it doesn't need to be disturbed by what appeared to be meaningless. It is not being determined by something appeared to be meaningful or meaningless, where all are impermanent, all will change and pass away.

Life is neither meaningful nor meaningless. Life is just what it is. Similarly all kinds of names and forms are neither meaningful nor meaningless. All and everything are just what they are.

It depends on the state of the mind (under the presence or absence of ignorance and its by-products) and how the selfless thinking and acting mind makes use of its selfless impermanent existence and function in the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence of the selfless impermanent mechanism of a body and mind existing and functioning under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, where some minds contribute many constructive and beneficial ideas and activities, while some minds contribute many destructive and harmful ideas and activities, both consciously and unconsciously, wittingly or unwittingly, intentionally or unintentionally, into the surrounding environment or the world that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

Ignorance and the ignorant thinking and behavior is not something that can only exist in human beings that are uncivilized and non-educated, that are living in an area that is not being developed, but it also exists in the minds of the human beings that are highly civilized and educated, that are living in an area that is highly developed. Undeveloped poor countries have their own problems deriving from ignorance and its by-products, and highly developed rich countries also have their own problems deriving from ignorance and its by-products. It is not about the different degrees of civilization and education/development and wealthiness of the country. It is about whether the minds of the human beings are functioning under the influence of ignorance and its by-products, or not.

Upon experiencing great physical/mental/emotional painful suffering, disappointment, physical/mental/emotional fatigue, hurts, or despair, some minds might not know what to think or do anymore, and might turn to intoxicants or substances for getting a momentary relief, but that would inflict further physical/mental damages. That is their freedom of choice.

Or, the experience of great physical/mental/emotional painful suffering, disappointment, physical/mental/emotional fatigue, hurts, or despair, especially when the mind thinks and believes that it can't deal with life anymore, that it can't deal with any physical/mental/emotional stress and problems anymore, and that it cannot trust anyone or anything anymore, that can be the precious moment that ignites the intense desire towards liberation in the mind, where it can choose to step back from all those worldly egoistic impure affairs, ties and connections, communications, interactions, and activities, to focus fully onto itself, to be looking after its physical and mental well-being, and embarks on the path of self-inquiry and self-realization. That is not selfishness. That is the highest contribution to the world, the community, the parents, and the family.

Selflessness, where there is no permanent independent self existence of 'I' existing in the body and mind, and non-self, where all and everything are governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, it doesn't mean that there is no freewill of conscious choice making in the selfless thinking and acting mind to direct the selfless impermanent changes or evolution of the selfless impermanent body and mind, or the selfless impermanent life existence towards certain direction.

The cause (action) in this present moment now, that will give rise to effect (fruit of action), is determined by the constant conscious choice making in this present moment now. The past cannot be undone (the seed is fixed) and it influences the present in certain way, but the impermanent changes/evolution in the present can be influenced by the conscious choice making and action in this present moment now (the fruit is what it is, that it doesn't change into another different type of fruit, but the impermanent condition of the fruit is conditional, or not fixed).

The constant choice making in the present moment now, is influenced by the presence or absence of ignorance and its by-products.

Ignorance and its by-products can be present or absent. It can be manifested/formed/existing (non-self, not by conscious choice of the selfless thinking and acting mind), empowered and sustained (by the selfless thinking and acting mind, keeps feeding ignorance out of ignorant choices and actions consciously and unconsciously), or it can be weakened and thinned-out (by the selfless thinking and acting mind, stops feeding ignorance under conscious choices and actions), and be annihilated at its own pace (non-self, upon the absence of elements that give rise to ignorance). Just as a fire dies out itself eventually upon the absence of the elements that give rise to fire.

The selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function (mechanism) of the selfless body and the selfless thinking and acting mind is depending on the availability of the selfless support of the selfless intentionless attributeless energy and/or the elements of air/water/nutrients/minerals to be existing and functioning, where the condition of the body (low energy or high energy, and etc) and the selfless impermanent states of the mind (calmed or agitated, and etc) is influenced by the level of energy and the types of influential elements (the fuel and the physical/mental inputs/activities of the body and mind), which can be navigated or influenced by the conscious choice making and action in the present moment now.

The type of food/fuel consumption and the type of physical/mental/emotional inputs and activities is influencing the condition of the body and the states of the mind, but the selfless thinking and acting mind has the conscious choice making of choosing what type of food/fuel consumption that it takes or doesn't take, and choose what type of physical/mental/emotional inputs and activities that it wants or doesn't want to be engaging with.

Poison is just what it is, neither good nor bad, but it can give rise to certain harmful effect. Having the conscious awareness and knowledge or direct experience towards the harmful effect of the poison, one has the conscious choice making of whether to consume it or to stay away from it, unless one is ignorantly consuming the poison unintentionally, or it is being forced feed the poison by some others either randomly or deliberately under the influence of ignorance.

x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

How the selfless thinking and acting faculty of the selfless body wants to live and make use of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence, is at its own choice. The mind that strongly thinks and believes that, "There is no freewill of choice making, that all and everything are destined to be in certain way by the existing cause and effect, and whatever happens it is not my responsibility," is due to ignorance towards Selflessness and Non-self and cause and effect, but also due to the fear of taking the responsibility towards making the wrong choice that lead to worse, unpleasant, painful, and undesirable consequences, which that itself is also one of the by-products of ignorance.

The mind thinks and believes that, "I would like to live life and behave in my own way, but, my parents and my community want me to live life and behave in their way that is not what I want. I don't want to upset them. I should live life and behave according to the wish of my parents and my community." That is its own choice. Or, "I have no choice but I am 'being threatened and forced' to live life and behave in the way according to the wish of my parents and my community because I do not want to undergo painful punishment being punished by them if I don't live life and behave in the way that they want me to live life and behave." That is also its own choice.

The parents and/or the community that will inflict any kind of painful punishment unto those who don't comply to their wish/desire/command/expectation/control/authorization, are mentally sick, functioning under the influence of ignorance and its by-products. The parents and the community that are not mentally sick, that truly love others whom they love very much, will not inflict painful punishment unto those whom they love upon non-complying to their wish or desire, as there is absence of command/expectation/control/authorization in those who are mentally healthy, and who truly love others, where they will love others as they are, and they will not hurt themselves and others.

If someone will hurt some others physically/mentally/emotionally, either directly or indirectly, out of ungratified desires/dissatisfaction/disappointment/humiliation/anger/jealousy/resentment/bitterness/lust/possessiveness/annoyance/disturbed state of mind, while telling them, "I love you very much. I am doing this to you is for your own good. I want you to be good. Don't make me hurt you. I don't want to hurt you. So, please be good. Just listen and obey to my command. Please do as I wish and desire. Or else, I have no choice but to punish/hurt you. I don't want to hurt you, but it's you that made me hurt you." That is seriously mentally very sick. How many minds are thinking and behaving like that in this world of ignorance? Plenty. In family, in relationships, in community, in schools, in work place. Including some, or even many of those who have high level of power that can make crucial decisions and perform actions that impact the physical and mental well being of all and everyone and the surrounding environment in this world that doesn't belong to anyone and anything.

Just as many kinds of physical sickness, mentally sick or the corrupted mind thinking and behavior pattern functioning under the influence of ignorance and its by-products, is not something terrible, bad, wrong, or humiliating, although one can be constantly hurting oneself and others and the surrounding environment out of ignorance, and more importantly, one can do something about it, to be free from ignorance and its by-products, all by oneself, via one's effort and determination, before it becomes too difficult to do anything about it.

x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

The states of mind is selfless and impermanent, constantly changing. It can be calmed or agitated. It can be positive or negative. It can be happy or unhappy. It can be active/hard-working or idle/lazy. But the selfless thinking and acting faculty that is aware of the selfless impermanent states of mind under the presence of the selfless conscious awareness can be consciously aware of the selfless impermanent changes of the states of mind without egoistic association, attachment, identification, judgment, or expectation towards the selfless impermanent states of mind, as well as can be influencing and modifying, purifying and silencing the states of mind under certain conscious choice making and action.

