All kinds of yoga and meditation practice are merely some tools

The unconscious evolution of the body and mind activated autonomously under the selfless survival instinct (selfless impermanent changes governed by cause and effect to adapt and accommodate the current internal and external condition and situation that is impermanent) is always happening as it is, even without any conscious awareness or conscious action taking from the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting conscious mind to be aware of or activate all those changes in certain way or not in certain way.

However, the conscious evolution of the body and mind is accessible to all minds out of their own limited and conditional conscious freewill under the presence of conscious awareness, to be consciously aware of the current impermanent condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment, to be making conscious decisions under the presence of certain knowledge and understanding, and performing conscious actions to make conscious adjustment and adaptation in accordance to the current condition and situation.

The ceaseless unconscious evolution process that is all time activated autonomously under the intentionless unconscious survival instinct, is merely about maintaining maximal survival of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the mortal physical structure of the living organisms, regardless of the presence or absence of conscious awareness under correct or incorrect understanding towards anything or everything in the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty of the physical structure.

Regardless of whether the conscious mind is aware or unaware of, likes or dislikes, agrees or disagrees with, desires or doesn't desire towards the ceaseless unconscious evolution process of the existence and function of the many different selfless cells/components/organs/systems/mechanisms of the body and mind, the unconscious evolution process (the selfless impermanent unconscious ceaseless changes of the body and mind) is still what it is.

The conscious evolution process that is activated under the conscious desire/yearning/intention/purpose for learning, experiencing, knowing, improving, doubting, and attaining correct understanding (absolute knowledge) towards something or everything - Self inquiry to know Thyself (that is nothing to do with maintaining the maximum survival of the body and mind), to be free from the presence of ignorance (the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness - the egoistic impure restless disturbed dissatisfied violent state of mind/peacelessness/the absence of absolute peace/the evitable mental and emotional suffering) and to transcend the inevitable physical suffering that the mind perceives/experiences due to the inevitable truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self of the momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the body and mind that doesn't even belong to the body and mind itself, and in all kinds of names and forms that the mind perceives through the senses and sense organs, can be non-activated, or activated, or deactivated under the presence or absence and the impermanent changes of the conscious desire/yearning/intention/purpose that is impermanent, limited, and conditional, that will change (intensity and direction), that will increase or decrease, that will be present or absent.

The conscious evolution activated under conscious awareness/freewill/desire/intention/actions/activities is neither good nor bad. It can be constructive or destructive, depending on the current state of mind.

The non-activated conscious evolution process can be activated by the conscious thinking and acting mind under the presence of conscious desire/yearning towards conscious changes heading towards certain direction (constructive - perform conscious physical and/or mental actions/activities that are constructive/beneficial to be improving the condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment, or destructive - perform conscious physical and/or mental actions/activities that are harmful and destructive that would be deteriorating the condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment), as well as the activated conscious evolution process (regardless of constructive or destructive) can be changing direction, or can be completely deactivated (return to non-activation, or the absence of the conscious desire/yearning/action/activity to influence the conscious changes towards any direction, but merely the presence of the ceaseless unconscious evolution process of the body and mind that is always happening until the body and mind ceased functioning and existing.

All kinds of yoga and/or buddhism and meditation practice, or method, or discipline, or observation, are merely some tools that can be utilized by the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind under the presence of conscious awareness/freewill/desire/yearning to attain the correct understanding/the absolute knowledge/the truth of things as it is/the peace/the liberation from doubt and painful suffering, or to know Thyself.

The yoga and meditation practice is not (never) a form of obligated commitment, or duty, or responsibility which certain minds perceived, understood, propagated, and took up the practice in such way.

No doubt that the universal activation of conscious mind evolution to annihilate ignorance and the by-products of ignorance is the highest duty of mankind, but, the many different types of practices or tools that can be used for helping the annihilation of the egoistic impure restless modification of the mind (the veil of ignorance*), are not an obligation, or commitment, or duty, or responsibility.

*The veil of ignorance (The hindrance/murkiness that hinders the mind under the presence of conscious awareness to perceive/see/know/understand things as it is), is not something that exists independently within the modification of the mind. The entire restless egoistic impure modification of the mind or the thought process/activity/current, is indeed the veil of ignorance. It is not about eliminate or remove the veil of ignorance from the modification of the mind. The annihilation of the veil of ignorance, is indeed the annihilation of the restless modification of the mind that is what it is, existing under the ceaseless arising and passing away of the countless idea of 'I' (self acknowledgement/awareness), egoism, and impurities (the restless egoistic impure thought activities, regardless of the positive/happy/calmed/elevated or negative/unhappy/disturbed/depressed state of mind). The annihilation of the idea of 'I', egoism, and impurities is indeed the annihilation of the restless modification of the mind, or the silence/subside of the restless egoistic impure thought process/activity/current.

That is why the degrees of intelligence (intellectual thinking, learning, reasoning, and understanding under the influence of worldly egoistic ideas/beliefs/values/practices) and the total amount of accumulated knowledge/information, understanding, and experience (what the mind knows and doesn't know) or the amount and type of skills and talents (what the body and mind can or cannot do and achieve), is irrelevant to the presence and absence as well as the degrees/thickness of the veil of ignorance (the ceaseless arising and passing away of thought/idea after thought/idea manifesting under different qualities/names and forms).