The selfless conscious awareness that comes from the selfless universal consciousness, that enables the selfless thinking and acting faculty of the selfless body to be functioning as what it is, to be conscious, to be aware, to perceive, to know, to experience, to learn, to reflect, to inquire, to reason, to understand, to remember, to think, to feel, to desire, and to act/react consciously and unconsciously, is unaffected, undetermined, undisturbed, unchanged, uncontaminated, unhurt, or undamaged by the objects of awareness, or the selfless impermanent limited and conditional names and forms, of the perceiver and the perceived, or the senses and the objects of the senses, or the thinker and the thinking, or the knower and the knowledge, or the experiencer and the experiences. All these names and forms are merely some non-conscious names and forms, or they don't function as what they are, if without the selfless conscious awareness coming from the selfless universal consciousness.

If there is no consciousness or conscious awareness in anything, even if there is the selfless manifestation of all kinds of names and forms (non-conscious living organisms and non-living objects, where there is only unconscious evolution and absolutely no conscious evolution) in this space of the universe under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, then what is the world and worldly life existence?

What is cognition, intellect, emotion, thinking, knowledge, experience, understanding, and desire?

What is ignorance, the ego/the idea of 'I', egoism of attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, judgment, comparison, and expectation?

What is 'I', 'my', and 'mine'?

What is father, mother, brother, sister, friend, community, country, nationality, authority and authorization, oppression and control, rules and regulations, legality and illegality, prosecution and punishment?

What is culture, belief, values, or practice?

What is good or bad, right or wrong, kind or unkind, positive or negative, meaningfulness or meaninglessness, joyfulness or joylessness, superiority or inferiority, pride or shame, selfishness or unselfishness, happiness or unhappiness, appropriateness or inappropriateness, praise or criticism?

What is purity or impurity, strength or weakness, beautiful or ugly, ordinary or extra ordinary, standard or non-standard, acceptable or non-acceptable, deserving or non-deserving, wholesome or unwholesome, constructive or destructive, progression or regression, civilized or uncivilized, cultured or uncultured?

What is easiness or difficulty, painful suffering or pleasurable enjoyment?

What is possessiveness, ownership, discrimination, separateness, exploitation, cruelty, violence, argument, fighting, or wars?

What is dissatisfaction, disappointment, anger, hatred, jealousy, hurt, resentment, bitterness, greed, offensiveness, defensiveness, fear and worry?

What is truthfulness and untruthfulness, lies and betrayal?

What is limitation and disability?

What is permanence/infinite and impermanence/finite?

What is freedom and peace, or the absence of freedom and peace? What is the yearning towards freedom and peace? What is doubt, inquiry, and realization?

What is the presence and/or absence of freewill?

What is actions and consequences of actions?

What is existence and ceased existence, or momentary finite existence and permanent infinite existence?

What is conscious evolution?

x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

Selflessness in all kinds of living organisms (and non-living objects), where there is no existence of a permanent independent infinite self existence/identity of 'I' existing in all and everything to be experiencing life existence and undergoing selfless impermanent changes or evolution that are non-self, governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, and depending on the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements to be existing and functioning, it doesn't mean that there is only unconscious physical and mental activities (absence of conscious freewill/choice/action/desire), or there is no selfless conscious awareness for each selfless mind to be perceiving, knowing, processing, understanding, learning, thinking, feeling, desiring, acting, reacting, and evolving consciously and individually in certain way or not in certain way (presence of conscious freewill/choice/action/desire), that can also influence the unconscious evolution.

Regardless of the presence or absence of ignorance and its by-products in the modification of the mind, regardless of the different pleasant or unpleasant states of the mind, the selfless universal consciousness that gives rise to the selfless conscious awareness, is still what it is. There might be impermanent different elements/qualities of goodness or evilness arising, changing, and passing away in the modification of the mind that influence the personality, the thinking, the feelings and emotions, the desires, and the behavior/action/reaction of the mind, but the selfless universal consciousness that gives rise to the selfless conscious awareness for the selfless thinking and acting faculty to be conscious/aware of the arising, changing, and passing away (the impermanent manifestation) of all kinds of impermanent qualities/elements of goodness and evilness in the modification of the mind, is unaffected, undetermined, uncontaminated, unhurt, or undamaged by all that.

There might be good or bad personalities/qualities/elements/traits/ideas/desires/behavior, there might be good mood or bad mood/happy or unhappy feelings, there might be kindness or cruelty, there might be selfishness or unselfishness, there might be wisdom (correct understanding) or ignorance (corrupted understanding), and so on, in the many different minds, but the selfless conscious awareness that enables the mind to be conscious/aware of all that, is neither good nor bad, neither happy nor unhappy, neither kind nor cruel, neither selfish nor unselfish, neither wise nor ignorant, and so on.

Regardless of whether the selfless mind is in the state of awake, semi awake/sleep, asleep, dreaming, or deep sleep, regardless of whether the selfless mind is fully conscious/aware, or semi-conscious/aware, or unconscious/unaware, being fully/partially connected to or disconnected from the selfless conscious awareness, the selfless universal consciousness is still there as it is, neither appear nor disappear, neither increase nor decrease.

The personality and/or the mind thinking and behavior pattern of the selfless mind is the reflection of the modification/states of the mind, and vice versa. Everyone has different states of mind, or different personality and mind thinking and behavior pattern, and has different personal experiences as well as different collective group experiences. The modification/states of the mind is ceaselessly changing, significantly or insignificantly. People's personality/thinking/desire/feelings/emotions/behavior/action/reaction are ceaselessly changing, significantly or insignificantly. The personal experiences and collective group experiences are ceaselessly changing, significantly or insignificantly. But, the selfless universal consciousness that gives rise to the selfless conscious awareness in all and every different minds that come under each of their own particular different personalities, different mind thinking and behavior pattern, different personal and collective group experiences, and different modification/states of mind, regardless of low or high energy level, and regardless of being influenced by what type of food consumption (fuel)/elements/qualities/inputs/activities, is the same, and unchanged.

The selfless existence and function of the selfless body and mind is limited, conditional, impermanent, and momentary. But, the selfless attributeless nameless formless timeless changeless thoughtless intentionless actionless universal consciousness (the selfless silent witness) that gives rise to the selfless intentionless attributeless conscious awareness in the countless different selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting minds of the many different personalities/traits/characteristics/thinking/desires/behaviors/actions/reactions/experiences, is unlimited, unconditional, permanent, and infinite. It is neither 'I', nor 'you', nor, 'us', nor 'them'. It doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

The 'I', 'you', 'us', and 'them', are merely some momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional adjuncts or mechanisms (names and forms) that inter-dependent on the many different selfless cells/systems/organs/bodily structures/duties/responsibilities and etc, to be working together selflessly under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, in order to be existing and functioning as what all and everything are. There is neither superiority nor inferiority.

The selfless universal consciousness isn't something that 'contained' in the names and forms, just as the space. Everything manifested under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, where all and everything formed/existing, constantly changing, and passing away in the space, but all that doesn't affect, determine, contaminate, hurt, damage, increase, or decrease the attributeless infinite space.

The selfless universal consciousness 'doesn't control' the selfless impermanent changes in all kinds of selfless names and forms that ceaselessly arise, change, and pass away upon it, and it doesn't initiate conscious and/or unconscious evolution of the living beings/organisms to be or not to be in certain way. It doesn't give rise to the survival instinct in all kinds of living beings/organisms for life maintenance, or the presence and/or absence of ignorance/the idea of 'I'/egoism/impurities/restlessness in the minds. It doesn't create or responsible for the existence and ceased existence of all kinds of names and forms, or the different personalities, qualities, traits, conditions, mind thinking and behavior patterns, desires, actions/reactions, experiences, and the consequences of all that (selfless impermanent limited and conditional conscious and unconscious evolution) in the different selfless thinking and acting minds.

It is coming from each and every single thinking and acting mind itself, having the 'intentionless gift' of the selfless intentionless attributeless actionless changeless conscious awareness coming from the selfless universal consciousness, being conscious/aware, perceiving all kinds of qualities of names and forms consciously and unconsciously, to be experiencing, learning, reasoning, understanding, thinking, feeling, desiring, acting, reacting, and evolving consciously and unconsciously in certain way or not in certain way, influenced by the ceaseless cause or ceaseless conscious and unconscious actions that are being generated by each and every mind themselves.