The action of building a shelter to be having a sheltered space to take rest and to be sheltering from extreme weather, unnecessary disturbance, danger, harm, or life threatening condition, is essential for all living organisms. The many different tools and materials and methods that can help to build a shelter, are subject to the current conditions and situations, availability and possibility (limited and conditioned by time, space, and causation).

Building a shelter needs the help of certain tools and materials and methods that are available. There are many different types of tools and materials and methods to choose from to build a shelter. One doesn't need to use all kinds of tools or materials or methods to build a shelter, although it is possible. One is not committed to specific tools and materials and methods, and be obliged to use only those specific tools and materials and methods to build a shelter. Some time, a shelter can be built under some specific tools and materials and methods, while some time, the specific tools and materials and methods need to be changed to some other tools or materials or methods under different conditions and situations, subject to availability and possibility.

The entire yoga and meditation practice is about letting go or renouncing all kinds of physical/mental/emotional grasping/clinging/attachment/identification, to thin-out/weaken/eliminate the restless egoistic impure modification of the mind, or more precisely, to eliminate the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness (the formation of the veil of ignorance, that hinders the conscious mind to perceive/see/know/understand the perceived names and forms or the objects of awareness as it is).

It is not about developing and empowering a strong commitment/attachment/identification/clinging/connection/relationship/obligation/duty/responsibility towards the yoga and meditation practice under specific or many different names and forms/types/lineages/paths.

Under the presence of such idea/understanding, the mind is being conditioned to think and believe and acknowledge that, "If I do my practice for minimum two or three hours a day, for six days a week, persistently, and if I do this and don't do that, then I am a genuine yogi/buddhist, and I will feel good and meaningful and accomplished about myself and my life existence. Or else, I am not good enough, or I am weak and bad, and that makes me feel bad and meaningless and failing, because I didn't manage to perform my obligated and committed duty and responsibility (the regular daily yoga and meditation practice), I am unable to achieve the goal/mission of the practice, as well as I am unable to do what I should be doing and I am doing what I shouldn't be doing, as a genuine committed practitioner/student of yoga and/or buddhism. I am not a genuine committed yoga and meditation practitioner."

That is moving away from the essence of yoga and meditation - 'liberation', or 'free as it is', upon the absence of grasping. The yoga and meditation practice itself becomes the name and form (the activity) that binds the mind, or gives rise the idea/notion of "lack of freedom", or "I am not free", or "I am sacrificing my worldly affairs, activities, ties and connection, relationship, duty, and responsibility for focusing on my committed personal yoga and meditation practice."

However, if the mind persists in such disciplined rigid fixed-routine practice under fixed timing regularly on daily basis for a prolonged period of time (sort of unwittingly/unintentionally renouncing or moving away from the passionate worldly egoistic life activities and connections, as they won't have much extra energy, time, effort, or attention left for attending and engaging in some other activities, as the intense disciplined physical and mental yoga and meditation practice took up most of the energy, time, effort, and attention), the mind might eventually realize the truth of impermanence, limitation, and conditional, that will also lead to the realization of selflessness, after a prolonged period of intense discipline/commitment towards performing the daily practice on specific timing and under specific way or fixed-routine (autonomous familiarity that is needless of thinking/analyzing/understanding while keeping the awareness/focus at one particular point - quieting the restless modification of the mind effectively), while attaining all kinds of physical and mental benefits from the regular practice (the skill, the stamina, the strength, the flexibility, the ability, the health and fitness status, the state of mind), that are all impermanent, that need ceaseless and endless effort for maintenance, that cannot exist or function without the selfless support of energy and elements, which will eventually give rise to the direct realization or understanding towards this body and mind, the regular physical and mental yoga and meditation practice/activity, and the effects of the practice, or the consequences of the conscious and unconscious physical and mental activities, are all selfless, impermanent, limited, conditional, and non-self.

Even if the mind doesn't realize this upon the end of its momentary existence and function, but at least during its entire life span where it spent most of its selfless impermanent momentary existence and function or the energy, time, effort, and attention (the conscious awareness and conscious activities during the state of consciousness/wakefulness) into performing such intense disciplined daily yoga and meditation practice, it didn't have the additional energy, or time, effort, and attention to do anything physically and mentally that would be harming itself and others or the surrounding environment.

That is already serving one of the purpose of performing the yoga and meditation practice - Ahimsa, or Non-violence/Non-harming/Non-interference/Surrendering, by fully focusing the entire energy/life span/effort/attention/existence and function onto performing the yoga and meditation practice, even if it doesn't lead to complete self realization upon the end of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary life existence that doesn't even belong to the body and mind itself.

Meanwhile, the minds that have evolved further, and have certain degrees of correct understanding, even though they have not yet attaining the direct realization towards selflessness (where the mind is still being conditioned by the worldly egoistic cultural/spiritual/religious/ancestral/political/national/commercial idea/belief/values/practice of believing in "the existence of a permanent independent infinite immortal individual self existence/identity/soul/spirit/consciousness" that has been undergoing ceaseless endless rounds of reincarnations under different physical structures transitioning in many different realms determined by the belief of ceaseless boundless accumulated 'good/bad/neutral karma'), but they will know and choose the middle path, by performing the yoga and meditation practice regularly while constantly making adjustment and adaptation in accordance to the current condition, situation, availability, and possibility (devoid of rigidity/fixed timing and fixed routine/the notion of "lack of freedom" or "I am not free").