Unless there is certain deformation, or malfunction, or dysfunction, or damage, or injury in the physical body, especially in the brains and the central and peripheral nervous system (the hardware of the thinking and acting faculty of the physical body that receive and process inputs/information, and give command/signal to the organs of actions for performing actions), where there is absence of conscious awareness, even though there might be some unconscious physical and mental bodily systems/activities ceaselessly happening operated under the selfless intentionless survival instinct, under the presence of the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, then there is completely no freewill of conscious choice making/action performing of the selfless thinking and acting mind to navigate/direct/influence the selfless impermanent changes of the physical body and the conscious evolution of the selfless impermanent modification of the mind or the mind thinking and behavior pattern in certain way or not in certain way.

The selfless universal consciousness/awareness doesn't perform actions.

The selfless impermanent limited and conditional physical body with the conscious thinking and acting mind has the selfless function of performing both conscious by choice (wittingly) and unconscious non by-choice actions (unwittingly) via the organs of action (under the presence of the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements), that are influencing the conscious and unconscious evolution of the existence (duration of existence/life span), condition, and function (mechanism) of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional body and mind in certain way (effect of the cause, of the conscious and unconscious actions after the body and mind is being formed/existing and functioning).

Regardless of the absence or presence of the different degrees of ignorance, regardless of what are the different personalities/qualities/traits/characteristics/conditions/ways of thinking/beliefs/understanding/desires/behaviors/actions/reactions/states of mind, as long as the selfless organs of perception/cognition/intellect/emotion/thinking/acting, the organs of the senses, and the organs of actions are existing and functioning as what they are, as long as one has the basic function or ability of to be conscious/aware, to be consciously perceiving names and forms through the senses, to experience, to know, to learn, to reason, to inquire, to understand, to think, to feel, to desire, to act and react, and to be performing actions via the organs of actions, then there is the freewill of conscious choice making and action performing to navigate/direct/influence the conscious and unconscious evolution in certain way, under the presence of the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements (non-self, not in the control of anyone or anything).

Just as fire exists under a cause (the presence of certain elements that give rise to fire), and it will die off of by itself eventually upon the absence of the elements that give rise to fire (non-self). But one who has the conscious awareness and the organs of actions can perform certain action under the presence of certain knowledge and understanding, that can keep away unnecessary fire as much as possible. And if one is aware of there is the existence of fire that doesn't need to be there, that can damage the surrounding environment, lives, and objects, one can have the conscious awareness/choice/action to do one's best to put out the fire by performing certain actions before the fire becomes uncontrollable and cause serious damages unto the surrounding environment, lives, and objects, where the fruit of action (whether the fire will ceased existing at certain timing, or not, after actions are being performed to put out the fire) is not in the control of the performer of action. The action is being performed out of one's conscious awareness/choice/effort/desire (freewill), but the result/fruit of action is what it is (non-self, not in the control of the performer of action).

One can do one's best to perform actions/practices to be purifying and quieting the restless modification of the mind, out of conscious awareness/choice/action/freewill, diligently and determinedly, but the fruit of action/practice will be there as it is, at its own pace (non-self).

A seed needs to be planted either wittingly or unwittingly, in order to have the existence of a matured plant that gives specific type of fruit of that particular type of seed, and how the seed is being nurtured to become a matured plant that gives fruits, can influence the entire condition of the plant and the fruits to be in certain way. If no seed is being planted, there is no plant or fruit. If the seed is damaged or already dead, it won't grow and turn into a plant no matter how much proper care is being given to it. Or, a healthy seed is being planted, but it is not being nurtured properly to become a healthy matured plant of the best condition that gives fruits of the best taste.

How one wants to live life and behave, and what one wants to do with the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence, it is at one's own conscious choice/freewill (the ceaseless cause in the present moment), while allowing life to be what it is (the effect of cause), evolving at its own pace, under the seeds and nurture (the cause or the conscious and unconscious choice/action in the present moment) that one has been planting and nurturing throughout one's selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence.

Existence is only in NOW. There is only NOW. There is neither past nor future in NOW. While everything in NOW, is ceaselessly changing. Time is merely the reflection of impermanent changes and movements. Day and night and year is merely the ceaseless movements of the earth in itself, and around the sun. Age is merely the impermanent changes of the physical body. Timelessness doesn't mean that history didn't exist, and the effect of the history is still lingering in this world in NOW. It doesn't mean that memories of what have been happening/experiencing don't exist. It doesn't mean that everything and everyone before NOW, didn't and don't exist. But, none can undo or change what had happened. Let it go.

Meanwhile, all and everyone can learn from what have been happening and experiencing, and have the conscious choice to be performing actions in NOW, that would lead to constructive consequences, that would help the world to have more peace and kindness and correct understanding, and less unrest/cruelty/fear/suffering/violence.

Inquire what is the 'I' that the thinking in the mind that thinks and believes and identifies as 'my individual independent self existence', and attain direct self realization towards Selflessness and Impermanence (Timelessness), one will be free from doubts and fear, and all kinds of superstitious beliefs, or the many contaminated corrupted incorrect misinterpreted information about this or that in this worldly life existence of selfless impermanent limited and conditional names and forms.

Do not blind-believe, blind-follow, blind-practice, or blind-propagate anything from anyone and anywhere, including all that is here.

Inquire the truth of everything.

Renunciation. Solitude. Seclusion. Silence. Self-realization.

The genuine observation of complete silence in solitude and seclusion, by renouncing worldly passionate egoistic family/cultural/social/spiritual/national/political/commercial ideas, beliefs, values, affairs, activities, interactions, communications, ties and connections, inputs and outputs, inspirations and aspirations, and all kinds of accumulated physical and mental habits or conditional behavior pattern, for minimum 5 - 6 years, or even longer for certain minds, to free the mind from being conditioned by worldly passionate egoistic ideas/thinking/belief/values/practice/desire/inspiration/aspiration, and etc, will eventually lead the mind towards realizing or seeing the truth of Selflessness and Impermanence, even if without coming in contact with any kind of teachings, teacher, or guru.

Some minds think and believe that they have been observing a high level of solitude and seclusion and renunciation, by living alone with a simple and quiet lifestyle while reducing and refraining from unnecessary social activities and interactions for many years, and spending many hours everyday into performing some kind of yoga and meditation practice, but somehow, they are still in doubt, or are not free from ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, restlessness, impurities, or disturb/hurt/painful sorrow/suffering, as they are still being determined/disturbed/affected/sadden/hurt/offended/intimidated/disappointed by this and that, where there is still something that they couldn't let go, either wittingly or unwittingly, then they can reflect upon themselves -

Did they really observe silence in solitude and seclusion, physically/mentally/emotionally?

Did they really observe solitude, seclusion, silence and renunciation in everyday life, for a continuous prolonged period of time, and it's not just from time to time participating in certain type of yoga retreats, or even participating in silent meditation retreat courses, for a few weeks or a few months, while actively engaging in some kind of community selfless service under certain spiritual or non-spiritual organization, or engaging in occasional or regular casual or formal get together with beloved family and good friends or spiritual/non-spiritual community, that give rise to and empower the sense of togetherness, goodness, positiveness, joyfulness, and meaningfulness?

Did they really renounce all kinds of worldly passionate egoistic family/cultural/social/spiritual/national/political/commercial ideas, beliefs, values, affairs, activities, interactions, communications, ties and connections, inputs and outputs, inspirations and aspirations, and all kinds of self and group identity empowerment, not engaging with family/relatives/friends/pets or spiritual family/community/brotherhood/sisterhood as well as monk and nun community, and abandoning accumulated physical and mental habits or conditional behavior pattern, enjoyments of the senses, self-indulgence/pampering, books, novels, magazines, newspapers, social medias, musics, songs, arts, movies, theater performances, documentaries, talks, chitchats, justification, glorification, admiration, condemn, criticism, fault finding, blame, ill will, sabotage, exploitation, manipulation, interference, the urge to control, self-righteousness, debates, discussions, arguments, festivals, celebrations, sentiments, mourning, grieving, historical remembrance, rituals, offerings, obsessions, addictions, attachments, identifications, comparisons, judgments, expectations, desires, craving, aversion, longing, clinging, lust, wild imaginations, day dreaming, wishful thinking, building castle in the air, superstition, story telling, mystic, miracle, spiritual healing, vision, ambition, heroism, pride, guilt, regret, fear, worry, offensiveness, defensiveness, anger, hatred, resentment, jealousy, bitterness, possessiveness, sense of belonging, greed, discontentment, resolution, bucket list, worldly or spiritual inspiration, aspiration, and ambition, and etc?