One can take up the practice, and practice as it is or not as it is, or abandon/forgo/modify the practice in accordance to the current condition and situation, availability and possibility, under any reason or at no reason, but it is not about to gratify the egoistic desires and don't desires under the influence of egoistic likes and dislikes/agreements and disagreements.

Upon the mind knows Thyself, or attained direct realization towards the truth of selflessness and impermanence of the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself, the physical structure, and all kinds of names and forms that it perceives through the senses and sense organs (sights, sounds, smells, tastes, sensations, feelings, emotions, thoughts, ideas, dreams, memories, imaginations, all kinds of living organisms and non-living objects), where the conscious mind transcends the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself, not to say, all kinds of names and forms that the mind perceives/experiences/comes in contact with through the senses (pleasant/unpleasant, agreeable/disagreeable, desirable/undesirable, enjoyable/non-enjoyable or painful names and forms, conditions, situations, affairs, activities, interactions, or connections), the conscious evolution process will drop-off by itself naturally.

There is needless of the presence or activation of conscious mind evolution (engaging in all kinds of yoga and meditation practice) in order to know Thyself, upon the annihilation of the veil of ignorance a.k.a. the absence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness or restless egoistic impure modification of the mind, upon the direct self realization towards knowing Thyself, of knowing the truth of selflessness, impermanence, limitation, conditional, and non-self of this mortal body and mind, and all kinds of names and forms.

Even though the selfless impermanent limited and conditional thinking and acting faculty under the presence of conscious awareness may or may not make use of the available existing energy, conscious awareness, life existence and function of the body and mind, knowledge, experience, talents, skills, opportunities, and possibilities (all are momentary, selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional), in NOW, to be performing conscious actions/activities that are benefiting oneself, others, and the surrounding environment, indiscriminately and unconditionally.

The minds that are resting in unconditional peace, devoid of grasping, have no obligation to perform action, or not. They are free as they are.

The presence of the thinking/thought/idea/belief/identification of, "I have to do this because it is my personal and family and community commitment, obligation, duty, and responsibility towards myself, my family, my community, and the surrounding environment or the world," is not yoga, or buddhism, or freedom.

Performing all actions without the sense of commitment, obligation, duty, or responsibility, that are benefiting oneself and all and everyone and everything, indiscriminately and unconditionally, without grasping, is freedom, is inaction in action, is the essence of yoga and buddhism.

There is absence of the thinking/thought/idea/notion/identification of, "lack of freedom", "I am not free", "Sacrificing myself for others", or "Sacrificing something or everything for the sake of performing the yoga and meditation practice", while performing the regular yoga and meditation practice and/or performing actions that benefit oneself and all and everyone.

Attending and engaging in all kinds of worldly commitment, connection, relationship, affair, activity, duty, and responsibility, while without correct understanding, or under the influence of ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, doesn't benefit anyone or anything. One keeps generating actions and reactions that are hurting oneself and others, unwittingly and unintentionally, while thinking and believing that oneself loves all and everyone and everything very much.

And hence, the highly importance of renunciation to be renouncing/moving away from unnecessary worldly egoistic affairs and activities to be focusing on one's conscious mind evolution, to be free from ignorance and the by-products of ignorance, then only one knows how to truly love and be kind to oneself and others, indiscriminately and unconditionally, while attending and engaging in all kinds of commitment, family ties and social connection, relationship, friendship, affair, activity, duty, and responsibility.

The minds that know this, might still be performing some kind of physical and mental exercise/practice from time to time, that is adequate enough for maintaining certain degrees of good health and fitness condition and function of the body and mind up to a certain extend (the presence of inevitable limitation), to maintain certain degrees of physical/mental independence, to be looking after oneself, others, and the surrounding environment, if possible, as they like, if they want, while still existing and functioning momentarily, selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, and conditionally, in NOW, without grasping, devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

The minds that don't know this (yet), they would think and believe and desire that all kinds of conscious physical and mental actions/activities/practices/trainings are for challenging, changing, controlling, influencing, defying, and if possible, escaping the selfless impermanent changes of decay and disintegration of the body and mind, to be free from being limited and conditioned by any kind of limitation and condition (to be superhuman with super extraordinary power or ability), if not, to exit/to be liberated from what the mind thinks and believes as 'the ceaseless endless wheel of births and deaths (ceaseless endless reincarnations transitioning under different realms)', under the worldly egoistic cultural/spiritual/religious/ancestral/political/national/regional/commercial ideas/beliefs/values/practices, or what the mind thinks and believes as 'entering Nirvana/Nibhana'.

The Nirvana/Nibhana in both the teachings of yoga and buddhism, is merely about the annihilation/silence/absence of the egoistic impure restless selfless modification of the mind, or more precisely, the absence of the idea of 'I' and egoism, and all kinds of impurities deriving from the idea of 'I' and egoism, that give rise to restlessness/peacelessness/murkiness, or the existence/presence of the veil of ignorance (the restless selfless thoughts activities/process/current, or the ceaseless births (arising) and deaths (passing away) of countless names and forms of countless ideas/thoughts/desires/feelings/emotions/actions/reactions under different shapes/qualities and forming the different impermanent realms/states of mind), where the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mind of the physical structure functioning under the presence of conscious awareness cannot perceive/know/see/understand things as it is.