Meanwhile, if the mind has already developed and firmly grounded in non-attachment/non-identification/non-craving/non-aversion/non-judgment/non-expectation/non-duality/dispassion/right discrimination/desirelessness/fearlessness/mental and emotional independence,

where it is being undetermined/undisturbed/uninfluenced/non-offended/non-intimidated/unhurt/unmoved by the absence of goodness and the presence of badness, or all kinds of ignorant affairs and behaviors that give rise to all kinds of evitable destruction and suffering in the world,

where it has realized and is resting in unconditional peace,

where it respects the truth of selflessness and impermanence, and the nature's law of cause and effect,

where it has mentally renounced all kinds of personal ties and relationships with family and friends or community, and is free from clinging and longing towards the presence of love, support, interaction, acceptance, agreement, understanding, togetherness, appreciation, recognition, praise and compliment, or acknowledgement among oneself and one's family/friends/community, and others,

where it is free from the sense of belonging and connection, self-esteem, self-worth, accomplishment, success/failure, goodness/badness, appropriateness/disappropriateness, positiveness/negativeness, meaningfulness/meaninglessness, joyfulness/joylessness, togetherness/separateness, superiority/inferiority, deserving/non-deserving, fear, worry, guilt, regret, shame, pride, arrogance, and etc,

where it sees no difference between itself and others, between family/friends and not family/not friends, between 'good' people and 'bad' people, between wise beings and ignorant beings, between happy minds and unhappy minds, and etc, as all and everyone are selfless and impermanent, and all are governed by the nature's law of cause and effect,

where it treats all and everyone the same as 'all beings/objects/names and forms that are selfless and impermanent',

where it can be kind towards all without discrimination, and unconditionally,

and it knows when to say 'yes' and when to say 'no',

as it knows Thyself, or what is 'I', or what is the modification of the mind, or the truth of selflessness and impermanence, or timelessness/non-separateness/namelessness/formlessness/attributelessness/birthlessness/deathlessness, or the annihilation of the restless modifications of the mind, or silence,

then this mind doesn't need to renounce anything, especially if this mind still has certain unfinished worldly duties and responsibilities towards looking after old parents, elders, unwell partner, young children, or physically/mentally disabled dependents, that depending on one's physical/mental/financial care and support, while actively engaging in certain activity for maintaining livelihood, or engaging in selfless service community activities, interactions, and communication with some others, where all these actions are being performed under the absence of the idea of 'I' or the ego, without passionate egoism of worldly and/or spiritual attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, expectation, intention, aspiration, or ambition.

The worldly duties and responsibilities, and all kinds of actions, are not contradicted with or separated from dharma/dhamma/teachings/practice/renunciation/silence/inaction/selfless service, when it is being performed under the absence of the idea of 'I'/the ego, ignorance, and egoism.

Perform intentionless actions, and renounce the fruit of actions, being undetermined by the actions and the fruit of actions.

The essentials for self-inquiry and self-realization

Whatever the mind perceives/experiences/thinks/believes/identifies with, are all merely part of the modifications of the selfless impermanent mind itself.

All forms of 'spiritual/non-spiritual, pure/impure, infinite/finite existence or identity' are nothing but the projections/creations of the selfless impermanent mind itself, during its momentary selfless existence in this space, that (only) exists and functions selflessly and impermanently in NOW, under the selfless support and influence of the selfless energy and elements.

Upon the annihilation of the selfless impermanent modification of the mind/The absence of the idea of 'I' or the ego/The absence of thinking or thought process/Resting in Stillness or Silence, there is no finite or infinite 'I' existing, there is no "I am/I perceive/I experience/I know/I realize/I believe/I think/I see/I hear/I smell/I taste/I feel/I act/I enjoy/I suffer/I give/I receive, and vice versa," there is no whatever 'I' think and believe is "what I (really) am," not to say, "I am the eternal infinite absolute perfect and pure 'this or that'."

There are many "ideas", "beliefs", "values", "practices", "inspirations", "aspirations", "visions", and "various forms of empowerment", created by/deriving from the worldly passionate egoistic minds functioned/functioning under the influence of ignorance and egoism, influencing and conditioning the mind to think and believe and behave in certain way, that hinder the mind from self-inquiry and self-realization.

That's why the observation of dispassion, renunciation, seclusion, solitude, silence, and desirelessness, are highly important for the minds that sincerely want to be free from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, during its momentary selfless existence, to be resting in peace, or to stop hurting itself and others in this space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

The world is what it is

The selfless impermanent world is existing, and it is called 'the world', because it is what all and everything are. They are non-separated.

There is no world if there isn't any kind of selfless impermanent worldly existence of names and forms being existing here in this space that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

Apart from the inevitable selfless impermanent changes due to the inevitable natural decaying process that exists along with all kinds of selfless impermanent names and forms since the beginning of existence, the perceived world is merely what it is (or all and everything are merely being what they are, as they are), it is nothing but the consequences of all kinds of actions/reactions of the selfless minds, where the selfless impermanent changes in the world are indeed influenced and impacted greatly by the sum actions/reactions of the selfless minds that had been, and are occupying this space of the universe that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

Some minds justify that survival instinct (hunger and thirst) is the reason why there are so many selfishness, greed, discrimination, fear, occupation, fighting, and violence related affairs, events, or suffering existing in this world.

Survival instinct alone, if without the influence of ignorance and egoism, it doesn't cause unnecessary damages (or evitable suffering) to the world that doesn't belong to anyone and anything. The world exists along with all kinds of supportive essential elements for all kinds of existence to be catering the different basic needs of all kinds of names and forms to be existing, maintaining (surviving), and ceased existing. If without the presence of the selfless supportive elements, nothing can exist, there is no world.

Hunger and thirst (lack of energy/energy depletion) -> finding/consuming food and water that doesn't belong to anyone or anything (replenishing energy that doesn't belong to anyone or anything) -> either surviving (energy replenished) or ceased functioning and existing/dying and disintegrating (prolonged and complete energy depletion). Devoid of greed, hoarding, possessiveness, separateness, selfishness, protectiveness, fear, discrimination, or ceaseless and boundless desires for abundant pleasurable enjoyments of the senses beyond basic needs for survival. The earth doesn't belong to anyone. The space, the land, the air, the water, or nature doesn't belong to anyone. There are enough basic needs for all selfless impermanent existence of diverse names and forms to be shared among all and everything that are selfless and impermanent.

It's the presence of ignorance and egoism on top of the survival instinct in the minds that had been and are occupying in the world that is selfless and impermanent, that is limited and conditional, that is why there are many unnecessary human made hurtful physical/mental/emotional damages (evitable suffering deriving from ignorance and egoism) being generated by the passionate impure egoistic minds functioning under the influence of ignorance and egoism into the world of many diversities that doesn't belong to anyone or anything.

It's not survival instinct, but it's the presence of ignorance and egoism that gives rise to the non-existing individual and community existence, separateness, fear towards unknown/death/ceased functioning and existing/non-existence/extinction, craving towards the absence of hunger and thirst (pain and unpleasantness), aversion towards the presence of hunger and thirst, clinging towards continuous supply of supportive elements for desirable comfortable enjoyable elongated life existence, hoarding, possessiveness, selfishness, greed, protectiveness, discrimination, personal and group identities, pride, ideas, beliefs, visions, aspirations, ambitions, desires, politics/power of control, ungratified desires of craving (wants) and aversion (don't wants), dissatisfaction, disappointment, frustration, irritation, anger, hatred, defensiveness, offensiveness, humiliation, retaliation, intimidation, fighting, invasion, occupation, violence, and so on.