Functioning under the veil of ignorance, the thinking and acting faculty/mind is unwittingly (ignorantly) being limited and conditioned by the existing accumulated worldly egoistic personal/parental/cultural/spiritual/ancestral/religious/philosophical/national/regional/communal/political/commercial way of thinking, imprint, knowledge, information, ideas, beliefs, values, and practices to perceive/think/reason/analyze/understand/desire/aspire/behave/feel/act and react/live life in certain way and not in certain way, not only being the slave of all that, but also the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function/mechanisms of the body and mind, the senses and the sense organs, the mind perception of names and forms, the limited and conditional cognition/memory/knowledge/belief/values/intellect/emotion/sensation/desire/action/reaction, the interchanging states of conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious or the presence and absence and degrees of conscious awareness, the self acknowledgement/the ego/the idea of 'I', the restless thinking process/activity or the impermanent states of mind or the restless modifications of the mind (the veil of ignorance), or the absence and presence/availability and non-availability of pleasant/unpleasant, agreeable/disagreeable, desirable/undesirable, enjoyable/non-enjoyable or painful, and deserving/undeserving experiences/affairs/ties and connections/interactions/activities/conditions/situations/impermanent changes.

Self inquiry, of seeing the truth of things as it is, devoid of the intellectual thinking process/reasoning/analysis/modification of the mind, under the presence of the one-pointed thoughtless desireless intentionless attributeless actionless selfless conscious awareness (the stillness/silence/absence/annihilation of the selfless restless egoistic impure modification of the mind/conscious thought activities a.k.a. the absence of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, and restlessness under the presence of conscious awareness), is absolutely possible. Even if it is also impermanent, but that momentary precious glimpse towards the truth of selflessness will change how the conscious active selfless mind functions/thinks/reasons/understands/acts/reacts/feels/desires/behaves constructively/compassionately/wisely/selflessly/desirelessly/peacefully/fearlessly/freely as it is, while still existing and functioning selflessly, impermanently, limitedly, and conditionally, in NOW.

And there is neither right nor wrong to maximize the good health and fitness condition and function for maximal survival and longer life span with maximum enjoyment of the body and mind, not to the point of hurting oneself and others or the surrounding environment in order to achieve such aspiration/desire/goal, ignorantly and unintentionally.

Inquire the truth of everything.

The difference between the presence and absence of grasping

All kinds of physical and mental yoga and meditation practice is about developing and empowering non-grasping, or the thinning-out/elimination/absence for grasping, or clinging.

Upon the direct realization towards selflessness, there is neither grasping nor non-grasping (the end of practice), as the mind is resting upon the selfless universal consciousness devoid of the idea of 'I', egoism, impurities, or restlessness.

As long as the mind still hasn't attained direct realization towards selflessness, where the mind is still in doubt towards the truth of selflessness, then all kinds of regular ongoing physical and mental yoga and meditation practice to move the mind away from the worldly passionate egoistic conditioned habitual thinking and behavior pattern, is highly useful and valid.

x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

It is normal and nothing wrong to like and enjoy certain agreeable and pleasurable experiences, conditions, activities, interactions, affairs, or connections, including any particular type of food and drinks, living space, surrounding environment, companionship, relationship, friendship, daily or regular physical and mental health and fitness training activities, yoga and meditation practice, rituals, and etc, if they are available to the mind, or it's possible for the mind to enjoy all that, in the present moment NOW.

If for any reasons, all those agreeable and pleasurable names and forms that give rise to the sense of enjoyment, accomplishment, satisfaction, goodness, positiveness, healthiness, righteousness, joyfulness, happiness, or meaningfulness in the mind, are not available in the present moment NOW, or under the presence of certain limited condition and situation (the presence of obstruction, or obstacle, or disturbance, or disruption, or sickness, or injury, or weakness) where it's not possible for the body and mind to be enjoying all those agreeable and pleasurable names and forms in the way that the mind would like it to be, even if they are available in the present moment NOW, and the mind will be disturbed, dissatisfied, disappointed, depressed, frustrated, irritated, agitated, restless, angry, or violent, being determined or disturbed by the non-availability or the impossibility of the enjoyment towards some or all or certain agreeable and pleasurable names and forms that the mind likes and enjoys from time to time or regularly, especially under the presence of disagreeable and unpleasant experiences, conditions, activities, interactions, affairs, or connections, then it indicates the presence of grasping, or clinging (the presence of physical/mental/emotional attachment and the desire of craving and aversion).

Such minds are not practicing yoga or meditation as it is, even if they have been 'practicing' some kind of yoga and meditation practice regularly for a prolonged duration, and are enjoying many of the benefits deriving from the regular physical and mental practice (the enhanced physical and mental health and fitness condition/strength/flexibility/stamina/ability and the sense of calmness/positiveness/righteousness/joyfulness/meaningfulness, that are also impermanent, limited, and conditional).

And if the mind is still peaceful as it is (resting in unconditional peace), being undetermined or undisturbed by the non-availability or the impossibility of the enjoyment towards some or all or certain agreeable and pleasurable names and forms that the mind likes and enjoys from time to time or regularly, regardless of whether the non-availability or impossibility is for short-term or long-term, as well as particularly under the presence of disagreeable and unpleasant experiences, conditions, activities, interactions, affairs, or connections, then it indicates the absence of grasping, or clinging (the absence of physical/mental/emotional attachment and the desire of craving and aversion).

Such minds are the identity-less, nameless, and formless yogis or buddhas, even if they didn't or couldn't practice any kind of yoga and meditation practice under certain names and forms.

However, there is neither bad nor wrong about the minds are not practicing yoga and meditation as it is, even though they have been practicing some kind of yoga and meditation practice regularly and enthusiastically, as the minds don't know what is non-grasping yet.