Inquire the truth of everything. Attain self-realization towards selflessness and impermanence, and be free.

One will stop generating hurtful action/reaction unto oneself and others, or the world of many diversities in this space of the universe that doesn't belong to anyone and anything.

This (non-violence) is nothing to do with the passionate possessive impure egoistic limited and conditional loving kindness/sympathy/empathy/protectiveness under the influence of ignorance and egoism, where all and everyone are fighting against/hurting one another trying to possess and protect what they think and believe is them and theirs, that they love very much, while all and everyone are indeed hurting all and everything that they think and believe that they love very much, that they think and believe are them and theirs.

None can remove the ignorance and egoism in others for others, but only by the mind itself, alone.

The mind that knows, the mind that is devoid of ignorance and egoism, the mind that is devoid of attachment and identification/possessiveness and protectiveness/craving and aversion/fear and greed/anger and hatred/separateness and discrimination/desires and visions/intention and expectation, the mind that lets go and unattached towards all and everything, the mind that respects cause and effect, nature, or selfless impermanent changes/decaying process, the mind that is resting in silence, is free.

Truthfulness

If all kinds of random impure egoistic thought activities in all the minds in this world are being exposed as they are, one will see that there's very little or even no truthfulness in all kinds of worldly ties and connections, social relationships and interactions, worldly affairs, dealings, and activities, except in silence, devoid of selfless restless modification of the mind, or when the mind is free from the idea of 'I', ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

Truthfulness is just what it is. Neither good nor bad. Neither hurtful nor non-hurtful.

Similarly, what is going on in the mind, of all kinds of random impure restless thought activities/desires/actions/reactions/feelings/emotions/ideas/impurities/wild imaginations/subjective partial incomplete distorted memories of the past, is also neither good nor bad, neither hurtful nor non-hurtful.

However, truthfulness appears to be something hurtful, disturbing, unpleasant, inappropriate, or something contributes to disharmony among all and everyone, when the mind is under the influence of the idea of 'I', ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness, where all kinds of worldly ties, connections, and relationships cannot survive, or wouldn't be peaceful and harmonious, under the presence of truthfulness of what is going on in all minds that are functioning under the influence of the idea of 'I', ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

As all kinds of impure egoistic ties, connections, and relationships in the world of ignorance and egoism are largely existing or surviving on the absence of truthfulness, or the presence of untruthfulness, of hypocrisy, secrets, made up stories, fairy tales, manipulations, or lies, powered by survival instinct, possessiveness, selfishness, desire, greed, pride, and fear.

Only the minds that understand what is going on in themselves, that are free from ignorance, that are not being determined or disturbed by all kinds of mind perceptions or experiences that are pleasant or unpleasant, agreeable or disagreeable, and desirable or undesirable, can accept all minds as they are, being truthful or untruthful, without attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, judgment, and expectation, and thus, can be in peace and harmony while engaging in worldly ties, connections, and relationships with other minds, regardless of whether under the presence or absence of truthfulness or untruthfulness in all kinds of human's interaction and affair. It doesn't matter.

Minds that don't understand what is going in themselves, that are under the influence of ignorance, would be determined or disturbed by all kinds of mind perceptions or experiences, where they cannot accept all minds as they are, under the influence of attachment, identification, desire of craving and aversion, judgment, and expectation, and would be peaceless or disharmonious while engaging in any kind of worldly ties, connections, and relationships with other minds, regardless of whether under the presence or absence of truthfulness or untruthfulness. The mind will be disturbed or hurt by either truthfulness, or untruthfulness, that it doesn't like, doesn't desire and doesn't agree with.

While truthfulness, or untruthfulness, as well as what is going on in the mind, is just what it is. It doesn't disturb or hurt anyone, or doesn't contribute to disharmony among all and everyone, when the mind is devoid of the idea of 'I', ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness.

All kinds of yoga and meditation practice served the purpose of eradicating the idea of 'I', ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness from the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind that is selfless and impermanent, that enabling the mind to know or understand what is going on in itself, or knowing Thyself, and hence, be free from ignorance and the ignorant thinking/understanding/behavior/action and reaction that hurt oneself and/or others and the surrounding environment.

Imperfection and all kinds of impurities in the minds are nothing wrong. It is neither good nor bad. It is merely what all impure egoistic minds are. However, the minds that are under the influence of ignorance and egoism, would be determined and disturbed by the imperfection or impurities in themselves and/or in others.

It's like the truth of this fleshy physical body under the 'beautiful' skin is neither good nor bad. If the physical body of all the flesh, bones, ligaments, tendons, blood vessels, veins, nerves, internal organs, secretions, pus and waste products is being exposed without the protective outer layer of 'beautiful' skin, most minds will perceive the physical body without the skin as something 'disgusting', and react with feeling very disgusted and unpleasant. But the physical body is just what it is.

Inquire the truth of everything.

The belief of good and bad karma

This teaching is for those who want to learn and practice yoga and/or buddhism, and those who think and believe that they are practicing and/or teaching/propagating yoga and/or buddhism.

Under certain worldly passionate egoistic family, cultural, social, spiritual, and/or religious beliefs, ideas, values, and practice, there are minds that believe in good or bad karma, which appeared to be very similar to the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism about the nature's law of cause and effect, or actions and the consequences of actions, but there is a huge difference between 'the selfless nature's law of cause and effect' and 'the passionate egoistic belief of good and bad karma deriving from good/right and bad/wrong conducts/actions/reactions', as what is good or bad, and what is right or wrong, in accordance to the many different worldly passionate egoistic beliefs, ideas, values, and practices, are nothing to do with the selfless nature's law of cause and effect that is merely being what it is, that is non-judgmental and non-discriminate, that is neither good nor bad, neither right nor wrong, neither positive nor negative, neither meaningful nor meaningless, neither joyful nor sorrowful, or neither pleasurable enjoyment nor painful suffering.

The nature's law of cause and effect is merely what things are. It is non-judgmental/non-discriminate and it's not based on the quality of good and bad or right and wrong, being projected and generated by the minds under the influence of ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness. The belief of good and bad karma is not necessarily what things are, and it is judgmental and discriminate, and it's very much based on the quality of good and bad or right and wrong, being projected and generated by the minds under the influence of particular worldly passionate egoistic belief, ideas, values, and practice.

The minds that are practicing yoga and/or buddhism, and have intense yearning towards liberation, and want to attain self-realization to be free from ignorance and suffering, the inquiry or investigation towards the truth of everything, is the fundamental essential practice. Although it's the freedom of all and everyone towards what they want to do and practice, or not.

The yoga and/or buddhism practitioners are never believers or followers, not to say, blind-believers or blind-followers, or blind-practitioners and blind-propagators.

The teachings of yoga, or the dhamma of buddhism, that is all about self-inquiry and self-realization, is neither a belief, nor a practice that promote the generation and accumulation of good karma or avoid the generation and accumulation of bad karma. It's about non-attachment and non-identification towards the actions and the fruit of actions. It's about renouncing the fruit of actions, regardless of what the minds think and believe and judge as 'good and bad', or 'right and wrong', or 'meaningful and meaningless', or 'deserving and non-deserving', or 'pleasurable enjoyment and painful suffering', in accordance to the many different worldly passionate egoistic beliefs, ideas, values, and practices.

The mind that is practicing yoga and/or buddhism is desireless, devoid of craving towards 'good karma' and aversion towards 'bad karma', but all and everyone is responsible for one's actions and the consequences of one's actions, where no other can remove or replace oneself for the effect deriving from the cause that oneself have been generating, and one is not being determined or disturbed by the actions and the fruit of actions being what they are, as they are, regardless of whether they appeared to be pleasant or unpleasant, desirable or undesirable, agreeable or disagreeable, meaningful or meaningless, success or failure, deserving or non-deserving, and enjoyable or non-enjoyable.

The yoga and/or buddhism teachings is about the truth of what things are or truthfulness, by allowing the minds to see, to confront with, and to respect the truth that is not necessarily always pleasant, agreeable, or desirable, and to attain direct realization towards the truth of everything by oneself via an open mind, through self-effort, self-inquiry, and self-realization.

It's never about out of certain possession, identification, affection, concern, fear, or worry towards the world being or not being in certain way in accordance to one's desires and doesn't desires, or agreements and disagreements, or out of selfish intention, desire, vision, and ambition to create a world that one likes and desires, and hence, there are many hypocrisy, untruthfulness, lies, story telling, or fairy tales being generated and propagated, particularly in many things that they don't know, that they don't understand, and that they couldn't explain, to be threatening and conditioning the minds with lots of untruthfulness that gives rise to fear, in order to influence and control the thinking and behavior of the minds to be and not to be in certain way.

The belief of good and bad karma, is being used by the minds to either tempt or threaten other minds to behave or not behaving in certain way. "If you do this, or if you don't do that, you will be rewarded and enjoying. And if you don't do this, or if you do that, you will be punished and suffering." Or it is being used to justify certain things that they can't understand and can't explain, or to justify certain hurtful behavior.

Just as a parent is afraid of the child doesn't behave in the way that it likes and desires, or a leader is afraid of the followers don't behave in the way that it likes and desires, or a teacher is afraid of the students don't behave in the way that it likes and desires, or everyone is afraid of all the others don't behave in the way that each and everyone thinks and believes how everyone should and shouldn't behave. And hence, there are many story telling or fairy tales that are either 'tempting' or 'threatening' the minds to behave and not behaving in certain way.

There are some minds, including the minds that are practicing and/or teaching/propagating yoga and/or buddhism, were/are being conditioned to believe in,

"All and everyone are existing here, experiencing what they are experiencing, is because of their own good and bad karma. Good karma deriving from good and righteous conducts gives rise to pleasurable enjoyment, prosperity, desirable condition, good health, abundance, success, joy, happiness, easiness, or kind treatment, in this present life existence, and will give rise to 'superior reincarnation of a superior next life existence in a superior realm' in the future, and so on, while bad karma deriving from bad and wrongful conducts gives rise to painful suffering, poverty, undesirable condition, ill heath, insufficiency, failure, sorrow, unhappiness, hardship, or ill treatment, in this present life existence, and will give rise to 'inferior reincarnation of an inferior next life existence in an inferior realm', and so on.

All and everyone who had been or were experiencing certain ill treatment, abusive affair, ill heath, bad encountering, painful suffering or difficulties in the past, or are experiencing certain ill treatment, abusive affair, ill heath, bad encountering, painful suffering or difficulties in now, are due to their past accumulation of bad karma either in this present life existence and/or from the many past life existences.

One must receive all kinds of unpleasant conditions, hurtful experiences, corrupted affairs, abusive family ties and relationships, ill treatments, ill heath, painful suffering, or difficulties in silence, in order to 'burn off' the past accumulated bad karma. Where it is 'good' to be suffering as much as possible, while silently 'encouraging' others to behave badly and hurtfully unto oneself, or even coming from oneself generating all kinds of unnecessary damaging effects, difficulties, and inconveniences unto oneself, or punishing/hurting one's own body and mind deliberately under the terms of 'repent' and 'penance', in order to 'burn off' any past accumulated bad karma, that seemingly bottomless.

Meanwhile, in order to avoid any kind of painful suffering or difficulties manifesting in oneself (personal karma) and/or in the collective surrounding environment shared by many others (collective group karma), one needs to be on high alert and be judgmental towards one's and/or others' thinking and conduct, where one and/or others should only generate good karma and avoid generate any bad karma, based on the worldly passionate egoistic family, cultural, social, spiritual, religious, national, political or commercial beliefs, ideas, values, and practices about what is good and bad, what is right and wrong, what is positive and negative, what is appropriate and inappropriate, what is meaningful and meaningless, what is success and failure, what is prosperity and non-prosperity, or what is should and shouldn't.

If someone thinks and believes that itself has been good and kind, and has been performing many good and kind actions, and never did anything bad or wrong in this life existence, but somehow, it is still encountering many badness, undesirable experiences, hurtful affairs, ill treatments, difficulties, or painful suffering, then that is due to the past accumulated bad karma from the previous life existence."

That is everyone's freedom of thinking and belief, reason and understanding, action and reaction.

Inquire towards all these thinking and belief, ideas and values, and practice. These are nothing to do with the teachings and practice of yoga and/or buddhism.

The difference between 'the nature's law of cause and effect' and 'the belief of good and bad karma' -

Under the nature's law of cause and effect -

If apple seed is planted, it will grow into an apple tree, and not a mango tree or a banana tree.

If mango seed is planted, it will grow into a mango tree, and not an apple tree or a banana tree.

And so on.

Does that mean apple is good and mango is bad, or vice versa? Neither.

As simple as that.

Meanwhile, under the belief of good and bad karma -

If one does bad, there is bad karma, and one will be suffering badness. If one does good, there is good karma, and one will be enjoying goodness. What is good and bad, what is goodness and badness, and what is enjoyment and suffering, can be very different under different beliefs, ideas, values, and practices.

Regardless of what or who the mind thinks and identifies as 'I', and whether the mind thinks and believes that it has been good or bad, kind or unkind, selfish or unselfish, healthy or unhealthy, educated or uneducated, knowledgeable or non-knowledgeable, or have been accumulating lots of so called good karma or bad karma, and so on, all and everyone are under going the inevitable process of selfless impermanent changes, of growth, ceased growing, ceaseless maintenance, decay, aging, weakness, illness, ceased functioning, and disintegration/death. This natural process of selfless impermanent changes can be very unpleasant and painful physically and mentally. Does that mean selfless impermanent changes is something related to bad karma?

Selfless impermanent changes is just what all and everything are. It is neither good nor bad, neither positive nor negative, neither meaningful nor meaningless.

If the mind is free from ignorance and egoism, the mind respects the selfless impermanent changes as they are, devoid of craving and aversion towards the body and mind, or towards all kinds of names and forms, experiences, interactions, ties and relationships, affairs, conditions and situations, to be or not to be in certain way, and hence, there is no suffering arise in this mind.

If the mind is under the influence of ignorance and egoism, where the mind has desires of craving and aversion towards the physical and mental condition, ability, performance, and achievement, and towards all kinds of names and forms, experiences, interactions, ties and relationships, affairs, conditions and situations, to be and not to be in certain way, and when the desire of craving and aversion is ungratified, or when the body and mind and something that it perceives and experiences, is not being the way that the mind likes, desires, and agrees with, there is suffering arise in this mind.

It's about one takes responsibility towards one's action and inaction under the influence of one's desires and doesn't desires, likes and dislikes, agreements and disagreements, or understanding and non-understanding, as well as be responsible towards the consequences of that, without self-blame or blame others.

"I believe or disbelieve in this belief," or "I want or do not want to let go this belief," or "I want or do not want to have this relationship," or "I want or don't want to do this," or "I want to be here and live here," or "I want to go and live somewhere else," or "I want to eat here and this," or "I don't want to eat there and that," and so on. It's one's own choice and decision. And no matter the outcome of one's choice and decision and action/inaction is pleasant or unpleasant, desirable or undesirable, and agreeable or disagreeable, one either accepts or doesn't accept, or either be determined or undetermined by all that, it's one's own choice and responsibility.

Even if someone else is making all the choices and decisions for oneself, it is oneself who allows or disallows that to be happening, to accept or reject, and to go along with or not going along with all those choices and decisions made by others. That's why it's one's own responsibility towards all kinds of pleasant or unpleasant experiences, regardless of whether it's one's own choices and decisions, or it's others' choices and decisions.

How common that the mind says, "I am unselfish. I love you very much. I don't do anything for myself. I am doing everything for you, according to what you want and don't want. Because, I want you to be happy. I don't want you to be unhappy. I don't want you to get upset and be angry with me. I want you to love me. I don't want you to dislike me. I am doing all these for you." Nope. The mind is not even aware of itself is being so selfish. Everything is being done in accordance to 'what I want and what I don't want'.

Similarly, regardless of whether under the presence and absence of ignorance and egoism, and whether there is suffering arise in the mind, or not, upon coming in contact with certain names and forms/experiences/conditions/situations/affairs/happenings/ties and relationships that are unpleasant, disagreeable, undesirable, non-enjoyable, hurtful, disturbing, or painful, that are deriving from ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, that are evitable, it is nothing to do with good or bad karma.