In the beginning, the mind might not be aware of what is going on in the modification of the mind, due to the veil of ignorance. That is something natural and very common.

As the mind keeps practicing, the mind might start to develop certain degrees of awareness/observation/understanding towards what is going on in the modification of the mind, even if the mind still doesn't know what is non-grasping yet, where the mind is unwittingly being determined or disturbed by its own ungratified desires of craving and aversion, and all kinds of impurities.

And as the mind keeps practicing, it might start to develop certain degrees of detachment or non-association, standing as a third party looking into the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the mind and the modifications/states/thought activities of the mind.

And as the mind keeps practicing, it might develop certain degrees of non-grasping or non-attachment towards the restless modification/states/thoughts activities of the mind, and becoming less and less disturbed or determined by the presence and absence/availability and non-availability/possibility and impossibility of all the pleasant and unpleasant/desirable and undesirable/agreeable and disagreeable/enjoyable and non-enjoyable experiences that are all selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional.

And as the mind keeps practicing, it might come to the point that it is no longer being determined or disturbed by all kinds of names and forms that it perceives through the senses, regardless of pleasant or unpleasant, desirable or undesirable, agreeable or disagreeable, and enjoyable or non-enjoyable.

Or, the mind might still hasn't developed any of that (not practicing yoga and meditation as it is) until the end of the momentary selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of the body and mind, and still being determined and disturbed very much by all and everything that it perceives/experiences, and that's okay too.

And so, does the mind still feel disturbed, offended, dissatisfied, disappointed, depressed, demotivated, or upset, hurt, humiliated, disrespected, belittled, victimized, cheated, ill-treated, angry, and hatred towards the presence of certain disagreeable/unpleasant/undesirable/non-enjoyable/undeserving names and forms/experiences/conditions/situations/affairs/interactions/relationships and the absence of certain agreeable/pleasant/desirable/enjoyable/deserving names and forms/experiences/conditions/situations/affairs/interactions/relationships? If yes, then just keep practicing, but if possible, with better understanding towards what yoga and meditation practice is about.

It doesn't mean that one should just stand there not moving away from any kind of ill treatment or hurtful behavior of some others, and silently accepting all kinds of physical/mental/emotional ill-treatment or hurtful behavior inflicted unto oneself by others who are functioning and behaving under the influence of ignorance. One should try to move away from such ignorant hurtful conditions, situations, affairs, interactions, or connections if possible, even if they are one's family members/relatives/friends/community, while need not be determined by the ignorant hurtful destructive behaviors of the minds that are functioning under the influence of ignorance. Even a two years old toddler that has just learnt how to walk and run would also have the autonomous survival instinct to run away from risky situation and to take shelter or hideaway from anyone who is violent and hurtful, or to ask help or take refuge in some others who are available to give help or protection.

The minds that understand this, there is no difference between all the different types/lineages/paths of yoga and/or buddhism. There is neither superior nor inferior. It is about choosing which type/lineage/path that is available to oneself, and that suits oneself most, in the present moment NOW. While that might or might not change depending on the current condition and situation in NOW, that is always changing.

If the mind still thinks and believes, or debates and justifies that this particular type/lineage/path of yoga and/or buddhism is the best among all, or is more superior or inferior than some other type/lineage/path of yoga and/or buddhism, or the mind thinks and believes and desires that this is the only type/lineage/path of yoga and/or buddhism that it likes and wants to practice, and reluctant to make adaptation and adjustment to accommodate the current selfless impermanent limited and conditional condition and situation of the body and mind and the surrounding environment, in the present moment NOW, then the mind needs to keep practicing until it sees the one same nature in all kinds of diverse names and forms. All debates and justifications, or superiority and inferiority and all kinds of duality, will disappear naturally.

If the mind still needs the presence of something or someone externally to motivate itself to be performing certain action/practice/duty/responsibility that will benefit itself and others and the surrounding environment, then it needs to keep practicing until it no longer needs to depend on the presence or availability of anything or anyone externally to motivate it for anything.

The only motivation/intention/desire is the intense yearning towards liberation/absolute knowledge/unconditional peace arising from the mind itself, that keeps the mind to keep going in life and keep practicing no matter what, while constantly making necessary adjustment and adaptation to accommodate the current condition and situation, and even that intense yearning will also have to be let go/dropped-off, where the mind completely surrenders to all kinds of pleasant and unpleasant/agreeable and disagreeable/desirable and undesirable/enjoyable and non-enjoyable or painful experiences being absent or present as they are, without craving or aversion, accepting the perceived reality as it is, knowing that all are impermanent, where the modification of the mind is completely devoid of any desire/intention/expectation including the intense yearning towards liberation from suffering/painful sorrow/doubt/ignorance/unpleasant, disagreeable, undesirable, non-enjoyable or painful experiences, then the mind will start to see things as it is, and realize Selflessness, and unconditional peace, resting upon the timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness.

One doesn't need to be physically and mentally super extraordinary, healthy, fit, strong, flexible, long-lived, knowledgeable, intelligent, talented, skillful, well-learnt, well-informed, well-lived, accomplished, or highly experienced, to realize all that.

Regardless of what/who/where/how one thinks and believes oneself is, one just needs to be able to let go grasping, towards all kinds of worldly/personal/communal/ancestral/cultural/spiritual/religious/political/commercial/philosophical egoistic ideas, beliefs, values, aspirations, desires, attachment, identification, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, and expectation.

Just do what one can do that is possible, in the present moment NOW.

In the beginning, the mind needs to take refuge in something externally (to have external teachers and teachings to help, teach, and guide oneself). Upon it developed mental and emotional independence, the one and only refuge/teacher/teachings is the mind itself, where all and everything that it perceives/experiences/comes in contact with, regardless of pleasant or unpleasant/desirable or undesirable/enjoyable or non-enjoyable, including the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary existence and function of the body and mind, are the timeless selfless teachers and teachings that teach and reflect about selflessness and impermanence, as well as the answers to all the doubts in the mind itself.

Inquire towards the selfless conscious awareness

All are selfless.

The mind stuff, is selfless.

The thinking faculty, or the function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind, is selfless.

The modification of the mind, or the thought process/activity, is selfless.

All the different selfless mechanisms that enabling the selfless thinking faculty, or the selfless mind to be existing and functioning as what it is, that consists of the conscious awareness, the senses and the organs of the senses, the perception, the cognition/the accumulated knowledge/the memory storage, the intellect/the reasoning/the discrimination/the understanding, the feelings and emotions, the sensations, the thinking, and the conscious/semi-conscious/unconscious desires/urges/actions and reactions, including the idea of 'I' (the ego), or the self awareness/acknowledgement, as well as the selfless supportive energy and elements that enables all cells/organs/systems/functions/mechanisms to be functioning as what they are, are all selfless.

The presence and absence of conscious awareness that enables the mind to be aware (conscious) or semi-aware (semi-conscious) or unaware (unconscious) of the objects of awareness, or the existence and function of itself, the modification of the mind, the physical structure, and the surrounding environment, is also selfless. It can be present or absent, or it comes and goes, depending on the different states of consciousness that is impermanent.

The selfless universal consciousness that is always there as it is, that doesn't come or go, that doesn't change, that pervades all and everything within and without, that gives rise to the different impermanent states of consciousness/awareness to the selfless minds - Complete absence of consciousness/awareness (state of unconscious/deep sleep/coma), partial absence/presence of consciousness/awareness (state of semi-conscious/semi-sleep/semi-awake/dreaming), and complete presence of consciousness/awareness (state of fully conscious/aware/awake), is also selfless.

The selfless mind stuff, or the different selfless mechanisms of the mind (the different tools that are needed to be making the movies, the movies projector, and the projector screen for screening/reflecting/hosting the movies) and the selfless states/modifications/thought activities of the mind (the movies), is neither pure nor impure, while the contents of the modification of the mind, or the thought process/activities in the many different minds (the different contents of the many different movies produced by the many different movies makers), that consists of many different way of thinking, belief/disbelief, values, practices, thoughts, ideas, sensations, feelings and emotions, desires, actions and reactions, even though they are just what they are, neither pure nor impure, but they can be conditioning and influencing the selfless mechanisms of perception, cognition, intellect, reasoning, understanding, aspiration, behavior, action, and reaction in certain way or not in certain way, that appeared to be destructive or constructive, that can give rise to destructive or constructive consequences unto oneself, others, and the surrounding environment.

Just like the selfless universal consciousness is untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by the selfless impermanent manifestations of all kinds of names and forms manifesting under different qualities/conditions/time, space, and causation/impermanent changes upon itself, the selfless conscious awareness is also untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by the objects of awareness.

There might be pure or impure/pleasant or unpleasant/positive or negative/constructive or destructive thoughts, ideas, beliefs, values, practices, desires, aspirations, sensations, feelings and emotions, behaviors, actions and reactions, ceaselessly arising, changing, and passing away in the selfless modifications of the mind governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, but the selfless impermanent conscious awareness that can be presence or absence depending on the different states of consciousness, is untouched, unchanged, undetermined, undamaged, or uncontaminated by all that.

The mind might be in a state of purity (clarity) or impurity (murky), happiness or unhappiness, positiveness or negativeness, constructiveness or destructiveness, but the selfless conscious awareness doesn't become pure or impure, happy or unhappy, positive or negative, constructive or destructive.

The practice of concentration and/or meditation is about strengthening and sharpening the power of awareness by gathering the dissipated wavering awareness to be focusing at one particular point of focus or at one particular object of awareness (particularly focusing within towards what is happening in the body and mind in NOW, towards the breathing, or sensations, or thoughts, or feelings and emotions, that enables the mind to see the truth of impermanence and selflessness directly as it is), devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment, identification, association, craving, aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation.

During and after the prolonged process of the practice of gathering the dissipated awareness at one single object of awareness, or keeping the attention or the focus at one point of focus, the strength and sharpness of the conscious awareness will increase, just as the power or efficiency of the eyesight or hearing, or the power of intellectual learning, reasoning, and understanding, or the power of memory, can be declining or improving under different influential condition.

The strengthened and sharpened conscious awareness can even maintain fully presence during the semi-conscious state, or the sleep state, or the dream state, or even in the unconscious/deep sleep/coma state. Such as, certain minds can be aware of and remember clearly towards the dreams (vivid dreams) or even the unconscious perception of names and forms (the unconscious autonomous thought process/perception of names and forms) during the state of unconsciousness, or deep sleep, or coma.