The minds that are free from ignorance and egoism, naturally, if they want, they know how to avoid coming in contact with and/or move away from the minds, beings, objects, interactions, dealings, affairs, happenings, areas, conditions, or situations, that are under the influence of ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, as much as possible, to minimize unnecessary damages or energy/life wasting. If it is not possible to avoid coming in contact with or move away from such ignorance, they deal with all that in peace.

Those who are happened to be existing or living in an area that is having all kinds of ignorant affairs, violent and hurtful happenings, or unnecessary evitable damages and painful suffering, that affect all and everyone not only in that area, but also affecting the entire world in certain way, regardless of whether they have been doing something good or bad, right or wrong, and whether they are selfish or unselfish, kind or unkind, it is not because of their bad karma, it's mainly because of the ignorance and the consequences of ignorance, of certain minds that are ignorant, prideful, ambitious, greedy, possessive, selfish, discriminating, hating and violent in this present moment.

The mind will understand all these, knowing what is true or untrue, if it performs inquiry towards "What is time?" / "What is 'I'?" / "What is the thinking mind?" / "What is the modification of the mind?" / "What is past and future?" / "What is selflessness?" / "What is impermanence?" / "What is suffering?" / "What is cause and effect?" /"What is liberation?" under an open mind not being influenced by any particular worldly passionate egoistic beliefs, ideas, values, and practice, and attains direct self-realization towards timelessness, or there's neither past nor future, there is only NOW, and it's changing, or selflessness and impermanence, or knowing Thyself.

Knowledge and intelligence and wisdom are irrelevant to one another

The mind doesn't need to be highly intelligent in order to be accumulating and memorizing knowledge or information about this and that.

Being highly intelligent doesn't necessarily means that the mind is wise, devoid of ignorance, or is peaceful, devoid of suffering.

Being more intelligent than the other minds doesn't necessarily means that the mind must be more knowledgeable than the other minds that are less intelligent than this mind, and vice versa.

Although the mind can be highly intelligent as well as has been accumulating and memorizing vast knowledge or information about this and that.

The amount of accumulated knowledge in the mind as well as the different degrees of intelligence doesn't determine that whether the mind is wise/devoid of ignorance, or not, or whether the mind is peaceful/devoid of suffering, or not.

The mind that is functioning under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness, that is devoid of wisdom and peace, might be utilizing the accumulated knowledge or information about this and that, under the presence of certain degrees of intelligence, specific talent, and specific skill, to be generating certain impure thoughts, ideas, desires, and aspirations, that externalized and materialized into certain damaging destructive behaviors, actions, and reactions, and the consequences of all that, into the world, unto oneself and/or others and the surrounding environment, either wittingly or unwittingly.

Most minds growing up being conditioned by the worldly passionate egoistic belief, values, and practice about all and everyone need to be developing, achieving, possessing, and accumulating certain qualities of names and forms that all and everyone would agree with and feel proud of, as well as devoid of certain qualities of names and forms that all and everyone would disagree with and feel ashamed of, in order to attain acknowledgement, recognition, acceptance, agreement, validation, respect, and glorification not just from oneself, but especially from others or the world, in order to feel good, righteous, virtuous, meritorious, positive, confident, deserving, proud, happy, joyful, successful, accomplished, or meaningful about oneself and life existence. That is everyone's freedom of thinking and belief.

The minds that are free from such ignorance and egoism, there is no need to be acknowledged and be proud of towards anything.

The mind that doesn't need to be receiving acknowledgement, recognition, acceptance, agreement, validation, respect, or glorification from oneself and others or the world, that doesn't need to be proud of by oneself and others towards something that most minds think and believe and recognize as pride deserving, and that doesn't need to be receiving understanding, sympathy, and empathy towards something that most minds think and believe and recognize as sympathy and empathy deserving, is a free mind.

The mind that can be by oneself in silence/solitude/seclusion for a prolonged period of time without any family/friends/social contacts, communications, activities, and interactions, for at least 5 years or more, and without the sense of loneliness, meaninglessness, joylessness, left-out, failure, shame, badness, negativeness, or wrongfulness, is a free mind.

The mind that is not being determined or disturbed by the mind perception of names and forms, of the presence and absence of certain pleasant and unpleasant/desirable and undesirable/agreeable and disagreeable sights, sounds, smells, tastes, sensations, thoughts, feelings, emotions, experiences, family ties, connections, relationships, interactions, affairs, conditions, and situations, is a free mind.

The mind that doesn't need to feel good, righteous, virtuous, meritorious, positive, confident, deserving, proud, happy, joyful, successful, accomplished, or meaningful about oneself and/or life existence, that is resting in unconditional peace as it is, is a free mind.

Such mind can be busy doing something or not doing anything, and still be peaceful as it is, regardless of all kinds of selfless impermanent changes in the selfless limited and conditional existence and function of the body and mind, regardless of the evitable condition and situation in the world that is mostly the consequences of the actions generated by the many minds functioning under the influence of ignorance, egoism, impurities, and restlessness (suffering/devoid of peace), and regardless of the inevitable process of decay and disintegration in all kinds of names and forms that is ceaselessly happening under the truth of selflessness and impermanence.

It's okay if the mind is not highly intelligent, or knowledgeable. It's also okay if the mind is not wise and not peaceful, in this present moment now. More importantly is that, the mind is not being over-powered by the impermanent condition and state of the mind to be hurting oneself and/or others, and without attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation towards all that, while having the understanding that, even this will change, and pass away.

More importantly, one must inquire towards the truth of all the existing knowledge or information about this and that in the mind, coming from from anyone and anywhere, including all the teachings of yoga and/or buddhism, coming from any yoga teachers, or Gurus, or yogis.

Inquire the truth of everything.

Renunciation and the world of passionate egoism and desire

The liberated selfless mind that has renounced all kinds of worldly passionate egoistic ideas, identities, ties and connections, beliefs, desires, values, and practices, that is devoid of attachment or identification, craving or aversion towards all kinds of names and forms, identities, ties and connections, ideas, beliefs, values, practices, activities, desires, accomplishments, and achievements, it doesn't need to be performing, engaging, or participating in any kind of daily/weekly/monthly/yearly practices/activities/events/celebrations/rituals based on certain cultural/family/social/spiritual/religious/national/commercial belief, values, and practices, where all kinds of regular practices/activities/events/celebrations/rituals are existing for developing, maintaining, and empowering the attachment and identification of the minds towards such belief, values, and practices, in order for such belief, values, and practices to be continuously sustaining and expanding in this world. There is no sense of wrongfulness, badness, negativeness, inauspiciousness, guilt, regret, left-out, aloneness, disrespectfulness, unfaithfulness, joylessness, failure, purposelessness, or meaninglessness, arising or existing in such mind for non-engaging in such practices or activities.

The passionate egoistic minds that are not free from attachment and identification, craving and aversion, and passion towards certain names and forms, identities, ties and connections, ideas, beliefs, values, practices, activities, desires, accomplishments and achievements, would be disturbed by the sense of wrongfulness, badness, negativeness, inauspiciousness, guilt, regret, left-out, aloneness, disrespectfulness, unfaithfulness, joylessness, failure, purposelessness, or meaninglessness, for non-engaging in such practices or activities, as the minds have been being influenced and conditioned and limited to think in certain way, to believe in certain belief, to have certain identities, qualities, and desires (aspirations), to have pride or shame towards certain identities, qualities, and desires (aspirations), and to carryout and empower certain values and practices.