The mind that was in the state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/complete resting/coma wasn't consciously aware of itself and the surrounding environment during the state of complete absence of conscious awareness, being unaware of itself (the absence of the idea of 'I' (the ego), or self acknowledgement/awareness - the reflection of Selflessness) and its selfless impermanent autonomous modification of the mind, or the different autonomous bodily functions, or the surrounding environment, however, there are some minds don't even consciously know/aware of what was happening during the state of unconsciousness under the absence of conscious awareness, and they don't know why, but they come back into the state of consciousness (waking up) remembering partially/mostly/fully not only the accumulated conscious memory/imprints of before they went into the state of sleep/dream/deep sleep (the self acknowledgement/awareness of a particular self identity under a specific accumulated memory/imprints), but also the ceaseless autonomous memory/imprints of the ceaseless unconscious autonomous physical and mental activities during the state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/coma, due to the selfless universal consciousness (the timeless changeless silent witness) that pervades all and everything, is always there as it is, beyond the three states of consciousness in all minds, that doesn't come and go, even though the conscious awareness can be presence or absence depending on the different states of consciousness, that is highly important and inevitable for all kinds of sentient and non-sentient living organisms to be interchanging between conscious activities and complete rest from conscious activities even though there are still some essential continuous autonomous physical/mental activities ceaselessly happening for life maintenance under the momentary state of unconsciousness/deep sleep/coma.

Similarly, there are minds that have very little or even no awareness towards themselves, of what is going on in the body and mind, or towards the surrounding environment, even under the state of wakefulness. Or, when the mind is fully focusing on reading a book, or watching a movie, or it goes into a deep contemplation (state of meditation), it has no awareness towards certain bodily sensations or certain noise/sound/smell/talking/movement/activity in the surrounding environment (being momentarily cut-off from the conscious perception of names and forms via the senses and sense organs, even though the unconscious autonomous imprints of everything is still there as it is).

All these are neither good nor bad. The most important thing is about the absence of grasping, or attachment/association/identification/craving/aversion/comparison/judgment/expectation under the presence of conscious awareness towards anything and everything (the selfless impermanent modifications/states/thought activities of the mind, or the objects of awareness/perception/knowing/experience).

All kinds of physical and mental yoga and/or buddhism practices are merely about the thinning-out of the degrees of grasping that leads to the complete annihilation of grasping (the thinning-out of the idea of 'I' and egoism, that also lead to the thinning-out of impurities and restlessness).

The prolonged practice of concentration and meditation under the presence of non-grasping (the absence of grasping), will eventually lead towards the process of self-inquiry to be inquiring towards the truth of things as it is, where the mind perceives the perceived names and forms as they are, or is aware of the objects of awareness as they are, under the absence of the subjective thinking/reasoning/judgment under the influence of any particular worldly passionate egoistic impure desires/ideas/beliefs/values/practices (under a one pointed quiet thoughtless desireless peaceful state of mind).

The minds that have no correct understanding towards the selfless modification of the mind, are unwittingly or ignorantly being the slave of all that, where there is the idea of 'I (the ego) and egoism of grasping, or attachment, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, and expectation being generated towards all those selfless manifestations of perceived names and forms/thoughts/sensations/feelings/emotions/memories/imaginations/dreams/urges/inspirations/aspirations, that lead to ceaseless and restless ideas/desires/actions/reactions/behaviors (the presence of restlessness and all kinds of impurities - The formation of the veil of ignorance).

The minds that have correct understanding towards all that, they are resting upon the unchanging timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness, having the selfless conscious awareness being aware of all that, while being undetermined or undisturbed by all that - devoid of the idea of 'I' (the ego), or egoism of grasping, or attachment, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation, allowing all the selfless manifestations of perceived names and forms, thoughts, dreams, memories, imaginations, ideas, desires, sensations, feelings, and emotions, being there as they are, allowing them to be arising, changing, and passing away, governed by the nature's law of cause and effect, without being influenced or determined by all that to be acting or reacting that are unnecessary, apart from attending the inevitable essential needs/activities for life maintenance.

The minds that are practicing yoga and/or buddhism and meditation, is all about non-grasping, or the absence of grasping, where the selfless perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting mind that is being conscious towards the selfless impermanent limited and conditional existence and function of itself and the selfless impermanent modification of the mind under the presence of the selfless impermanent conscious awareness, is aware of all those selfless manifestations of names and forms or the thought process/activities/ideas/sensations/feelings/emotions/memories/imaginations, but devoid of the idea of 'I' and egoism of attachment/grasping, identification, association, craving and aversion, comparison, judgment, or expectation towards all that.

Non-grasping doesn't exist or is invalid in oneness/non-duality/non-separateness, upon the selfless mind attains direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness.

Non-grasping/non-attachment/non-identification/non-craving/non-aversion/non-comparison/non-judgment/non-expectation don't exist in the timeless attributeless selfless universal consciousness, or upon the mind attains direct self realization towards the truth of selflessness (the absence of the idea of 'I'/the ego).

Meanwhile, the selfless mechanisms of the mind is not the contents of the selfless modifications of the mind.

The conscious mind awareness is merely existing and being what it is along with the selfless existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the body and mind.

Under the presence of conscious awareness, the conscious mind is aware of the objects of awareness, or the knower knows the knowledge, or the perceiver perceives the perception of names and forms via the selfless function of the senses and the sense organs that are existing and functioning under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements.

The conscious mind (the perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty of the physical body) under the presence of conscious awareness, is not the objects of awareness, and vice versa, the objects of awareness is not the awareness, including what the mind perceives/acknowledges/understands/identifies as 'this is I/me/myself' (thoughts/ideas) is also not the conscious awareness.

The presence of conscious awareness is merely the 'connecting bridge' that allows the selfless mind to be aware of the selfless existence and function of the mind itself and all kinds of perceived names and forms in the surrounding environment, that are all selfless and impermanent (there is no permanent independent infinite immortal individual self existence that exists in the body and mind, or in all kinds of names and forms).

Just as the presence of light (the 'connecting bridge') that enables the perceptive mind to perceive sights via the sense of seeing to see the objects of seeing through the organ of eyes. Under the absence of light, the mind doesn't perceive sights even if the different mechanisms of the mind and the sense and organ of eyes are existing and functioning perfectly as they are.

The presence/availability of light is selfless, impermanent, limited, and conditional (can be strong or weak/brighter or dimmer/complete or partial presence and absence), so as the presence of conscious awareness that exists along with the selfless impermanent limited and conditional momentary existence and function of the mortal body and mind.

Without the selfless support of the selfless energy and different selfless elements that come together to form the selfless impermanent existence and function of the limited and conditional mortal body and mind, what is the selfless impermanent existence and function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mind of the selfless impermanent mortal physical structure?

Without the selfless impermanent existence and function of the conscious perceptive cognitive intellectual emotional thinking and acting faculty/mechanism/mind of the selfless impermanent physical structure, what is the restless modification of the mind or the worldly life existence of enjoyment and suffering?

Without the selfless universal consciousness, what is conscious awareness?

Without the conscious awareness, what is the objects of awareness?

Without the selfless existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the mind, what is good and bad, right and wrong, positive and negative, purity and impurity, happiness and unhappiness, meaningfulness and meaninglessness, appropriateness and disappropriateness, deserving and non-deserving, enjoyment and suffering?

And hence, non-grasping is valid and possible, as long as there is still the restless modification of the mind manifesting under the selfless impermanent existence and function of the different selfless mechanisms of the selfless mind under the selfless support of the selfless energy and elements, under the presence of the selfless conscious awareness, that gives rise to duality or separateness (subject and object, 'I' and 'not I').

Non-grasping (the yoga and/or buddhism practice, or meditation/self-inquiry/conscious mind evolution to eliminate the veil of ignorance and to transcend suffering), or non-grasping towards the objects of awareness, or the conscious mind perception/experience of dualities/separateness/subject and object, or enjoyment and suffering, doesn't exist or is invalid, upon Silence, or the stillness/annihilation of the restless modification of the mind.

That is why, it really doesn't matter if the mind still hasn't understand (completely) towards all these, even if the mind might still keep hurting itself and others and the surrounding environment either intentionally or unintentionally, due to unwittingly and ignorantly functioning under the influence of ignorance and the consequences of ignorance.

Because at least, the mind might stop harming/hurting itself and/or others and the surrounding environment during the time when it is being occupied by all kinds of ongoing physical and mental yoga and/or buddhism practices during its momentary selfless and impermanent existence and function. However, there are some minds might still be harming/hurting the body and mind during the process of learning and performing the different yoga and/or buddhism practice under the presence of the habitual ignorant and egoistic ideas, thinking, understanding, attitude, desire, aspiration, action, and reaction.

That's why the highly importance of the initial mind purification process (mental practices) under the help of the observation of renunciation, dispassion, solitude, seclusion, and silence, in order to eliminate the ego and egoism even before the beginning of learning and performing the physical practices.

Such as, occupying the entire life existence into performing ceaseless selfless service or karma yoga for oneself and others, or performing one's duties and responsibilities towards looking after oneself and others and the surrounding environment, without the need of performing any kind of specific yoga asana practice, breathing exercise, chanting, prayer, ritual, concentration and meditation practice under particular name and form, and etc.

It's about perform all kinds of actions without grasping/attachment.

Perform all actions/practices/duties/responsibilities, and let go the fruit of actions/practices/duties/responsibilities, allowing the fruit of actions to be what it is.

The minds that understand this, there is no difference between action and inaction, between worldly duties and all kinds of yoga and/or buddhism physical and mental practices, between different types of yoga/buddhism practice, or between different lineages/paths of yoga/buddhism. Not to say, there is no this type/lineage/path of yoga/buddhism is more superior/inferior than some other type/lineage/path of yoga/buddhism. But the presence of correct understanding towards all that is crucial, as that is influencing whether the mind will be generating behaviors, actions, and reactions that hurt oneself and others, or not, regardless of whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Meanwhile, the direct self realization towards all these, can allow the mind to be resting in peace amidst the chaotic world of ignorance and egoism, and/or to be making full use of the selfless impermanent momentary existence and function of the body and mind with the available existing and accumulating talents, skills, knowledge, understanding, experience, and opportunity, under the absence of ignorance, the idea of 'I' (the ego), egoism, restlessness, and all kinds of impurities (corrupted and destructive ideas, thinking, understanding, beliefs, values, desires, aspirations, actions and reactions, feelings and emotions, self-righteousness, pride, the urge to control everything to be or not to be in certain way, and etc), to be looking after and benefiting oneself, all and everything, and the surrounding environment, selflessly and indiscriminately.

And hence, it is highly important for activating the mind conscious evolution, to eliminate the veil of ignorance, to be resting in unconditional peace upon the selfless universal consciousness, during the momentary existence and function of the selfless impermanent mortal body and mind.