It's not that the different kinds of practices/activities/events/celebrations/rituals based on certain cultural/family/social/spiritual/religious/national/commercial belief and values are anything wrong, or bad, or negative, where most minds that are functioning under the veil of ignorance and egoism, that are not free from the perception of suffering/disturbed/hurt/painful sorrow/unhappiness/meaninglessness and etc, would think and believe that they need all that in order to be existing and living, that they need to be developing, possessing, and empowering the sense of belonging, self-esteem, self-worth, pride, loyalty, righteousness, goodness, positiveness, auspiciousness, togetherness, respectfulness, joyfulness, accomplishment, purposefulness, or meaningfulness, as well as the personal/family/community identity, the existence of the culture/the belief/the values/the spirituality/the religion/the country, the financial status, the social status, or the economy of the individual/the family/the community/the country/the region/the world, are purely surviving on the existence of such regular practices/activities/events/celebrations/rituals based on certain cultural/family/social/spiritual/religious/national/commercial belief and values, however, upon the annihilation of ignorance and egoism, the mind is no longer being conditioned by such thinking, belief, ideas, desires, values, and practices, where the mind realizes and understands that the selfless impermanent life existence, or the world, doesn't need any of that, but only need to be free from ignorance and the by-products and consequences of ignorance.

That is liberation.

Yoga is universal

Regardless of whatever the different minds want it to be, yoga is universal.

Yoga is beyond spirituality and non-spirituality. It is neither spiritual nor non-spiritual. There's neither "I am spiritual" nor "I am non-spiritual."

The minds that are sentimental or believing in spirituality, then yoga can appear to be something sentimental or spiritual for them.

The minds that are non-sentimental or non-believing in spirituality, then yoga can appear to be something non-sentimental or non-spiritual for them.

As regardless of whatever is happening within the modification of the mind, whether the mind believes or disbelieves in spirituality, whether the mind is sentimental or non-sentimental, whether ignorance is present or absent in the mind, whether the mind is intellectual or non-intellectual, whether the mind is pure or impure, or whether the mind is peaceful or non-peaceful, yoga is beyond the limited conditional selfless modification of the mind, or the different states of the mind.

Yoga of selflessness, oneness, non-separateness, or the selfless universal consciousness, is beyond the selfless impermanent existence and function of all minds, and/or beyond the mind perception of all the different impermanent qualities of selfless names and forms.

All kinds of yoga practice that served the purpose of disciplining, calming, purifying, and quieting the modification of the mind, to eradicate the idea of 'I' and egoism, is to prepare the mind for meditation, and to perform self-inquiry towards the truth of selflessness and impermanence, to attain self-realization.

Upon the attainment of self-realization, where the mind realized selflessness and absorbed in silence (the annihilation of the modification of the mind), there is neither spiritual nor non-spiritual.

Yoga is merely the selfless reflection reflecting what all and everything are, selfless and impermanent, ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away upon the changeless, timeless, causeless, limitless, nameless, formless, attributeless, actionless, birthless, deathless, beginningless, endless, selfless consciousness, that is uncontaminated or undetermined by any selfless impermanent quality, or duality, or name and form.

All minds can attain self-realization via self-initiative, self-purification, self-determination, self-independence, self-discipline, self-effort, and self-inquiry, except the minds that are expecting and waiting for an enlightened being or Guru to give them 'miracle touch' or 'mystical healing', and/or even give them enlightenment or liberation, and that's their freedom of thinking and desire.

All kinds of external teachings and teachers/gurus are merely providing some guidance to the minds for them to reflect upon, or showing the path/direction that leads the mind onto the practice, but the only teacher/guru that can free the mind from ignorance, is the mind itself. No any other teachers, or gurus, or liberated minds, can remove the ignorance in any minds, but the mind itself, alone.

The idea, or the notion, or the thinking, or the understanding, or the identification of, "I have a Guru," or "I don't have a guru," or "I am a yogi," or "I have been practicing yoga for how many years," or "I am a qualified and certified yoga teacher," or "I am advanced and highly experienced yogi/yoga teacher," or "I am an enlightened yogi/yoga Guru," or "I am a master trainer of yoga teachers," or "I am the founder/member of a yoga organization," or "Yoga came from and belongs to particular religion, country, place, community, organization, authority, and etc," doesn't mean anything. All these are merely indicating that the mind is still functioning under the influence of ignorance, the idea of 'I', and egoism.

The mind is the one and only teacher/guru that teaches and liberates itself, by itself, alone.

Renounce the world of MAYA, of 'I'-ness, 'mine'-ness, ignorance, egoism, passion, admiration, glorification, pride, hypocrisy, untruthfulness, desire, greed, ambitiousness, restlessness, selfishness, possessiveness, discrimination, self-righteousness, blind-believing/following/practicing/propagating/worshiping, superstition, story making/telling, petty-mindedness, jealousy, anger, hatred, fear, power, and violence, is the key to self-realization.

Transcending or going beyond all kinds of so called 'beautiful', 'out of the world', 'amazing', 'magnificent', 'magical', 'mystical', or 'transcendental' mind perception of names and forms, or the play of sights, lights, colours, sounds, smells, tastes, or sensations. None can force or influence another to renounce the world. It's the mind's own self-initiative and determination.

Hypocrisy, untruthfulness, backbiting and backstabbing

This teachings is for those who are interested in learning and practicing yoga and/or buddhism, and to be looking after the mental health of oneself and others. Those who are not interested in the teachings and practice of yoga and/or buddhism, or looking after the mental health of oneself and others, this is not for them.

No doubt that hypocrisy, untruthfulness, backbiting and backstabbing are very common and normal family, cultural and social values and practice that exist in many family ties, siblings, relationships, friendships, or in any kind of social connections, in order to keep those family ties, relationships, friendships and social connections to be continuously 'existing' and 'surviving', and to maintain certain degrees of so called 'peace and harmony' or 'bonding and cooperation' in all those human's family ties and social connections, however, those who truly want to practice yoga and/or buddhism, they need to abandon such common and normal values and practice, of what many minds think and believe as a 'normal', 'healthy', 'successful' and 'meaningful' way of life and conduct.

It's everyone's freedom for what and how they think, believe, practice, behave, act and react, or not. There's neither right nor wrong, and the world of human beings is very much being built on such hypocrisy and untruthfulness, or else all kinds of human ties and connections will not be able to sustain or survive, unless the minds are free from the influence of ignorance, egoism and impurities, where all kinds of human ties and connections are not being built on hypocrisy and untruthfulness, that exist under the absence of hypocrisy, untruthfulness, backbiting and backstabbing.

It's understandable that it can be very hard and challenging for many people to not being hypocrite and untruthful at all, or to be completely straightforward and truthful in all kinds of ties and connections, while at the same time, they might not be free from dislikes, disagreements and offensiveness towards certain or many things, and hence, they would prefer to express their dislikes, disagreements and offensiveness behind people's back, thinking that it won't cause any damaging effects.

Some people would think and believe while telling themselves and others, "Don't be so naive. There's nothing wrong, and it's very good to practice hypocrisy and untruthfulness, if we want to survive in this society, and to maintain certain degrees of 'peace and harmony' among everyone, while getting the cooperation from some others in order to achieve what we want to achieve. If we have any unhappiness, disagreements and complaints about some others, we can express it behind people's back behind closed door. If we want to hurt or attack our enemy, we always do it quietly behind their back. That's the way to become highly successful in this world." That's people's freedom of thinking, belief, desire and behavior, however, it's the opposite of the teachings and practice of yoga and/or buddhism.

That's why the essential teachings and practice of yoga and buddhism emphasized on the observation of renunciation and dispassion, seclusion and solitude, straightforwardness and truthfulness, and the eradication of egoism and impurities of greed, discontentment, dissatisfaction, anger, hatred, jealousy, pride, arrogance, fear, offensiveness, defensiveness, violence, ill thinking and ill will, and etc.

The minds that are mentally and emotionally dependent would be disturbed and hurt by the hypocrisy, untruthfulness, backbiting and backstabbing coming from others, especially coming from their own beloved family members and friends.

The minds that are mentally and emotionally independent are not at all being disturbed or hurt by such ignorant impure behavior of anyone, including one's beloved family members and friends. Not that they are emotionless, but they are aware of how the minds behave, act and react under the influence of ignorance, egoism and impurities. Neither will these minds be offended or intimidated by anything or anyone.

Those who are not interested in learning and practicing yoga and/or buddhism, who are not interested in looking after the mental health of oneself and others, they don't need to observe all these yoga and buddhism teachings and practice, and continuing their 'normal, healthy, successful and meaningful' way of life and conduct, as they are. Be happy.
